I had the distinct pleasure of flying from Germany to USA on a Gulfstream V 2 years ago. (No I'm not rich and I don't have rich friends, it's a long story). In any case, the thing about this plane that impressed me the most was how quiet it was. I know that sounds silly...but there is something about having a big comfortable seat AND being able to carry on conversations with people in a completely normal tone. I'd guess that the cabin was about 10x quieter than a normal commercial jet. I guess it's something you have to appreciate, but I just couldn't believe how much the "quietness" of the airplane made a difference in a long flight...in addition to the all first-class seating, etc.
@@polopol123450 - alright Stevie, I'll give it to you...I won't make it too long. I'm active duty military, and one of the cool benefits we have is we can fly on military aircraft anywhere they are headed in the world (except combat zones) as long as they have space available. Typically this means flying in relatively uncomfortable and loud, and often old C-17, C-5, or KC-130s most of the time. Nothing sexy, but considering it's free...we are not complaining (I've taken my family to Hawaii 6 times, Europe 4 times, Japan, etc) So...in Dec 2017, my family an I flew over to Germany and spend Christmas in the Alps (I know...hard life) (The only reason we could afford to do this was the free military flights.) Anyway, at the end of our vacation, we went to Ramstein Airbase to try and get a flight home to the USA. There was a C-130 flying back to the USA, but they couldn't let anyone on for some reason (probably sensitive cargo onboard). So as we were at the terminal asking about the C130, they got word that they had to reposition one of the VIP (4-star generals) airplanes back to Andrews AFB in the USA, and they could let exactly 5 people onboard. (I have a wife and 3 kids...5 total). So they offered the seats to my family...and they didn't have to ask twice. The plane was a US Government-owned Gulfstream G550...and we were just in the right place at the right time. So, for basically a 9-hour flight from Germany back to the USA, we had our own private G5, and the flight cost us nothing. Nobody onboard except my wife, kids, and the aircrew. Definitely a once in a lifetime type opportunity.
Another great video. As far as private business jets are concerned, the Gulfstream V is the top of the class. It’s incredible range, and plethora of comfort amenities are legendary.
For simplicity's sake: G500/G600 are both considered the GVII generation, but are officially taking over the G450's and G550's spots respectively. The G650 (GVI) is still the flagship and the largest, most opulent, most expensive Gulfstream. Source: I maintain them.
Funny that you'd include Tom Cruise. WAY back in "the day" I flew TC and his wife at the time (Nicole Kidman) in their brand new GIV from Appleton(where they delivered it) back to California with his personal pilot who was newly typed. After we took a tour of the U-P and Lake Superior he invited me in back and spent a good hour or so just talking about everything other than movies, fame etc...mostly flying as I flew in the Navy at the same time he was making "TOP GUN" and had spent time at Mirimar as well. At that time he was a super nice guy. As well...Nicole was also really nice and very unpretentious. This was prior to the age of the "Selfie" but I do have a picture of us after we landed.
I've flown the G-II, G-III, G-IV, G-V, G-450 and the G-550 aircrafts. And I can tell you my favorites are GV and G550. The Gulfstream V is a no excuse aircraft. You can push it to its limits comfortably unlike the Global Express.
I have an old friend, like myself, he is also a professional pilot and ordered his whole career to get to fly a Gulfstream Jet for a living. Even going so far as to pay for a type rating out of his own pocket. Got thousands of hours in Falcon 20's flying freight and thousands more in the likes of Beech 18's. Due to things beyond our control, my career like his never was as fruitful as we would have liked- I am 65 he was 12 years older than me, he never got into a Gulfstream seat. Lost his medical due to some health issues. Now I am working on my own health issues. I never went to jets, I stuck with turboprops and helicopters. These days I fly part-time, mostly just during the summers. I am looking at retirement soon. As for the G-V's or the G-550's they are in a class all their own. Getting a Job flying one well that is the gold standard for a pilot in my opinion.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. How does he have so few subs? The other guys just read internet articles and use 100 words where 10 would suffice and they have way more subs
@@filespec Almost certainly. If we keep watching and keep liking he should eventually hit a decent number, but TBH I quite like the "nice clique"-ish feel of this place, even the comments here are usually nice, which can be unusual on YT!
Wonderful video! Gulfstream is my favorite aircraft, bar none!!!! Haveing trouble keep8ng up with name variations, buy non the less, LIVE MY GUKFSTREAMS! From the G1- to G-Infinity! Beautiful aircraft!
In 2014, Creflo Dollars GIII ran off the runway and airframe damaged In 2015 he asked his 200,000 followers for $300 each, so he could buy a G650... For ministry purposes.
A G650 cannot takeoff and land at small airports. It needs longer runways. At least 6,000 ft. Runways also need to be able to handle +90,000# It has a BOW of 54,000#Fuel Capacity of 44,200# Max takeoff weight of 99,600# Which means, for full 7500 mile flight, it has a max pax and bag capacity of 1400# Not going to be doing any "missionary work", flying "medical supplies" into remote Africa or South America
I’m enjoying all of your history on the g 5 but before Mark Cuban received his G5 at love field Dallas Tom Hicks was the first one to get a G5 at Dallas live field
One word....... WOW!!! I'm guessing that certain models in the G-500 and 550 line is aimed at the very very rich Oil tycoons and Royal Families in the Middle East
you said the G500 model it's on the top it is the 650 model that has it on the top. The 550 was the GV redo with EVS the 500 was a non-EVS model. The 650 came out next. Sorry I just wanted to tell you so you can be aware.
Also, Mark Cuban was not the one of the first owners. That was the largest eBay purchase. He did not buy it from Gulfstream. Please keep facts straight.
I love how Gulfstream jets look!
Look awesome) The new models even better

Wow what an experience
Flying at over 50,000 ft in one of the G5s keeps one above the peasants in their Learjets.

Is it really good?
I love your channel. So honest and interesting. Also very comprehensive.
Over the past year I've gotten to work with gulf stream very closely I always enjoy visiting their various buildings in Savannah Ga.
Yeah I worked for Wastecare too once.
You are the best plane reviewer on the internet hands down. Have seen all your vids. Love your work
I rode a GV for an empty leg this year. A very rare lucky day for me and my friend! Probably won’t happen again.
You have a gift to keep one entertained throughout your videos. Amazing as always!

ZIGZAG! Agree. I’d love to meet Sky in person and tLk about aviation and even life in general.
Yeah, it would be terrible to be forced to fly on one of those dumpy G4s. :-)

Sky ship, quotes of the day 1."flying limos" 2."if you're trying to suck up to VIP's"

3. "If the G5 is outdated, the G550 and G500 booklets will always help you with an idea for a gift."
Im flying on this next week.
The Gulfstream V kitchen is larger and better equipped than my FREAKIN APARTMENT!!!!

Could you do something like this for the dassault falcon 50/900?
I think it was nearly a cool $ 64 million for the 650 And a two year waiting list at one particular time . Just a superb aircraft .
Thanks Sky
Somehow I knew that quote from Tropic Thunder would be in here lol

The series of Cessna Citations are a more economical choice for the more typical missions types for business aviation! haha
True but they are more like the Toyota Corollas of aircraft
Very very nice...
I subscribed just now as motivation to do the work to own one.
Wow!! Smooth landing 1:44
Great Business Buying Ever since
Все ещё голосую за сюжет по л-42! Простихаспади импортозамещения!
This plane is good, but the new models are way better
41t is more than 19000lbs. good call
Plz Skyships do a video about dc-9 and md-80/90!
Nice little plane for poor people. Personally, I prefer my private 747. I had a fireplace and a hot tub installed in it.
You peasant. Where'd ya buy it Walmart? My A380 has solid gold sewage pipes.
Heck, mine has a bowling alley and a swimming pool.
IL 96-300 vip or Tu 204-300 vip anytime?
Does my IL-62 count? I like to announce my arrival quietly ;)
at 1:48 when talking about the G-IV SP you show footage of an ancient G-III.
Gulfstream G650 is coming soon)
The G650 was out in 2008. You are thinking of the G650ER which yes should make its first delivery next year or this year.
Andrew C he means video is coming soon pumpkin
I had one of these. My ex-wife and my lawyer took it. Now they're togehter.
50 000 feet??? Daaamn
Grant Cardone has a sweet one. Some nice footage on his channel.
I heard they're going to develop one that's fueled with poor people.
77 cent's in my account and Im here wondering where I'd travel to first when I buy one
What normal people would buy with 20 million dollars: insert expensive house here
What I would buy with 20 million:
G5, and lotsa money!
Apple bottom Jean's, boots with the fur!
If I buy a G5, I'll make everyone call me "Sky King".
Jesse McCartney, referenced the, G5 in his song, "Leavin", which was a track listed on his third studio album, Departure.
About to trade in my Camry for a G5.
I thought they are 8GT now or 7GT
Can you cover the Bombardier express next?
Linda aeronave
I work here! :D
I don’t believe that jets become obsolete. They will be used safely for their entire projected life, it changes hands not obsolete.
Less Desirable? Less Ego Support? BCSD no?
I’m here because of Tom Cruise.
you said the G500 model it's on the top it is the 650 model that has it on the top. The 550 was the GV redo with EVS the 500 was a non-EVS model. The 650 came out next. Sorry I just wanted to tell you so you can be aware.
There’s a current production G500 that requires a G-VII type rating.
I will ask for more hours at Walmart. A hundred years from now I can afford one
