    @ 18:30 it looks like you put the piston in backwards is this true?

    15:43 would'nt it be easier to just dunk the piston into a bucket of that stuff? lol

    Hii when to replace piston and liner.
    And you have honed the liner so will insert over size piston ring or normal piston ring

    What about changing out the frost plugs....The front one is showing some rust.

    Kindly assist. .. 12000 of an inch would be less than 3000 of an inch , whereas for 4 inch bore taper tolerance should be around 750th of an inch ... Pl correct me .. tricky situation

    Yep, at 18:30 , the #1 piston is going in backwards. It was either a test, or a testament as to why you should install the pistons without the crank in place. Seems like all that has to be done is carefully lube and spin the #1 piston around...

      @Jonesys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The piston was rotated around. It was just how the video was edited.

    This is a great series. Butttttt. Did that first piston go in backwards?

    • @Jonesys
      @Jonesys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The piston was rotated and installed correctly. The Video editing made it appear it was installed wrong. Thanks for watching the video so closely!!.

      @@Jonesys 100% here to learn man I really like this series. You were so informative that it did in fact “look” as though it went in reversed to what you said. But thank you for taking the time to educate the people like me.

    What if you just filled a 5 gallon bucket with lubricating oil and just dunk the entire piston in the oil like a infant baptism

    Why did u rebuild this engine is everything was. Isn’t that a waste of money. Was there blow by or something that u thought was wrong with it or was this just a how to video

  • @rememberthis8795

    Why do there seem to be holes in the top of the pistons? I know nothing of diesel internals, but I assume the design is to allow some pressure release due to the super high combustion. Am I close?

    • @Jonesys
      @Jonesys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has to do with how the explosion is distributed across the piston as well as the flow of air and fuel so it can mix more efficiently.

    • @HunterRitchie
      @HunterRitchie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kurt Dukes, what you're seeing is the actual combustion chamber. The underside of the cylinder head on a direct injected diesel if completely flat unlike their gasoline counterparts.

    No offense, but seams like a waste of time on rebuild, looks like it was good to go for another 200k

    Is that amount of wrist pin play normal on a 5.9?

    • @coldstartdaily9738

      i thought exactly the same around the 14 minute mark where hes lubing the gugeon pin up

    • @Dirtyol12valve
      @Dirtyol12valve 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When the rod and piston are not installed in the block there is a fair amount of play between the top of the rod and sides of the piston if that’s what you mean. When pistons in and rods bolted to crank it kinda takes up the slack.
