Awesome video Minh! I didn't realize this was an option in Vray - Lol - I uploaded a video on SketchUp proxies the same day you did one on Vray Proxies - we both must have had some slow models at the same time 😂😂😂😂
@@ArchitectureInspirations Hi guys, I have a question here... is the proxy method whether in vray or component proxy as Justin did it before will has any implication when it exported to Lumion for rendering? or do I need to reinstate to its original faces before exported to Lumion? anyway this would be a proper way to solve sketchup in high detail modeling or complex modeling in one file, right? my pc is considered as medium to high specs (32GM RAM, GTX1070Ti) but most of my models were running very slow in millions of lines and faces, maybe proxy can save my time in doing my modeling.

I didnt regret hitting the subscribe button. Your content is awesome! Allow me to clarify my understanding to this tutorial. This allows the Sketchup to speedup right? Im having a hard everytime I import the 3d objects in the scene Especially when theres a bunch of imported materials in the scene. Thou, I have a gaming laptop it ends up crashing or running slowly. Please enlighten me :)
Yes! This allows you to speed up the sketchup model but when you render it should look correct. Did it crash after you use proxy? Maybe there's something wrong with the texture or geometry
Greetings, What a splendid and dynamic, short and very rich in content tutorial. Really awesome, one of the best I’ve ever seen. Could you, please show as a method of transferring a vrmat material from 3Ds Max to SU as well? It would be also great and I will be truly grateful. Awaiting more treasures from you.
Hi Minh, I have watched the video very carefully step by step and think it's very helpful. To reduce the load of my model I need to use proxies otherwise the pc will throwing up. I did import a tree and a hedge in 2 seperate sessions and each I safed direct as a model and as well after editing in SU / V-ray and safed the proxies as skp files (methode 3). Now I see that the proxy-skp files are 3 times bigger then original model-skp files. What is best to use in my model to keep the model as light as posible?
Ohh that might be because your original was still in the components list, you can open the components windows, and see all components in the model, then purge unused components, then resave it. It should solve the issue. Let me know if it works!
Hi there. Love your channel, awesome work! Can we use proxies for landscape elements like flowers, etc? I'm trying to render a model with much landscaping and the renders aren't starting even after half an hour or so. Could you please suggest a good option. Thanks.
You are the best Minh!!! Do you know where could I find Vray 3.6 to download? And could you make timelapse video ( like the kitchen) doing a exterior render with your light settings? Thanks ninja you are awesome!!!
@@ArchitectureInspirations Thank you Minh for your reply! I'm thinking to create proxies for people and then replace the RPC in Revit. Love your videos! Looking forward to your next video
If I give my sketchup model file to someone else, the proxies disappear from the model when they open it. Maybe because the proxies seperate files linked to the main model. Is there a way to retain the proxies in the model even if the file location is changed on the drive? Or is there a way to make the proxies a part of the main sketchup file?
I'm actually not completely sure I believe so! Not sure if blender can export animated proxy but I think if you have 3ds max and vray for 3ds max, you can export proxy with animation. Then use that in sketchup and render an animation using vray 😄
Thank you for the video. I have a question about the proxy. I am using laubwerk. Everytime I render my model, the objects will add another set of proxy objects. Why is that? and how to clean the object list and material list? I am using version 3.4 btw because it has the least number of bugs in my opinion. THX
Greetings, Would it be possible to present a wrapper material in Vray 3.6 for Sketchup, an exterior scene? Some principle settings and the general approach. Many thanks in advance
Ohh I personally haven't tried that yet but that's a good topic! I'll put it on my list and do some more research. Thank you so much for the suggestion ^.^
Hi AI, in order to speed up my modeling work within sketchup, this proxy method would be a good solution for me, but I usually render my modeling in Lumion rather than vray, so in my case what is your recommendation for me between using proxy component or vray proxy method although I dont use vray? thanks
hello minh here i have a doubt.,. once we converted into proxy and can we take into normal as how it was before we do proxy!! kindly please update me as much as possible
hello, i have a vray 3.4 and when i click export proxy there is no "Export Proxy window", so i don't get the options you refere. in the manual i see that i should have the "Export Proxy window", is there a variable, or option to turn this window on? thanks
Architecture Inspirations thanks. It seems that the proxy's till 3.6 are really too basic. For instance I can't copy paste, like in your tutorial, with the correct materials. Also if I purge the scene, I also loose the materials reference (and in very complex models, purge is mandatory). One way that I work this arround, is to keep a copy of the initial component that was proxyed hided in the model (for example on a turn-off layer) this way the material reference doesn't change. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
I'm having trouble with proxy materials in terms of replacement and replace in scene with vray next 4.01. I did very much exact same way as yours even there are missing feature like Replace, unable to edit proxy vmesh model and there are no way to retain replaced materials in asset editor. Materials not always showing the correct materials in the imported sketch up file. I even gave unique name to each vmat material still not improving the problem of not showing the correct materials.
why is it that when i apply vray bricks to my models they come out as proxy symbols(the one w/ v symbol but w/ color) and not the brick itself. i only noticed this w/ bricks also : how can I get the vray proxy menu ,plus i have vray 3.4
That's probably because it uses a vray tile texture (procedural) instead of a real texture image. Also you need version 3.6 and higher for more proxy options
okay forgot what im saying, lol, i just do double-click and it can't be used to editing the model, is there a way for editing the model after you proxy? or thats why you use 2 windows?
Yeahh that's why, you can't edit after you've used proxy in the model because the geometry is no longer real geometry. That's why I had to go back to the original model, exported again and then reload it on my new scene😊
How to use Proxy Correctly! Also, in the video I mentioned Ctrl+P but it's actually Ctrl +V to Paste, Duh!😂😂

Hi Ming, I see the animated proxy option but how do I make/get them? I want to use it in a project but I have not been able to find out.
Hi, I think you have to get that from 3ds max, and to get it to work, you'd have to render an animation in vray for sketchup as well

It will be faster for sure. But of course it also depends on your CPU too
Could we convert back Model from Proxy ??
You cannot. That's why you should save the original model before using proxy
ouu shit thats Im looking all the day to convert back and he says no 😢 after I do all my model proxy And I need to export file in archicad
Is it possible to do this in vray 3.4?
I believe so, though the proxy Preview types are only available in 3.6 I think
And when I export the files to FBX, for example?
What about it? Not sure I understand your question
you simply just double-click the model for editing proxy right? why do you have to open 2 windows?

No problem Arief! Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help 😊😊
how do i edit the original model
You would have to open the sketchup file of the original model. You can't edit the original by making changes to the proxy.
Thanks! And i have to make a copy and make it to proxy. And then reload?
There is no way to link a skp file to a proxy (from the same file)?
Yeah you would have to reload the proxy component. You can right click and use the reload option 😄

There is a way, it should be on your toolbar 🤔
