'Designs of the past' - as requested by all those who live in gorgeous stately Victorian, Edwardian or Queen Anne styled homes. Big houses need big designs. The vase is the key to success.
The flower arrangers of this era were into oversized big and lush either packed with flower or dripping foliage in abundance. Throw in whatever takes your fancy, because that’s what they did and if its attention grabbing or a way to express styles of the past then that’s what needs to happen. Dig out those birds & butterflies & ostrich feathers.
As the title suggests we are after something whimsical or theatrical. You’ll also need tropical foliage’s, leaves, fronds, ferns, palms and material that drips, drapes and cascades.
Think opulence and excessive!

Absolutely love the addition of the butterflies into the arrangement! It just gives it life and makes it seem like the whole arrangement is breathing fresh air!
I love her vases too! She s very inventive, I think she decopased (glued) floral prints on the vase! She's such a genius!
Hi Tyler, I used the 're-design' decor transfers. Check out @redesignwithprima.com range Fabulous transfer designs that just take a vase to a whole new level. Warm regards Astar
Beautiful vase and arrangement. I love everything about it. Thank you for sharing Astar.
The Wonder Woman of floral and vase design!! I love those vases. Cheers!
Gorgeous ! I love the vase
Delightful! Spring was truly dancing in our Garden this weekend. Very green like your arrangement! Love it 💓
So beautiful I love the style of the Victorian era but I'm with you I like my lifestyle now wouldn't want to live in that time period.
At least you have tall ceilings 😅 I love a good dash of whimsy! A botanical “folly”! Once I watched you make handhelds, I sort of started arranging all my flowers like that! Makes it really easy, and then I just plonk it in a vase and loosen it slightly. Really works! You definitely have succeeded in working with that tall vase and its very narrow opening! Have you tried spring blossom into it yet? 🌸
Hello Jesse, I'm patiently waiting for the cherry blossom to burst abundantly so that I can pick and bring indoors to land into these Victorian inspired vases... tbh, the pear & plum are blooming but I'm within an inch of bother if I attempt to cut off this seasons fruit!
Yes, I have to agree with you, hand-helds are the quickest & easiest method of creating arrangements, especially if you want to achieve a loose & informal look. Nothing like a wander around the garden picking this and picking that & creating a posy as you go. We should call it pick & drop.
I'm in the midst of prep for filming & all that I'm seeing is more whimsical botanical magic. Perhaps this is what the world needs? Here's a good idea... maybe I should get our world leaders together for a floral masterclass & insist they bring botanicals from their region, we plonk it all down in the middle of the round table & make them share!
Warm regards Astar
