Storm Sorcerer / Tempest Cleric Multiclass Build Guide: Baldur's Gate 3

  • One of the STRONGEST multiclasses in Baldur's Gate 3, the Storm Sorcerer and Tempest Cleric are a perfect match. There are a few different ways you can take this build, but here is my interpretation on the storm sorc tempest cleric multiclass after build testing it. I think that this It's so powerful because create water in Balder's Gate 3 is really easy to do compared to tabletop DnD 5e. Lightning damage and Thunder damage both get doubled whenever the target is wet and you can use things like mage hand to throw a water bottles or even just have your other teammates set you up to deal massive damage. This is one of the best Multiclasses in baldur's gate 3

      its not his abilities allocations are wrong. for spellcasting its the spell cast stat of your latest new class that matter. he start sorc, then go cleric, so even if he go back sorc after its his cleric stats aka wisdom that will apply to spells castin, not his charisma.and his wisdom is shitty...so if u pick sorc first and cleric 2nd, u must max wisdom.

    Twin haste can be powerful, but it’s also dangerous as you risk two characters losing their turn if the character casting loses their concentration, which can end a campaign. Honestly makes the case for putting war caster on if you have the feat OR drinking the elixir.

    Just going to throw this out there, witch bolt upscales better and deals more damage than chromatic orb at level 3 spell slots and above. At level 6 with chromatic orb dealing that 224 on wet + crit, witch bolt at level 6 deals 288 on wet + crit. Big damage, even more than lightning bolt for single target.

    Yeah having at least five levels of sorc on one of my party members is including in every single one of my teams. Twinned haste is the strongest thing you can possibly concentrate on as a support/caster in non honor mode runs. I wouldn’t worry about including it in honor mode though. It’s needed to what is in in d&d where the extra action point doesn’t benefit from extra attack. It’s still good there but it’s not the default strongest thing

    • @JasonDunna
      @JasonDunna  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Great points on honor mode! Twinned haste is so ridiculously broken. If you have two sorcerers with haste and water set up, it’s the highest burst damage possible. Extra powerful if one sorcerer is level 11 and twins chain lightning… so much damage!!

    For me i prefer draconic bloodline because you get your charisma's modifier to any spell that deal lightning damage (if you take a lineage like blue and you are at least lvl 6 sorc) and you get (if you don't play heavy armor) +3 AC and more hitpoint. You can also get lightning resistance with a sorc point.
    This boost is like +5 to +7 damage without using a reaction when tempest gives you only 3 damage with reaction (so no cleric boost as it uses a reaction). The only good thing i think is the fly ability of the tempest but you get it with illithid so it's great only in early game. Tempest is also great lvl 11 with the passif but you need at least 2 lvl in tempest cleric to max damage so useless.
    Also a better option than Chromatic Orb of lightning (if you use the cleric boost, higher level spell slot and SINGLE target) is the simple witch bolt as you get +12 damage per spell slot compared to + 8 damage per spell slot (so it's better at lvl 3+ spell slot --> 36 vs 32, even at lvl 2 --> 24 and worse at level 1 --> 12 vs 16).

    • @JasonDunna
      @JasonDunna  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yeah the draconinc bloodline blue is also quite strong. The draconic sorcerer gets fly at level 11 but if you want the cleric's channel divinity you can't get both sadly.
      Chromatic orb lightning is very strong! I got roasted on a video once for taking witch bolt but your application of it is very powerful. Thanks for commenting!

    • @ejire4407
      @ejire4407 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JasonDunna Yeah witch bolt is great vs single enemy or if you want to oneshot ONE troublesome npc but if you have a zone of 2-3 npc then blast all 3 of them with double orb of lightning (but it uses 2 or 3 sorc point). I didn't take into account the "wet" statue in the calcule but it's the same thing starting from lvl 3 spell slot witch bolt deals an amazing 72 damage on wet with cleric boost at lvl 5 so basically nearly the entire health bar of ANY npc at that time and can 2-3 shot boss fight.
      If you have the draconic bloodline it's 82-90 damage and with other boost you can get nearly 100 damage with 1 spell at lvl 3-4 spell slot. BALANCED ! So depending on how the enemy are position on the map you deal more damage than orb of lightning.

    The best piece of gear for this is easily the Markoheshkir. Using Kereskas Favor for lightning, you get a free use of Chain Lightning and a level 6 Lightning Bolt on a short rest, get your proficiency bonus added to lightning spells, and Arcane Battery gives you just a free spell each day, which can come in handy if you took a Wizard dip and learned Conjure Elemental to get a free Myrmidon.
    Also, something of note, the Chain Lightning from Markoheshkir can still be twinned when it can't be from scrolls or knowing it anymore, letting you delete entire groups of enemies and even some tankier targets.

    Wanted to play an original character so I chose shadowheart and made her a call of lightning build since that spell is great and can be repeated for free. I have gale for haste and create water and lemme tell ya casting 2 free call of lightnings every turn with shadowheart is fun and stupidly good. She's my only need for crowd control.
