That's good to know then. Keep my expectations in check
So these pilots are "manufactured", they augmented them by injecting "coral" into them. Then they connect their nerves to the mech and they sell them to people called "handlers". Handler walter bought unit 617, 619, and 620 and sent them on a mission. Most of them die except 617, so to replenish his "hounds," he goes back to the scientist to buy 621, which is assumed to be you, the player character, augmented human C4-621.
@@1986Hikaru while that IS possible, why would they call him 621 on the operating table instead of 617? Im not discrediting it though I just think that its more likely that 617 is alive and is probably gonna get 621 (us) as his new partner or something
617 is alive, "627 is down" not signal lost or vital lost. I think they re augmented 617 to C4-621 which make a lot of sense since in the last trailer there is "Why hide behind another cal sign" stuff, My gues it related to "C4" call sign.
The Armored Core games all tend to have a lot of lore-based storytelling. The plot is usually simple, but the games immerse you in a world that you can learn about at your leisure. It's more about how the world makes you feel, and what the game does do you as a player by the end of it all. If nothing else, this story trailer really sets the tone: it's a cold, brutal, uncaring world. There is no humanity, just steel, bullets, and money. And you aren't missing out on anything by not playing the other 5 games. All of them are very good, and I do recommend checking them out. But each numbered entry is basically a reboot, so you aren't missing context for any settings, characters, or plot. AC6 takes this a step further and isn't even taking place in the same solar system this time.
Just recently got back into AC, just the games release for PSP and Xbox360. From what I can tell from the trailer is that the 3 mechs are from a flashback of a previous mission operation manned by Pilot 617, 619, and 620 which ends up completed but at the cost of all pilots on site. Definitely feel like that the body there is US, as Pilot 621, being strapped into the AC as an expendable soldier. Dark and Gritty... Definitely Armored core and FromSoft alright.
which fits in perfectly to the fact that we can switch builds between checkpoints. to add more, they are called hounds vs the regular raven mercs who are actually mostly normal humans piloting the mechs. the hounds are the numbered pilots who seemingly are connected to via a neural connection and brought back to life by coral injections. we, the player are obviously a hound. the second trailer at its midpoint one of the operators asks us take out a raven. so it's good to see that the term raven is still being used in this game but for the normal pilot ac mercs.
Each generation of Armored Core is its own unique self-contained universe just like Final Fantasy. Armored Core 1 and 2 are the only exception as both share the same universe but completely different stories, time and setting (Think of Dark Souls 1 and 2). Armored Core 3, 4, 5, 6 each have their own unique universe, style, lore and setting, just the same way that Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls and Elden Ring are each their own unique thing but all share similarities.

Yeah, we were open about not really knowing anything of the series. We've been gaming for decades so we know of Armored Core but it's in passing. It's not that serious, don't act elitist and gatekeep.

One of the demo videos by Arekkz gaming said it was a soft reboot, so I took that at face value.
@ ah no problem doods. I just wanna put it out there. Sorry if I sounded condescending. I'm kinda in an inverse to you guys before. Never liked the idea of the AC guys making dark fantasy. Not until bloodborne was announced and it made me go back to try dark souls 1. Never regretted that decision. If you like soul's I'm pretty sure you'll come to like AC. Especially the customizations. Already confirmed you can make decals and change luster/ weathering. So I'm expecting and AC with racing decals and stickers everywhere. See you guys on the battlefield.
Given it 'woke up' after they pulled the plug. They're probably not plugging his meat body back in it. A full Conversion upload (Ala Ghost in the Shell) is more likely. It even helps justify respawn mechanics if they're now a full upload, something test players have said it has.
THE FACT THE AC SHOWED EMoTION jaming his gattling rifle into the neck of a boss and before then over powering its momentum and crushing weight with its boosters over driving is enough for me, that battle station slicing an entire AC into particles, short burst counter measure boosters, oof im ready for this game
