I love those early Stratovarius albums.....the ones that came later too (of course). It would be a great pleasure if the members who recorded those two LPs met again and re-recorded again with a current sound (a 3.0 version).

Stratovarius today is nothing. This is Stratovarius. I followed them until Tolkki left, then I lost interest. Saw them live in 2000,and also in 2011 i think, on tour with Helloween.
This Stratovarius only lasted a few years till Kotipelto came along and the rest of the band and formed a solid Band. Yeah Stratovarius today is lamer due to Kotipelto getting old and a dry voice but they are still going strong.
You know Tolkki is still active with Tolkki's Avalon and Revolution Renaissance, Stratovarius changed of course after his departure, but let's be honest here, he sound raw and uncontrolled vocally. Matias Kupianen is doing a good job, even Limatainen did in his time, each having its own style. Without Kotipelto's arrival the band wouldn't have lasted much, that's why they brought him from the start. But if you that they are not heavy enough I don't buy it, Frozen in time and Survive from the latest album is heavier than the first 3 albums together. Tolkki's sense of music isn't there anymore, but that doesn't lessen them at all, Avalon and Revolution Renaissance is there so the man is still performing.
@@Platica.Vasile it's really the work of matias kupiainen it's very good so much so that about 50% to 60% of the songs that Stratovarius currently plays live are still from Tolkki's time, and he left the band 15 years ago, is the cause of that it's because the fans don't want to hear these new songs, but excellent songs like Black Diamond, Hunting High an low, Paradise, Stratosphere, Eagleheart, Father Time (songs that kotipelto sang very well yes, but what stood out the most in the songs it was the instrumental part, both the keyboard and the guitar and the drums), besides when kotipelto wasn't out of control vocally too, just search Stratovarius videos live on youtube and you'll see that his voice constantly fails and it's not just now that he's older in the very golden era of stratovarius it already happened, besides that Stratovarius wouldn't last long without kotipelto kkk, when kotipelto joined Stratovarius it was already a successful band (which was increased as the years went by), so much so that Stratovarius before kotipelto already made international tours mainly to japan in which the album Twilight Time was in the top 10 imported there for 5 months becoming the best selling imported album in japan in 1993, in addition to seeing the demos of Fourth Dimension I think the album would be better with Tolkki singing; But I also know that kotipelto was important for the history of the Stratovarius, but I think that the success of the stratovarius increased more due to the improvement in the musical quality (both in more impactful solos and the addition of a choir in the songs) of albums like Visions and Destiny for example, so I fully agree with space ace's comment, the current Stratovarius is nothing compared to the old Stratovarius formations, both the one in the video and the one from the golden age, the Stratovarius is only relevant because of the songs from the past and why the other metal bands fell along in quality.
First you cannot consider screams as singing. Second, "falsetto" voice is way higher than chest or mixed voice so it's not difficult to reach high notes at all. Third, Tolkki is clearly strained while singing 'cause he is using throat instead of diaphragm or head-voice while the higher note are falsetto screams without any dynamics. So no, Tolkki wasn't able to sings higher, he was able to scream higher and, believe me, there's a huge difference. Find your own voice, Learning to fly, Elements, Visions, Tomorrow, Father Time and so on are way beyond Tolkki's skills since everything was sung in head-voice by Kotipelto. I bet even nowadays Kotipelto, while singing in falsetto, can reach higher note than Tolkki, simply he doesn't like to as clearly stated a lot of times (that's why Kotipelto hates both Elements).
@@francescopanciroli1382 oh i see. i dont know this much about singing but koti did superb on find your own voice. I didnt know he disliked the element albums. But i guess it makes sense since the only thing i know is that Tolkki made Koti sing very high notes and still not being satisfied with his performance.

I do think timo kotipelto is the better singer but tolkkis screams are better, more energetic, and it can hit higher notes than kotipelto :)
