I'm sorry, but this doesn't somehow sit well with me. The same man that said this missed three crucial Test matches a year later, for the birth of his daughter. Fatherhood and family are important, and that it takes precedence over anything else you do in life, agreed! Then, wasn't being with the family when his dad passed on, equally important? You could argue that he was young, but he justifies what he did was right till this day. I'm sorry, but it does sound hypocritical to me. Nothing to take away from the fact that he is a phenomenal batsman, and the best in all formats of this generation.

Whatever that Virat Kohli is today, it's all because of his father who wanted him to play at highest level and he was the source to bring in that confidence in Virat. Virat was completely a different package when he started playing in way back in 2010-11 for Team India and today he is lot more different than he was before. His hunger for runs still proves that he is ready to go and achieve more. He is well focused, determined and well disciplined. He is truly a great person.

I remember when Virat came to the scene I use to hate him with a passion due to his brash attitude....but over the years I understood that the brashness was misinterpreted by many, its the deep passion, competitive nature, grit and determination that I have never seen in anybody. Now I am happy to say he turned from someone I used to hate to being my Idol!!...I now have immense amount of respect for Virat for all he brings on and off the field

This is inspiring to hear form someone who has lost his father. I lost mine 2 days ago and I am using his passing as motivation to be better and more successful than ever. I am doing it because it's what he wanted. We spoke over the last few months and I told him that I am going to succeed for him and for my son. It's what he wanted for me.

With his father gone, the son may not know where he can turn in a crisis and feel vulnerable and afraid. This holds true as well for men who had a negative or non-existent relationship with their fathers. Really father's death changed my life as well in 2017 he was passed away & now 2 years I look my self more passionate, more responsible man & hungry to do something big for my family I know it's too hard but when I saw Virat Kholi I'm inspired from his life. How he was fighting for his dreams & now he had Successful person not just for his family is also for his Country. Love from Pakistan :))

I lost my father in june 2022..i have gone through the same thing.. That time i had no emotions idk why but i still remember his tear in his eyes he struggled he fought.. Next day it was my final semester exam i didn't left the paper as my father was happy that u would be graduated.. I still think why it happened to me.. The world hasn't stopped.. Still going on but somewhere my world has changed

Losing parents at young age specially teenage is most tragic thing that can happen.It opens the door of depression if you can't deal with reality.World keeps functioning in same way but your inner world I.e your mind is completely changed.And that hurts most.And if you don't have supportive people around you can have serious mental issues.

I think it actually happens with a lot of people. My grandfather died when I was 11-12 years old. Even though we didn't really connect that often due to living in different cities, it was a really sad moment. It was the first time that someone important in my life died. And I really couldn't cry at his funeral, felt uneasy but not even a single drop of tear. Don't know what the reason was, maybe that it was my first time at a crematorium, but I felt really awkward that day.
