  • Taking Cattle Panels Home in a Pickup Truck | Cattle Panel Trellis Inspired by Roots and Refuge. How do you take cattle panels home using a pickup truck? Here is an easy option that we used to bring cattle panels home. We talk about some safety tips, and how many cattle panels you can comfortably fit in the back of a pickup truck. We picked up our 16ft. cattle panels from Tractor Supply for about $23 a piece. This video is inspired by the cattle panel trellises featured in many of Roots and Refuge Farm's videos. We will be using the cattle panels to create vertical gardening by turning them into arched trellises. We can't wait to share our process with you!

    Great video! What you are talking about getting past without scratching is the top of the wheel well....the wheel hub is actually what your wheel is bolted to.

      I was thinking, I've only known it to be called a wheel well. We used to sit on them while riding in the back of trucks down dirt roads. So many years ago now. Lol.

    This is hysterical that this video popped up in my suggestions. I was at a friends house yesterday and we were talking about the R&R video about cattle panels and how we would get them home!

    I had to teach the guy at Tractor Supply how to do this, he and my spouse were standing there, OK, so HOW are we supposed to put them in an 8 foot bed. Once I showed them, they were like "DUH". LMAO!!!!

    I just filmed us getting ours last night😂 Chris and the guy at tractor supply loaded them. He has an 8 foot bed so we just folded them in half and used ratchet straps attached to the bed sides to hold them in. Our video will be posted this weekend!! Can’t wait to see what they look like in your garden!

    I got 2 cattle-panels (16 ft) home on my Jetta wagon. The reached from the front of the hood to the just over the bumper. No red flag needed and no tension. I could probably carry 5 or 6. The limit being can you see through them since they hang over the front window.

    My Dad would have said, “very carefully” for the answer and tada! video done. lol But your tutorial was way more helpful. It does help if u have a very tough bed liner too , eek!! My visual brain just saw scratches in the trucks paint job as I saw you all load until I saw the liner. I think I would want to rent the big mama truck from Home Depot. But I would also be nervous I would mess up my husband’s small work truck. Oh, and btw, your horse is so beautiful and your mini is so stinking adorable!! We handled mini’s for an event and it was a treat and exhausting as we walked them all over a park all day.

    • @SunshineFarm
      @SunshineFarm  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a really good point! I have ZERO knowledge on trucks, so I would never have even considered damage to the truck bed. Thank you for bringing this up! & thank you for the complements on our ponies. We certainly love them. 💛

    How can i get 20' 8" drainage tiles for cat tunnels in pickup truck?

  • @jeanneann1374
    @jeanneann1374 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is MUCH easier in reverse, we been doing this a long time. We use 2 people and can fit 17 cattle and hog panels. Straps do help but you will need to lay flat in opposite direction when you get home...

    • @SunshineFarm

      Thomas Valley Farms can you explain what you mean? That sounds awesome!

    • @greenhousehomestead8047
      @greenhousehomestead8047 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't get what you mean by "in reverse"...? Do you mean to put the bend toward the front of the bed instead of the back? Or, maybe you mean to bend them and tie the ends together first, and then slide the bundle into the truck bed? Or something else?

    • @SunshineFarm
      @SunshineFarm  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for asking! I also didn’t understand what was meant by this.

    • @jeanneann1374

      Rachel Campbell yes take the bend toward the cab end.. sooo much easier to load and unload
