    Another great video. We seem so similar ... forgetting the correct filter connections ... discovering new features by accident!
    I'm 70 now and always take a trekking pole (walking stick) on paths that are steep and slippy and it's saved me and my gear on numerous times. Some great shots here

    Great video Chris, It's quite a long learning curve with all that the EM1-MK2 and most other Olympus cameras will do, there is a humongous amount of control available; I've been using the EM1-MK2 for a couple of years and I'm still finding new ways to utilise some of it's outstanding features - a truly superb camera.

      I kind of just set it up how I’m used to using a camera and never really explored any of the features. I should sit down and have a proper look though it all one night.

    Hi Chris, quite some recognition for me in this video! I had my E-M10 MKII already for three years when I found a feauture I never thought it had. Also, having high expectations of a shoot and coming back a bit disappointed. I have learned that when you see those photos in quite a while again you may like them much more. To me the photo with the birch lying in the foreground was very appealing (the hanging about photo).

    Great images Chris and yes many people are surprised what the Olympus cameras can do , I quite often forget about the HDR feature also focus stacking, been doing a bit with the high res in forests but you cant have any wind/movement. I do find both of my Olympus cameras are a pleasure and are fun to use. The Emi Mk iii and the OM-1 have built in ND filters that are very handy. Cheers mate

      The EM1 Mark iii was my original plan as it happens. Then I looked at the firmware updates for the Mark ii and realised it was 90% of the Mark iii for about £300 less 😆

    Big Thumbs up, as always ❤
    I too discovered HDR on a Vienna family trip last summer.
    What I learned is that I can have much more control using the RAWs merging them in my favorite tool, ON1 Photo RAW.
    Currently, I am dabbling in off-camera multi-flash flower shooting. All superbly controlled by the EM5II RC flash control panel. You should have a look at it. Cheers.

    RTFM. Read the effing manual. You might consider downloading the PDF Manual to your phone. That way when you’re stuck waiting for your woman to finish with her makeup or sitting by yourself in the bathroom you can pull out your phone and read a few pages and find something new.

    Interesting video from another M43 user. I love the format especially for its portability (waterfalls are one of my favourite landscapes and often need a strenuous hike to access them.) Speaking of which, I carry a set of mini crampons that are a great help in negotiating steep gulleys and crossing slippery stream beds. Regarding auto bracketing (the Panasonic equivalent of your 'HDR button',) I used to use that fairly often in harsh, contrasty scenes. After adopting darktable raw file editor (free and LR compatible) I find that I can manage some very contrasty lighting in post. It has a very good module called tone equaliser for this. Regarding the choice of ND filters, I carry a set of internal filters. These eliminate the problems of flare on the front of an external filter. I'm of rather a long vintage so lightweight is important and I recently bought the new and very innovative Heipi carbon fibre travel tripod which I use with a levelling base to shoot panoramic waterfall scenes. Very light and very versatile. Check it out.
    I enjoyed the video. Well made and not too wordy. Thanks. Subscribed.

      "After adopting darktable raw file editor (free and LR compatible) I find that I can manage some very contrasty lighting in post. It has a very good module called tone equaliser for this."
      Thanks for the tip of the module.
      I have lately started to adapt the darktable to my workflow as it has improved lot from early days, and find it so much nicer than Lightroom. Like the darktable selection and layer tools are far better than what Lightroom offered (and it didn't for long time).
      I still do my primary work with the Affinity Photo, but it is not available for Linux. The Affinity Photo has best selection and inpainting tools, better than Adobe AI featured ones. It is magical how much easier and better you get with just little effort to think how to use tools.
      I need to go tomorrow testing that Tone Equalizer module...

    Not sure why bracketing should be a mystery to anyone. As for in-camera HDR, not all camera systems provide the original RAW files and that can be a downside among other issues. Read the manual.

    • @lensman5762
      @lensman5762 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisBaitson No, my camera imports the end result as ORF ( it is set to RAW+SF). camera itself combines the exposures. It is the same with my EM5 MKII.

    • @jonastruemper637
      @jonastruemper637 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisBaitson No, you will get both JPEG and RAW from both HDR1 + HDR2. You can also confirm this from the super control panel (SCP). The modes are pretty much similar, but one is for high-contrast scenes and the other for super-high-contrast scenes; basically, different amount of stops between the individual exposures. You can get some more information on this also in the menu, I think it's the camera 1 menu.

      @@bingbong4848 have to agree with the LUMIX menus being so much more user friendly to delve into. I’ve had the S5, GH5 & G85 and they were all a joy to use, with none of them needing a gimbal for handheld video work. Now have the Oly E-M1 mkII for light painting and macro, and my Sony a7r mkI for where I might need more resolution to print very large. I’ll never be a fanboi of any one brand, it’s whatever works well for your use and comfort that I advocate for, just like you, Bing Bong.
