After hearing Fruit of Life for the first time a couple of years ago I couldn't believe I'd never heard of this band before. When you look at the dross that makes it into the charts and onto the radio, it just sucks!
Another Adam Carolla listener here. Just listened to his podcast and he mentioned this band and played this song. I must say that this never got played on the East Coast. It's a shame... it should have been a bigger hit.
I did playback for this video. Set up on the roof then waited hours while they shot B roll downstairs. Someone saw a pipe on the 101 freeway and thought it was a bomb. A news helicopter hovered for about 90 minutes directly above me. The director didn't know the difference between the verse and the chorus. Never saw the video until today.
Thanks for the recommendation Adam Carolla! Carolla has impeccable taste in music and really should get paid for making some playlists that could be downloaded on iTunes, imao
Thanks Aceman! I'd heard this a couple of times on an alt. college radio station 15 years ago, and hadn't heard it since, never knowing who the band was.
I agree with jm01031976 on this one. Yes, they are one of the most underrated and still undiscovered bands of all time. They are similar in sound to Cake and No Doubt but still different in their own right to be noteworthy.
I was introduced to Angela's vocals and can't believe not heard too much before. I have discovered a little gem now in the process of buying all back log. Angela has an amazing vocal .
A lost classic, I remember hearing this song on the radio in the 90's while delivering pizzas, I had forgotten the name of the song and band. It wasn't until like 20 years later I found it on the internet, damn you gotta love technology. Whatever happened to this band?
off the beaten path song from the '90s I remember on Jed the Fish. October '96. Great time to be a teenager. Stuff like that. Never saw or even thought to look up the video till now. Surprised there is one. I don't see anything "dated" about it to be honest. Noticeable is one of the band members plays violin. Except for Madness, I can't think of another such group. Much happiness at hearing this recording for the first time since my last tape player conked out sometime last (unmemorable) decade.
Camper Van Beethoven (the band that would later become cracker) had a prominent violin. 10000 maniacs had one too I believe. Two modern indie rock acts which do (and you may want to Check out) are Enter the Haggis and Carbon Leaf
@@dennisrounds1996 I'll look them up. That's cool. The one chick I remember from then who also played violin was Tracy Bonham. I remember Cracker from the song "I Hate My Generation". Of course, Dave Matthews Band had violin. I suppose there were a few. Just a nice thing to appreciate. Oh yeah, toats magoats - Because the Night. Awesome.
@@dennisrounds1996 I looked up two of the songs and the Magic 8-Ball points to "You're Canadian", which changes the dialogue a bit, because you Canucks - largely thanks to your relatively homogeneous settlement - have developed a musical culture free of rock influences, allowing Celtic influences to flourish. I am not being pedantic, by the way. I am an American who spent a lot of his youth in Canada and also someone who pays attention to musical culture, yeah, you're a Canadian, dude. Much love from the states!
In my head cannon the protagonist emerges from the video having grown as a person and somehow gets together with the wretch from the Interstate Love Song video, who is also much changed.
You can't be anything but honest 'Cause there's magic in your head There's no forgiveness in the air 'Cause it's warmer in your bed So what's it like to live inside A world you'll never really share What's it like to live inside A world that doesn't really care Lying awake in the dead of the night Seeing my life and it's not looking bright I'm freezing to death in the warmth of your arms I'm wasting my charms A man indeed who could not bleed Except with ink and blood and bone He couldn't find a way to speak Of life and death he stood alone His every waking moment cried Enough to make him feel too much He couldn't face the truth and lied Recoiled from his lover's touch Lying awake in the dead of the night Seeing my life and it's not looking bright I'm freezing to death in the warmth of your arms I'm wasting my charms It's my choice to save my life It's my choice to throw the dice It's my choice Lying awake in the dead of the night Seeing my life and it's not looking bright I'm freezing to death in the warmth of your arms I'm wasting my charms x3 x2 (also, thanks Adam Carolla!)
R.I.P. Angela 😮💨
I can't remotely imagine how after a decade this song only has 45K views. This is one of the truly under-appreciated songs of the 1990s.
Most underrated band in history.

RIP Angela. Just heard. Saw you guys live open for King Crimson in San Diego in the late 90s. Sad day.
Very underated band, they are so tight, so talented, super energy... I will always be a fan!
Any band that opens for King Crimson is good :)

I agree with jm01031976 on this one. Yes, they are one of the most underrated and still undiscovered bands of all time. They are similar in sound to Cake and No Doubt but still different in their own right to be noteworthy.
I heard this over a decade ago, and it took me a decade to find it. Brilliant and cool song. It should be way more popular.
Ace man!
Brought here by the Aceman!
I was introduced to Angela's vocals and can't believe not heard too much before. I have discovered a little gem now in the process of buying all back log. Angela has an amazing vocal .

2020 y’all. Operation coronavirus
it musta charted somewhere...did you look into charts positions back in 1996?
You can't be anything but honest
'Cause there's magic in your head
There's no forgiveness in the air
'Cause it's warmer in your bed
So what's it like to live inside
A world you'll never really share
What's it like to live inside
A world that doesn't really care
Lying awake in the dead of the night
Seeing my life and it's not looking bright
I'm freezing to death in the warmth of your arms
I'm wasting my charms
A man indeed who could not bleed
Except with ink and blood and bone
He couldn't find a way to speak
Of life and death he stood alone
His every waking moment cried
Enough to make him feel too much
He couldn't face the truth and lied
Recoiled from his lover's touch
Lying awake in the dead of the night
Seeing my life and it's not looking bright
I'm freezing to death in the warmth of your arms
I'm wasting my charms
It's my choice to save my life
It's my choice to throw the dice
It's my choice
Lying awake in the dead of the night
Seeing my life and it's not looking bright
I'm freezing to death in the warmth of your arms
I'm wasting my charms x3
x2
(also, thanks Adam Carolla!)
