Absolutely love it, and its a harrowing, important experience that left me feeling humbled to live in an age where i have a roof and comforts. That said, i never tried the 2 guard system, usually i have the shelter security maxed out, at least 2 guns in my base, and that usually works. Plus, i dont know how to predict when i will get attacked.
I'm so happy to hear that other people love this game as much as I do. I've heard some people do playthroughs with specific challenges in mind such as surviving on vegetables only or 100% non-violent. Are there any others? I'm thinking I might do one of those. It sounds like fun.

I know this comment is 8 years old now, but try Tyranny. There are some really hard choices in that game. Some are the "best of the worst" option where no matter what you pick, someone gets hurt.
Pressing "End Day" will accelerate everything as if you waited for the whole time. This means people resting in the middle of the day can wake up well rested. The same applies for any time-dependent crafting processes.

Oh, this game. Have actually seen several people doing this already, but I am very excited to see how you handle things. And how long you will be able to keep your people safe. As you said, food is a good thing and something you will not have too much of any time soon, but alcohol and tobacco stuff can be very worthwhile for barter. But I dont want to spoil too much, let us see how you manage before handing out recommendations. I think you may actually do pretty fine. One thing though: You may want to check out the entire area first to see if there is stuff in the way that requires you to bring certain tools (like here: check if there are more piles that need the shovel). If you know you have already removed all obstacles somewhere, you wont have to bring anything along with you and have more space for loot, no? You are right about Bruno: He needs less water (and fuel?) to cook, which is great. For some reason, this also works when he is brewing alcohol.

Try to always double tap when ordering commands to make them run. Don't hold back if something not cool is happening to someone as you may get rewarded. Try to always bring a weapon and several lockpics or a crowbar when going to a new area. Make sure to upgrade your base defences quickly and build rain collector. Feed your guys only if they are very hungry to minimalize loss of resources. Btw - another polish game :D Ending the day is accellerating every action you made them to do. Don't focus on moonshine initially you need supply of water, some weapons and a place to grow vegetables first.

I would say this game has quite a bit of replay ability. Each pass opens up more characters and scenarios. It's taking me several attempts to learn new things and figure out useful details (like when one character is depressed you can send one of the others to talk to them). loved this game i got it because of your lp thanks chris!!
Here you must deal with a world full of fully armed bandits, needy neighbours, ungrateful victims, and stingy traders who'd expect a diamond, medical supplies, and meat for a cigarette, with a band of easily guilt ridden drunkard friends who are prone to in fighting, deserting, and are incompetent house guards.

You don't need to start fueling the heater yet. It's more than warm enough. Also, if you're short on food it's fine to have your people go without food for up to 4 days, after that they'll go to starving and you'll have to feed them twice to get them back to very hungry and four times in total if you don't want them to be hungry at all. This has some negligible negative effects but those don't really matter at all if you're not planning to get shot at.
This game is the only experience where I went from a goody-two-shoes to a heartless bandit so naturally that I didn’t even notice it. When raiders take your stuff every night, your survivors are wounded without bandages, and food is running out, that elderly couple down the street with their stockpile looks more tempting than they first appeared.
According to Wikipedia, this game differs from other war themed games by focusing on the civilian experience rather than the frontlines. That's going to be really interesting I think :)
getting a routine is key. bartering is very useful, so i recommend a still. upgrade the crafting stations, so it unlocks better gear options. prepare for winter!
Good start, though you missed that there was another rubble pile downstairs that could have used the shovel. VEGETABLES holy crap I cannot stress their usefulness enough, especially with Bruno.
You can use right click to run, and to loot or leave a stack of items. Also, slightly sick and hurt people don't need medications of any kind, just resting in beds a couple of times. Glad to see a not witcher game.
also beginner note for newcomers: Pavel the runner is decent for the "dangerous sniper" version of the city area. you can save a guy, but you have to be fast and armored. good reward

Oh dear, I have a fear for next episode. If he prioritizes the moonshine maker over the rainwater collector he is gonna be in trouble. Can't make the moonshine without a good bit of water and sugar (which is hard to come by). Cant cook without the water either. It's gonna be rough, but so is everything in this game.
I survived on hard for 30 days without water collecter. The trick is have every one eat till they are still Hungary, then the next day they will be just hungry. Saves lots of food cause you use 1 meat per person without water

Also some people implant magnets inside their fingers and ,after months of healing, they can sense electromagnetic fields. But, of course, a simple magnet inside a finger is not enough to reconstruct a screen.
I've seen a bit of this game on another channel and my immediate impression was that it's pretty punishingly hard if you don't know what you're doing. Gonna be interesting to see how you fare, especially once the morality choices start popping up.

If you make a crowbar it basically functions as a lockpick with multiple uses but it is also a lot louder than lockpicks.
