Anyone that's watched any of varg's youtube videos can see why an organization like vice news would make something like this to try and smear his name. Nobody knows that euronymous was the one that was obsessed with the black metal image and fucked varg out of money while varg was on his label, so varg left euronymous' label. This is when word started to get around that euronymous was a sketchy dick and people started to distance themselves from him. Upset about this, euronymous started to tell people that he was going to kidnap and torture varg after inviting varg to his place to discuss a contract. This is the night euronymous was murdered. It doesn't sound like any of this was in the movie. So, take it for what it is. Just a movie.

Black metal was born due to death metal becoming a generic Morrisound standard. It became boring. You want something far darker, listen to the extremes of Doom.
I actually felt that way about black metal at one point after listening to it a lot. I went heavily into some more slower and heavier doom It sounded so hopeless and desolate and yet beautiful at the same time.
This Mayhem story has been told countless times no need for a stupid, cheesy movie. It’s just a quick cash grab for the band and everyone involved in this garbage excuse of a movie. A Dissection/ Jon Nödtveidt documentary would be nice though. Jon was a very talented musician compared to mayhem.

A lot of people are dumb in their early 20s. They've just had the chance to jump into the adult. They've barely had any chance to mature with life experience as adults. This is why we tend to call people in their early 20s kids.
Physically adults but when it comes to maturity and life experience they are still kids. They are at an age where they fully understand and are fully responsible for their actions, but they haven't matured mentally. You need life experience in the adult world and at late teens or early 20s your thrown into the adult words with barely any experience. Early 20 somethings can be pretty stupid. While we should expect responsibility and maturity from early 20s somethings, there's a reason why we call them kids.
She took on all a moralist view of the movie hahaha and that sounds kinda pathetic for a person who works with culture and arts in general... She can't hide the disgusting tone in the questions, she can have any reaction she wants, but it's terrible to watch an interview like that.
I don't think it matters that she doesn't know about black metal, it's supposed to be a film for a broader audience and not just a the tiny amount of people who considered themselves black metal fans, but she seems to have been very confused about the plot and didn't take any notes or do anything in the way of research. She rambled on and on and didn't let Rory talk much, and seemed more interested in voicing her shock and moral dismay at the events portrayed in the film rather than asking intelligent questions. A person who knows nothing about the musical genre could still ask thoughtful questions about the themes of the film. I think there's a lot that could be explored on the issue of toxic masculinity, and about groupthink within small subcultures, what happens to a person when their mask becomes their face, when you're trying so hard to live up to your persona that you don't even really know your true self anymore.
