The more you hear Jon Hendricks' lyrics, the more you realize this was an extraordinarily wise and wonderful poet/philosopher that we had the pleasure of enjoying for many years. Recommended:His two interviews with Monk Rowe.

This. The vocal arrangements of LH&R (and later Lambert, Hendricks and Bavan) are pure genious and are often overlooked because the impressive vocalese lyrics get all the attention. The fact is, all the later torch carriers (Double Six of Paris -> Swingle Singers, Manhattan Transfer, Rare Silk, New York Voices, The Real Group, Take Six, Rajaton, Club for Five and the list goes on, fortunately) - they all had the benefit of 4 or more voices for complex harmonies. Here, just three. No multi tracks, no AutoTune, just pure singing. Raw and honest, unproduced (is that even a word...) Mind blowing.

Kind of confuses me because the photo on the EP have them look like they do on this live video. On their ´58 LP they look entirely different. Maybe because they maybe switched labels. The one I have is Impulse label. No matter. I was curious as to how they sound, and I was blown away how cool they are. I´m a fan for life.
