We just got a shipment of these gorgeous shrubs! Thanks for the informative info on how to grow them...and we'll see you at the Family Tree Garden Center on October 5th, 2019!
So when you say in zone 7 it needs to be planted tucked away what do you mean? How does one prevent frost with it and deal with it in the winter months? I’m in beautiful Western NC.
Hi - I enjoy your informative videos. Thank you for taking time here. I have a customer interested in transplanting a well established fatsia - it has been trimmed throughout the years so its at a manageable height. Not sure what season is good to transplant the Fatsia. ? and should I amend the soil when I transplant? I've seen these do very well here in Atlanta GA in partial sun or shade. Amazing plants and so beautiful.
Bought two Fatsias for my cov e red porch. Want to keep them in containers question: about how long will they live in containers? And do I need to cover the roots in winter? I live in Inland Northwest (Idaho) thank you
Thank you, your videos are very helpful. Could you please make one on how to plant the Pieris and the Nandina properly. You refer to mounding them to keep the roots healthy and there isn't a lot of information on how to do that. Also, when you say you have "Videos in the description of this video" ……. sorry, I don't get it. Where is the "description of this video"? I would love to see some of the videos you are referring to.
Under the video is it's title. On the same line as the title, to the right is a tiny Gray arrow head that points down. Touch the arrow and more information will be shown below. Scroll down to see titles of more videos in blue. If you click on or touch a title, that video will come up. I hope this helps!❤
Hiya. I have a quite young fastia SW that I, stupidly, moved to a NE corner last year, so it's getting far too much afternoon sun now. I'm going to move it back to a spot where it will be getting just a few hours of morning sun (Zone 8b France) and was wondering if that will help it get it's white colouring back. It's definitiely a spider's web but the leaves are no longer variegated; just green... What do you think?
what is happening to our spider web plants if the leaves are drooping, but still maintain shape? there is a softness to the stem and root. they are dry, and we are not over watering.
Hello Jim! I'm in France and am desperately looking for advice on my Spider's Web Fatisa....it suffered from lack of water and some leaves have browned...I was hoping to remove them but don't know how to, could you give me any advice? Thanks in advance!!
I have bought one Spider’s Web, it’s beautiful! But now after 3 weeks three lower leafs have dropped, all have these brown “scarrings”. I have it indoors, two meters below/away from a morning/early midday window. Can it possibly have been sunburnt? Should I move it further away?
Hello. I bought a fatsia spiderweb plant a few days ago. It is quite big already. Im keeping it indoors. Sadly the leaves have started falling one by one. I lost 4 leaves today. Leaves are from random places. They are not yellow leaves. Look pretty healthy and green. They seem to just separate from the main stem. Not sure what km doing wrong. Any advice is much appreciated.
Just got one a few weeks ago The leaves are going black around the edges and dropping off.any advice would be appreciated. Its indoors in uk as its winter.
That definitely sounds like it was to wet for some period of time. It will need very bright light indoors in the winter and be allowed to dry out between waterings
Greetings from Ireland, much appreciate the advice!
Did you have any luck with the Fatsia, Jim?
So glad I found your video! I just purchased this plant and am having a little trouble with it. This helps!!
Lovely presentation, very informative. Thank you
Just got one. So excited!

Thanks, I have deer that have destroyed that plant. Would the fatsia be protected enough butted up next to the woods?
Our plant is producing curling leaves
There is trouble with our plant, any suggestions please?

I just purchased this plant and I am facing the same issue. Have you found a solution for this by chance?
I love this plant but I dont know what im doing wrong. I think I have followed all your suggestions but it dosnt look happy.
That's a nice plant I never heard of it until now. Would it grow on Long Island. Yes we have deer to worry about.
+Dan Lewis I would leave it as a container plant. It would be a nice houseplant in the winter

I would definitely put it outside when you can. It may be a low humidity issue. It is very dry inside in the winter.

@@JimPutnam thankyou for your advice
Do you know how long it takes these to flower for the first time after being grown from seed?
+Arianna A I usually don't get flowers on fatsia until they are in three gallon containers. Probably two years.
Are there any varieties of fatsia that would be hardy in zone 7. I have an area where I would like one but it is not next to the house.
Mariann Reid no unfortunately not in open space. Probably need to use something like Aucuba japonica.
👌💕
can it be eaten as a vegetable?
I don’t think so
Soak roots in kerosene prior to placing on vigorous fire 🔥. Enjoy
