I love this old song, I sang the chorus to my kids since they were little and they didn't think it was a real song. Now that I've found it I can prove it's real. Yippie to Patti. Lolol
Had a lady friend back in the day and her name was Patricia, Patty for short. I played this song for her in an ice cream shop. Damn, I loved that girl.
I played this for my wife today. It was the first time she ever heard it. She says she's going to teach it to one of her singing students. The legend lives on! If you like this song look up: "Swamp Witch Hatti" and "I Don't Like Spiders and Snakes" Does anyone else remember the one glorious summer that Jim Stafford had his own variety show?
A friend of mine said something that summoned up the very random memory of this song. Swear to god I haven't heard it in a minimum of 30 years, must be longer than that. Well played, sir, well played.
They did this song in the country music show at Kings Island in the early 80s. We had to listen to it 5 times a day 6 days a week all summer because we were located right next to the International Showplace.
Don't think I'll ever get the image of Jim singing this in the movie "Any Which Way You Can". He was sitting in a saddle with only hat, boots and underwear on as he sang it. I think maybe Jim's smoked some 'Wildwood Weed' in his time.
DEDACATED TO BILL LUHE ALIAS (ZEKE) DEGICATED TO BILL BY HIS FATHER WHEN HE WAS KID. HE WAS THE BEST BOSS I EVER HAD & I HAD THE GREATEST ADMERATION FOR HIM, I TRULLY LOVED HIM AS FRIEND. HE ALWAYS CALLED ME BOBBY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE country, I LOVE dub step. For some reason when I found this song on a record I played it on my dad's record player I just loved it because I found it so funny
Spoiler alert: He is actually. Specifically, he's using farce and wordplay to point out that at their core cowboy ballads are essentially full of sh**.
can't believe anyone would thumbs down this , this is a classic, as good as Ray Stevens, I still Laugh my ass off every time I hear it.
I genuinely thought I imagined this song. So glad to have found it here in the year 2023

My kids when I played this video:
"Jesus Christ, that thing is REAL?!"
I didn’t know it was a real song either! My big brother used to sing it all the time when we were kids. 😂
My dad sang this and I always thought he made it up😂
Jim stafford wrote it

Stafford was/is a comic genius. I was a DJ back in the early 80s at a country station. LOVED playing this. Much better than "Beers to You".
My mom doesn't understand why I like novelty music so much, but I remember her singing this to me when I was a kid.
My sister and I used to sing this song for others. Usually when we were drunk. A childhood classic!!
My sister and I used to laugh because my nickname is Patty
I love Jim Stafford, he has some great songs
I love this song. Dr Demento brought me to so many classics

"40 shots rang out,
40 people fell.
Patti and The Killer missed each other but they shot that town to hell." :) lol
Best line in the whole song!! 😂🤣
I don't always like country music, but when I do............ I like COW PATTI!
"You got to watch your step when you know the chips are down"! Words to live by! ;-)

Spiders & Snakes was Ralph & David Bellamy's first commercial success
“My name is Cow Patti. You killed my daddy. Prepare to die…”
I first heard this at night on the Dr Demento show back in the 80s. Good times!!!
Pure genius!!! One of my all-time favorites.
I like this song, and have liked it the first time I heard it
My sister just got a 1968 yamaha 75 cc 2 stroke running, that belong to my aunt. She sent me a clip and all I could think of was this song.

This needs to be made into a bad Lifetime movie!
My oldest sister had a moped in '81 and us younger 3 kids teased her relentlessly when this song came out
Excellent musical performance !
I like it.... Hahaha
Thanks for the giggles.
I can just imagine you singing that to Sandy.
Hahaha. Great music
I have loved this song since it came out. (I was in high school at the time.)
And they said if you was to kill him, it'd only make him mad...
I first heard this song in the '80s when Jim Stafford performed it on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson. :)
I am glad this was up loaded Thank you very much

Sherry Walker Ya think?
He had a tough time flying up on that windmill to rescue his brother Bill!
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to call you on your bloomers, ma'am"
I love this song
Just reminds me of another song
Just about everything has been said but my little sisters name was Patty we had a lot of fun with that song
Back when Country music was good...
"Killer hit town at daybreak, ate the door off the local saloon."
OK this is on my favorites list. I love to laugh!
😭 legend
LOL! Love that old song!
Cows with guns
Yippie-yay; Cow Patti!
2021..???
This is a Dr Demento classic.
Last time I heard this was on Dr. Demento! Yippy ay yay cow patty!
Same singer of "Spiders and Snakes"?
That's the fella.
It has a CW McCall vibe to it. Omaha?
Watch your step when you know the chips are down!
It was on the Dr. Demento CD set
Still funny.
Cow patties
They shot that town to hell! 😝🤣😂
For a "B Side" go listen to "Bad Blood" by The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.
Anybody know who did a completely different version about militant cows?
Dana Lyons -- "Cows with Guns" Wasn't really a version of this though, they both used a folk ballad style, but that's about it.
Wouldn't have made a bad clip.
OOPS! Forgot a "yay"!
😂😂😂
Lol 😂

One of them songs that was cool and funny as a kid now ....just kinda stupid
You're still a kid if you are using words like "them songs" and "kinda".
If I didn't know better, I'd swear he was singing about bull shit!
Spoiler alert: He is actually. Specifically, he's using farce and wordplay to point out that at their core cowboy ballads are essentially full of sh**.
