I can't do MOH's surgery any more. I have had 2 on my nose which is now disfigured and I need reconstruction so I can breathe properly. I had it done on top of my head that's left a scar from the front all the way to the back. The last time I had MOH's was on my inner arm and it was for basal cell. It took 6 weeks to heal and now I have a huge keloid scar. He couldn't close the area because the skin was too thin. Dr.'s are pushing MOH's because of course surgery brings in good $. But a prescription of Imiquimod takes care of my basal cell just fine and those spots have never come back. I've used it for squamous cell as well. I believe in the path of least resistance. Try something less agonizing first and if it doesn't work, then surgery is okay. And if you do have MOH's, go directly to a Plastic Surgeon so he can remove and reconstruct at the same time.

My daughter in law had a dermatologist in Spokane that was trained in plastic surgery as well, her surgeon was diligent in the way she removed the cancer on her nose, in the end, it looked like she had about 100 tiny, tiny sutures. Her surgery was done in March.
At the end of April they were moving back to Texas, she and grandson arrived first, coming to my house on May 3, I could not see
where she had surgery! Last September I had the fourth surgery on my face! I was not at all happy having to have MOHS surgery as
I really wanted to try chemo cream on it, but dr said since it was squamous cell and was deep I needed MOHS. Well he was untruthful, the MOHS surgeon didn’t go deeper, she went wider, and I had to schedule surgery for my second biopsy done at the same time as the last one, and this was on my finger, in the end she removed an area about the size of a upper case o. I’ve battled skin cancer for 47 years, and at 81, I am done with surgeries, they can recommend radiation or some sort of chemo cream, but I am truly done. I’ve lost count of the total of surgeries I’ve had, and in addition to those, I’ve had hundreds of pre cancerous spots frozen off, and those hurt pretty badly.

It really depends..I had poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma on my vulvar in 2017... They said they couldn't determine if it was still vin3 or stage one at the time...Had it surgically removed and in July 2023 its in my groin lymph nodes...its a very complicated surgery and no one felt comfortable doing it until they found a surgon who thinks he can. I don't feel comfortable with it. I won't go on...I just wanted to share my experience. I feel doomed. It's February 2024 and in my opinion..it's probably already started growing some where else ..but not seen yet.. Nit trying to be negative. Just realistic. 😶

I had my first diagnosis in 2016 at that time they said melanoma in situ, I had surgery, they removed al my labia, vulvar and part of my urethra. 2017 it came back on the urethra, another surgery. 2023 again surgery, they took more urethra and a good portion around that, that came back as Squamish cell. Prior to this last one, I had a brochoscopy, then 3 weeks later had a thoracoromy they took 9 or so biopsies, the one in my lung was Squamish cell. Then 2 months later a grape size tumor 2as removed off the back of my left knee, 2024 had another "spot" biopsies and then removed from my left arm, at the outer elbow, Squamish cell. Wondering where else it's gonna show up!!!

Can I ask -did you have lichen sclerosis of the vulva first? Many women have LS (intense itching of the vulva is one symptom) and dont know it. If left untreated that can turn into vulgar cancer.

doctors decided to resect the bladder and relace it with a bag outside the body.

I have been having it on my cheekbone for many years. About 12 years ago I told my FD, but she ignored it. In January 2023 I saw a nurse practitioner, but she told me it wasn't cancer and didn't refer me to a dermatologist. Only last May I saw a dermatologist who diagnosed me with BCC, his nurse performed biopsy, 2 weeks later told me it wasn't dangerous, but no treatment or surgery offered me. Yet I wanted to get some treatment and last August saw the same dermatologist again, but nothing was done that day, only offered me a surgery. To me it looked as if he was hesitant about it. So, I wanted to find an alternative treatment.

I have basal cell carcinoma on my upper lip. They wanted to go right to Mohs surgery (99% cure rate). I did not want to screw up my face. The thing I did not like is that the surgeon does not know how much tissue he must remove when he begins to cut. It could be a small amount of tissue or a large amount of tissue depending on what he sees under the microscope. I did some homework and found out that there is an alternative called superficial radio therapy (SRT) (95% effective for basal and squamous cell cancers of the skin). Also, 5 fluorouracil cream is about 75% effective is you do the whole course of therapy, but you want a better cure rate than that. I am not a dermatologist so seek professional help. Just wanted to let you know that there may be other options for you.

I am sure the second cheek surgery was from the same cells of the first surgery as they aren’t even a half inch apart, the other was MOHS surgery on my nose leaving a crater that required a skin graft. That hole was about the size of a nickel. I am not having any more surgeries.

@@mzmiller52 I’m not going to tell you what to do, but after battling skin cancers for 47 years, beginning when I was 33, and now at 81, I have 4 scars on my face, the last one happened in September of ‘23. It was MOHS, and I’d had a MOHS surgery on my nose years ago,
I have decided to not ever have surgery for any more skin cancers. If they won’t prescribe a chemo cream for the treatment, then I’ll go without. I have used chemo cream successfully on several spots, but I also had a very bad allergic reaction to it, which was 100% my own fault. I think you have to do what you are comfortable doing. Best of luck to you.

@@floydfarano3385 I used that Fluorouracil cream on a huge place on my arm, it was about the size of a golf ball, started out very small, no larger than a lower case m, and it did the job 100%, I have to really hunt for the tiny scar that was left. The dermatologist who prescribed
that for me was concerned about the scar surgery would leave, then he went ahead and few years later and did two surgeries on my face
very near each other with no concern about the scars. I think the second surgery on my face was actually a part of the first cancer, which
more than likely would have been caught during a MOHS surgery.
Boy I am not sure what I’d do if I were you. That cream can get pretty nasty looking with oozing and crusting and it may go on for two to three weeks, and the skin on your penis is probably much more delicate than the skin on an arm or face, I can’t remember if the treatment
on my arm burned or itched, so I think if I were you I’d be letting Google become my best friend, and find out the experiences others have
had. Best of luck to you.
