my gosh you two... I finished the whole series, and cried a little during the last episode. I couldn't sleep because I kept picturing scenes from that last episode, so I got up, rewatched it, and this time had a super cry-sob to get it all out. It pretty much broke me, what happened. This series will get under your skin for days after the end.

Right it's similar - Alfred's a butler which is a position above a valet. Like the butler is responsible for the house itself and manages the male staff (housekeeper manages the female staff) while the valet is responsible for the clothing/accessories/toiletries of the master of the house and acts as a personal assistant.
A good point to note with the shining glasses ghost - Why are his glasses shining? What can cause glasses to light up like that, especially when the rest of the person seems to be in shadow?

But here`s my theories so far: 1) The children aren`t really possessed but losing their parents has driven them to some sort of madness. Noone explained to them what happened so they tried to get them back or be reunited with them in any way possible. Like when Miles threw himself from the tree but then went on to strangle a classmate and kill a pigeon, it was all for the purpose of "finding the key" and bringing them back. Also to return home, because his sister told him to as she drew a picture of herself crying, along with 2 people (Owen and Hannah? Or the gardener? Or their parents?) Did she try to protect Dani in the beginning by telling her not to leave her room at night or didn`t they want to be caught walking around? In short, I think the children tried to replace their parents with Jezzel and Pete, or ended up pushing them into the lake for some other reason. Which is why their Uncle wants nothing to do with them. 2) I don`t know what`s up with Hannah but we never see her eating. Is she a ghost or what else is going on? 3) The gardener (forgot her name) and Dani know each other from a "previous life". Is the gardener impersonating someone from her past? Are both of them even real? Is Dani hallucinating? Many more questions but this is getting too long...
Just finished the series. I'll admit that I was disappointed, at first, by how predictable it was. I mean Hill House kept me on edge at almost every turn, but this one was more transparent. In retrospect it was pretty good. It is just that the payoff is much more subtle...but worth waiting for.
I disagree. Well, it depends on what you were expecting really. I had watched a review of the show before I watched it so I was more open minded and prepared for a love story rather than anything like Hill house. As a result, I liked it way more than I thought I would
I disagree as well. However, there are people who hate the ending of Hill House, and I think both endings are absolutely beautiful. Unlike my face after Ugly-Crying when watching them 😭 😉
I absolutely loved it. I knew it wasn't gonna be like Hill House. It may not have been nearly as scary, but it was definitely still creepy. And I fell in love with all of the characters and their stories. I just don't need tons of jumpscares or action to be entertained or invested in a story.
