Everyone agrees that their relationship was toxic because Jade was overly jealous and in a way I think it was because of her insecurities. She was very jealous of every girl who even came close to Beck and in a way I think she had the right to do so as he never tried to stop those girls. I think that beck never tried to fight off those girls was because he didn't think much of it as he was very much in love with Jade that he didn't even think she would feel that way. Her flaw was to always jump to conclusions and never tried to actually have an honest and peaceful conversation with him about her troubles which would resort to him brushing it off as her being possesive. In her defense taking in her personality, who she is, which is very clear that she doesn't like people touching her things (in this case would be Beck (I know Beck is his own person but for the sake of explaining just bare with me)) she would try anything so she doen't lose him. She usually is very closed off which would explain why she doesn't try to communicate with Beck as much. At the end of everything I do think they were madly in love with each other but obviously there wasn't much communication. They compliment each other so well that it just FITS. For them to break up was very much needed, they had been together for so long with this miscommunication that they each needed time to think, process and have space. That was the healthiest thing for them to do in order to keep their relationship alive. I took this opinion or conclusion I guess based on my experience, the difference was that Beck and Jade survived. In mine the time to heal was wayyyy to gone. No Beck was not the toxic one alone both of them were but Jade was the more toxic one. He always was the calm one in their relationship but every time he lost his calm they broke up. Their breakup scene in season 3 was so painful because Beck was constantly saying he wanted to speak to her and she never listened. And people who say that Beck flirts with other girls is actually not true either. I mean in the pilot when Tori asked him to kiss her he couldn't have said no because they were acting and there is an actor's rule for improv that you can't say no. And at the karaoke where the girl was touching him and his hair, he tried to dodge her off but he was the Canadian nice guy who didn't want to be rude ever. And as for Jade she had anger issues and jealousy issues but she loved him. But sometimes she could have trusted her boyfriend and listened to him instead of screaming at him all the time. But then again they were just teenagers
