    I can't decide what's funnier, the idea that blown kisses were a top tier seduction technique 1000 years ago, or Flamme just purposely mislead Frieren as a joke.

    • @ChrisH43
      @ChrisH43 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Why not both?

      Blown kiss should be a whole body language and the energy while casting it. I've seen some effective blown kiss, they aren't anywhere close to what Frieren did.

      Flamme is in heaven somewhere like "hehe and THEN I told her clothes-dissolving potions were good gifts. 1000 years and she still has no idea"

      I will have you know that in the manga, there is a small small panel where frieren blows a kiss at flamme and flamme thinks it's absolutely the cutest thing, so the technique at least works on flamme the great mage

    5:00 - NORMIE: "Oh, that's King Arthur!"
    WEEB: "Oh! True! Man, she was a badass."
    NORMIE: "What?"
    WEEB: "What?"

    Frieren didn't forget a spell. It only takes the "lift" spell to pull a person out of a swamp (or anything else) - she was trolling.

    Graham... you say Fern "is" so nice?? id say Fern "can" be so nice xD
    also about the whole -sama thing, Fern also calls Frieren-sama, despite how long they have traveled, while Frieren just uses their name... Fern is just super polite i think :D

    Episode 12 is my favorite episode of the entire series. There's something about Stark's backstory that weaves itself backwards across the show, the more you learn about him the more impact his prior scenes have. Realizing that he was defeating himself when it came to the dragon and against Linnie the demon, until he just faced them head on, BECAUSE he was carrying all that failure mindset instilled from his father, and watching him learn that Eisen and Stoltz were honoring him the whole time, is powerful writing.
    I interpreted Stark not attempting to pull the sword but constantly helping people in small ways as evidence that his heroism comes from kindness and not a prideful desire to prove himself through acts of grandeur, his valor is a humble one. It's an amazing episode that really affected how I saw him as a character

      The fact that when looking at the sword his brother came to mind is what really stuck with me. I think his brother was his hero. That and him standing there with his family with a wooden practice sword until his brother told him to run..... it's sad that his survivors guilt caused him to feel like a coward.

  • @ChrisH43
    @ChrisH43 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    I think Stark does not see himself a hero. Heroes use swords, like his death brother. He uses an Axe, he is now Eisens pupil
    There is a Hero class in many Japanese RPG, a kind of charismatic leader with sword and destiny...

  • @UltraHD.7
    @UltraHD.7 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    So, please ask yourself, why do you really want to have Stark trying to pull out the sword? Is it because that's what would happen in all the other fantasy shows or movies?
    But didn't Himmel show us that it's not those symbols or status symbols that will make you a real hero? I think it's awesome they didn't go that usual way, it makes the message even stronger.
    And besides, Stark still doesn't see himself as a worthy candidate anyway. His brother was and still is the true hero for him.

    This just goes to show how Himmel was HIM. Bro failed to pull out the hero's sword but still proved that even with a fake sword and being a fake hero as he said don't mean nothing because he's HIM and defeated the demon king to prove so.

    •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s almost MORE inspiring in some ways. Himmel wasn’t the prophesied hero but rose up to the occasion and defeated the demon king anyway. Fake or real, his actions spoke for themselves.

    Frieren's "flying kiss" is dissipating before reaching the target, she should work on her output and control as she said to fern in ep2 🤣
    If i had to classify Himmel i'd say he's a paladin, but i don't even know if that class exists in this world's classification.

    Interesting that you guys picked up the fact that Himmel couldn't pull the sword out when going to defeat the Demon King, because you'd think that would be a world crisis, but there must be something bigger on the horizon. But I'm thinking Frieren will be the one to pull it when the time comes. Fern is weird with her hangups and the face that Frienen makes holding the potion is a tribute to the VO because she does the voice of Anya in Spy X Family and that's her character's trademark face.

    Regarding the 500 years, I would say she did train less intensely because she maybe lost hope to really defeat the DK. So more like training because of habit and nearly no actual fights. There may be a reason 500 years ago for that...

    A Fake Hero.
    A Corrupt Priest.
    A Cowardly Warrior.
    A Disgraceful Mage.
    These are are the people who killed fhe Demon King and restored peace to the land. Masterful writing indeed!

    Himmel steals every scene he’s in, naturally, but there’s a particular edit of the scene where he fails to pull the sword that gets me right in the chest every time with the perfect blend of sorrow and joy where Himmel can’t pull the Hero’s Sword but then simply turns around to his friends, goes “guess I’m a fake then” and proceeds to kill the demon king anyway
    I also like the Hero’s sword as a test of the hero in a way deeper than pulling any sword from a stone ever could be. The sword tests you, but your reward isn’t the sword, it’s the knowledge you’re willing to be a hero anyway. People get too caught up in the idea of “real” or “fake” heroes when the only question is if they’re willing to act like one. If Himmel returned to the stone after defeating the demon king, it wouldn’t have mattered if the sword had slid out like it was never stuck, or if it had simply stayed there, never to leave. It was the heart of a hero, not his sword, that saved the world

    Why you guys so obsessed with the sword? Himmel ended the Demon Lord reign, at least 1,000 years reign with a fking bootleg sword.
    A hero need no such sword.

    10:02 “I feel like Fern has kind of had some of distance…” As you may know, the names in this show are in German. Fern means “distant.” But regarding the “-sama” honorific, I think Fern is just in the habit of calling everyone that way… it might have been her upbringing by a priest (which could have influenced how she’s super sensitive about what she perceives as being pervy, lol).
    14:30 “I hope we get something where he (Stark) goes back, trying to get the sword.” To me, I think this episode was trying to show us that the sword doesn’t make the hero, it’s your actions and intentions that make you the hero. Neither Himmel nor Stark needs some sword to be a hero. The way Stark went through the town, helping everyone shows how he’s naturally a hero.
    30:34 “What class is Himmel?” I always thought of him being in a special class: Hero… but in conventional game terms, he may be like a dexterity fighter, to contrast against Eisen, who, though is a warrior class, seems like a tank. In terms of party roles, Himmel is the “hero,” and now, Frieren seems to have that role.
