Not exactly....more structured than paint, but not as ridgid as PowerPoint.
If you grant students editor access from the Share button, won’t they be able to edit the original Jam?
Yes. If you don't want them to edit, don't give them editing access.

She can't see the toolbar in Jamboard?
What type of device is she using?
@@jrsowash She has a chromebook. She can see everything on the toolbar except for the pen which is covered (I beleive by the web bar).
