Regardless of the stupid and unnecessary comparisons with Messi that some people make, Recoba was a giant! I saw Recoba playing in his prime. He was a real monster in technical terms, a true baller! It's a pity that constant and very serious injuries shortened his peak.
That was not the reason, the 3 actaull reasons he started slacking in ability is because he was sent off due to faulty passport situation not letting him put time on the pitch, second reasons is that he did not turn up to training because he thought he was to good for that. The third reasons is because sometimes he did not turn up to matches because he thought his team would not win anyway. He did have minor injury but those were the type that will let you play in a few games, nothing major until way later in his career.
Thank you for making this. People so hyped by today’s football will never understand how good it was before. Was amazing to have him and R9 together at Inter.
If anything this video just shows how absurd Messi is; that he was able to showboat and show same skills as a mercurial player like Recoba AND back those skills up with consistent 30 goal seasons and trophies.
