Hello Anthony Wolfe! There are unique special parts on the boom mounted. O&K has developed this and called it "Tri Power"... NOT Terex, NOT Bucyrus, NOT CAT... It's an CAT - colored O&K... Not more and not less... Greatings from the other side of the ocean!
Wow all that work, I wonder why they had too use a shake can to spray some parts , must have had a mess up in shipping . But the video was awesome , all that heavy parts come together as 1 big machine ! Thanks for vid :)
The achievements of man far outweigh his foibles. Looking at the complexity of the logistics and manufacturing capabilities of modern man is a wonder to behold...I have lived a bit over a half century and wonders never cease! Thanks youtube for years of exposure to some of the most profound events and achievements in human history...We are indeed blessed to be alive in such a time! A note; A three bucket tooth wide, composite plastic, wedge shaped, bolt on attachment would be a smart idea for when the smaller backhoes are pushing in the joining pins of the machine...Just sayin....
Watching the machine being put together is cool and how big it is is awesome but I wish you would have put some specs in the video on some of the pictures. Like how much horsepower it has and the engine size and how much it can pick up and how much it weighs altogether. And or how much the pieces weighs as it was being put together.. the video COULD have been a lot better. And the music is awe full
If you like traveling, that would be a great job. I couldn't figure out what operated the clamshell, but I went back and looked closer, and at 10:12 you can see hoses disappearing into the bucket, I guess the pistons are hidden.
I'm sitting here watching this and seeing all the rams and hydraulic lines and thinking that hydraulic reservoir has to freaking be massive. I run a small grapple crane on a truck and our reservoir is just shy of 40 gallons. This sucker has to be over a thousand for sure.
+lytken This type of excavator is used to load large dump trucks with ore-bearing rock or overburden. They work a fairly short wall and as long as they can reach high enough to load the trucks it's more important to increase capacity and speed than reach. Depending on the type of mine other equipment may be utilized to remove thicker overburden, such as draglines or bucket wheel excavators. Larger shovels with a long reach designed to remove overburden were called stripping shovels, but they've largely been replaced by draglines and bucket wheels. Search for the silver spade, it was the last giant stripping shovel in operation in the US and there are quite a few good videos of that monster in operation.
Well no, this type of excavator isn't even an excavator. It's a hydraulic shovel and not a very large one at that. Excavators dig towards themselves, shovels away.
Volume button solves the music problem. But nothing can solve bad video editing. Cutting to another scene angle every two seconds, Is a sure sign of a hopped up teenager who doesn't know what they're doing. Lucky to make it to 3:50 before giving up.
cat bought over bucyrus who bought it from terex it was one of the stupidest deals terex ever done it was a good excavator cat eventually got it because they can't build a decent digger
Never thought I'd be so happy for *_volume control_*

C Smith Correct! There are two cylinders inside the back part of the bucket that is connected to the stick.
Thanks
It would be cool to see the inside or a drawing.

Why is it that the digging arms are so small/short on this kind excavators compared to other types

thanks a lot for all your good info :D

Nice machine content, but the editing and jump cuts constantly in the video ruined it. Focus and stay away from the caffeinated drinks. HA.
You are latim

Problem with the music is the bag pipes blowing away at odd times

They should have just left it fully assembled at the factory and brought it in by helo. I want to see that helo more than anything! lol
To me these mining excavators always seem to have a small bucket for the size of machine.
How much does a full bucket weigh on average?
i don't know the wight but the size is 52 m³ and if you think that's is small i don't know what to tell you man
Full bucket on a 6040 is approx 40 tonnes, bucket capacity is 22 cubic metres. Overall machine weight is 404 metric tonnes
Which country...how many day this fitting time...
nice
Any one think front bucket silinder could b some tucked up beter but then again easy mantainence
