Such a detailed video but didn't even mention how you drilled out the area for pinning the gas block.

I have an SLR jig and it's very good jig with 5 different dimple spaces. It's made from 7075 aluminum and has worked extremely well for me. Also it's 1/3 the cost of the BRD.

Paul Hughes Thanks for the report and that’s certainly a good option as well.

Paul is correct below. The SLR dimple jig will dimple for set screw gas blocks with .400", .425", .450", .470", & .500" set screw spacings...!

Thanks for sharing, I believe you get a better deal with the SLR jig.

The SLR jigs are the best in the market and it’s suprisingly inexpensive!!

In addition to pinning, do you loctite the set screws?
If yes, would it be better to use Rocksett instead of red loctite? Red Loctite is only good to 305 f, while Rocksett's good to 3000 f?

so i just dimpled one of my barrels and red loctite it up. I didnt go as deep as the ones shown here although my set screws still fit inside the dimple. this shouldnt be an issue correct?

Nice jig. I need to check them out. See if they make it for the smaller diameter. Once you use a Faxon Pencil barrel you get hooked but the are .625 and I'm sure that is for .750.

Thanks, brother! You're correct, that jig is designed for a 0.75" gas block journal; however, they have a 0.625" adapter sleeve for use on pencil barrels. The adapter is $15.

I have the same exact barrel from Ballistic Advantage and it’s super dissapointing really for them not dimple it considering it would have a very simple procedure for them to do it in their facility!!🙄

I like to buy the barrel already dimpled if possible, but that tool could definitely come in handy.

Agreed, no doubt. Meanwhile, even with barrels that come dimpled, it's typically only one so I'll add a second. Also, such as the Ballistic Advantage barrel that I dimpled in the video, it was only pinned. Granted, that's a whole other topic/argument but I always follow the bombproof method of gas block installations, if possible. Thanks for tuning in, brother.

@@thelonestarpatriot I used to put the second dimple in too but Caleb Savant from Brownell's makes a good point that if you ever need to replace the gas block, the new one may not have the same spacing between set-screw pins. Since then I just dimple the first one. I also pin mine though so it isn't that big of a deal either way.

Everything BRD makes is junk in my opinion, his dimple jigs and especially his front sight alignment tool.

I bought BRD's gas block pinning jig about 2 years ago. It didn't even fit the gas blocks that it said it would. Agree, they sell crap. I have quit buying anything from them, Luth-AR, and Strike Industries as well.
