Fairmont In Barbados a Luxury 5 Star Resort On The Platinum Coast Full Review ❤️❤️❤️

  • This hotel has arguably the best location of any on Barbados, set right beside a gorgeous beach. A long-standing stalwart of the luxury hotel scene on the west coast, it remains one of the most elegant places to stay anywhere on the island.
The hotel's buildings are strung out along a 350yd stretch of Alleynes Bay, a tranquil beach on Barbados' upmarket west coast. You couldn't be nearer to the sand - the property was constructed decades ago, before regulations restricted hotels being built so close to the beachfront. The narrow-ish but very scenic strip of soft white sand, with usually gently lapping water that is ideal for swimming, extends for more than half a mile. This is the only hotel on the beach; a five-minute stroll brings you to the Lone Star, a trendy restaurant with rooms, and a couple of other low-key beach bars. The sunsets can be superb.
The hotel is part of a chain (Fairmont), so service may not be quite as personal as at some other privately owned west-coast hotels. However, staff are very solicitous, and you can expect luxury trappings, such as an evening bedroom turndown and the beach being raked every morning. After December 18 2018, all guests will automatically receive fast-track airport service, and those in the suites and Signature Oceanfront rooms will also get airport transfers and butler service included in the rates.
In terms of facilities, there's a lovely large rectangular swimming pool with a generously sized hot tub off it, plus non-motorised watersports (kayaks, sailboats, paddleboards), two tennis courts and a good gym. Each day a guy from the watersports centre swims out with guests to where turtles congregate off the beach - a nice (complimentary) touch. Somewhat surprisingly for a hotel of this class, there is no spa, though treatments are offered in your room.
There are 72 bedrooms. All are directly behind the beach and face out to sea, so it's really no hardship opting for the cheapest type. The accommodation throughout comes in a fresh, stylish and soothing palette of cream, grey and beige, with examples of contemporary Barbardian art, and smart marble bathrooms with a walk-in shower and tub. Robes and tea- and coffee-making facilities are standard. Rooms, all on the upper floors, have large balconies with a circular daybed, while suites, all on the ground floor, have expansive wooden decks with sunloungers, that are just feet from the sand.
There are two beachfront restaurants. The Palm Terrace, a grandiose affair with pink-marble flooring, vaulted ceilings and sea views through lofty arches, is usually open only in high season. The pillared and open-sided Taboras is more casual (though white cloths are still laid out on tables at dinner). My evening meal at Taboras - seared tuna to start, followed by pan-fried mahi mahi with macaroni pie (a Barbados speciality), then coconut parfait for pudding - was accomplished without being sensational. Dishes are not overcomplicated, and local fish cooked any which way is always on offer.
Breakfasts are good too, with freshly squeezed orange juice, lots of varied fruit, coconut and banana bread, and cooked options ranging from kippers to pancakes. There's also an informal daytime café near the watersports centre.
Double rooms from $473 (£372) in low season; and from $1,600 (£1,257) in high. Breakfast is included, as are non-motorised watersports. Until December 18 2018, afternoon tea (scones, sandwiches, mini cakes) every day is also included in the rates, but after then it is complimentary only once every seven nights. While low season rates are fairly priced, even taking into account the quality and prime location, in high season a stay here is punitively expensive. Free Wi-Fi.
Families are welcome year-round, though the atmosphere is quite grown up. There is no kids' club, but some supervised activities are laid on for children in school holiday periods. Interconnecting rooms are available.

The fresh fried fish caught off the coast grilled with lemon served with coconut rice. A mango sorbet for dessert. Barbados is the place to be 😂😂😂😂😂
