- Sew an easy scarf with 86yr old man sewing tutorial. An easy sewing tutorial for beginners with 86yr old Eric making a designer scarf in his local Age Concern Club in West London. To show how easy it is to sew a simple scarf I got this 86yr old man that has never sewn before to make one in minutes. And wow...didn't he do well?? Thanks Eric you were Brilliant!

Oh....I know, it's very precious to me. Eric is now 95years old and still fit and well. He loves watching football and cowboy films and still makes it to the OAP club once a week. X

That's so......true! He was up for anything and very brave of him to take this on but he really did it in the end. I only got Eric to make this lovely scarf so as to prove that anyone can do it.

Yes, I had actually just fallen out of bed and into the Pensioners Club as had been suffering with flu so thought if I wore something really bright nobody would notice.

Hello Rachel, great news about you buying a Mini JL machine. You might need a selection of different needles (universal mixed sizes) and maybe some stretch fabric needles. You'll also need a short/little, slotted screw driver to change the needles but that's it really, oh appart from thread the same colour as your fabric. Start with How to make an Cowl / infinity scarf or The scarf that the 86yr old made. Don't be too ambitious when starting out, rely on using gorgeous fabric.

Hello Tegan, no not at all it's 100% Italian wool left over from a Mathew Williamson Collection. (posh stuff basically) But you can make it out of any material that you like the look of. Use up old blankets or throws, I show you the techniques and you go off and create your own designs using your favourite fabrics.

It's a kind of cross over dress that I've worn as a coat thing. And I made matching dropped crotch, harem style pants to go with it.

Yes I know, that's why I try to show such a wide variety of unlikely sewing charachers sewing for the 1st time. Also, sewing on such an unintimidating machine helps too!

I must say,, as for someone that hasn't sewn much this clearly was not a video for teaching. The title shuld have been "Making fun of Eric". Great Magic Trick however! Ok.. So Eric put his hand inside of the scarf and turned the scarf inside out. HOW IN THE WORLD did Eric do this black magic?! He clearly sewed both sides of the scarf and two angles on the end. And, Eric did this twice! hmmmm. I'm absolutely clueless as to what has taken place and i clicked on this expecting to learn how to sew an easy scarf. This should not have been a "how to video". Nothing was how to anything. You should work on your patience with people as well. I hope i'm never put in a position like this. Eric felt stupid and it wasn't b/c he did a bad job. (WHY WAS THE CAMERA ON YOUR FACE AND NOT THE REST). #Worthless
1.)Don't know how it was flipped
2.Nothing was easy but hard according to what i saw
3.) No camera on preparing the material so i guess i'll have to click on another video and "hope" it's not like this one.
4.) I can't take this! The camera man shuld have stayed home watching golf!
+Jase C What a shame you felt like this....It was a long time ago and so I just watched it back. It does film me too much but the content is there and Eric did make the scarf. He also really enjoyed learning to sew the scarf and went on to make 1 more. His family have loved watching the video too. It was a bit of fun, sometimes people take sewing too seriously......I try to make it a bit light hearted. Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback. Tree
