That’s an interesting point, they definitely weren’t as intrigued by the circular needles! I hadn’t put it together but the ends moving is probably a huge factor. I guess it’s good I’m learning how to use circular needles 😂
@@PlantBasedBride, fun fact: you can knit flat panels as well as tubes with circular needles. (It's a total myth that circular needles are only for tubes... like socks.) 💖🌞😷🌵
I have my sock yarn scraps in two glass vases. We had to put them on a shelf with command strip stickers because one of my cats would tip the vase over and make off with a bunch of them all the time 💀 I especially enjoy when they unravel them all around the legs of our dining room table and chairs. 😭
Yay, I love that you're diving back into knitting! I'm an avid knitter, so I always include knitting pages in my monthly bujo setups, to track current projects and commissions, things I want to cast on, and a knitwear tracker (to see which hand-made sweaters/tops/socks are most worn each month). My best tip for knitting with cats is having a distraction (a toy, a treat, etc); my cat loves a certain blanket, and as long as she can sleep on my lap with the blanket, she usually leaves the yarn alone.
I love that! I’ve built a basic Notion database to keep all the details of my knitting projects ❤️ and that’s a great idea! I can turn on their little battery operated feather toy and hope they go for it 😂
I learned to knit probably when I was around 8-9, but I didn’t really enjoy it because it was too easy to mess up lol. But last year I learned how to crochet, which I find much easier than knitting! So far I’ve made a few stuffed animals and some purses, but right now I’m working on a cardigan 😊
I made a lid for my basket out of some pretty fabric, wadding or batting for padding, some ribbon for ties, and a piece of cardboard for a solid bottom. I used a hot glue gun to make it a no sew project. I used an elastic hair tie and a button for a closure... surprisingly, it turned out very professional. If you have a nice basket, just make a lid for it! 💖🌞😷🌵
Oo I love this! You’re right, I can totally craft a cute lid if I find the perfect basket. I might need to make time for a trip to our local antique store and to if they have any!
I like you did a bit of knitting as a child but I’m allergic to lanolin but didn’t realize till many years later so when I tryed to upgrade my materials to really get in to it my hand would burn so I never really got anywhere then school ramped up. I have however started crocheting recently and honestly i prefer it cos there only 1 ‘working’ loop so it much easier not to worry about it unraveling if you put it down
I really like your little knitting basket you drew. It's super cute along with the other parts as well the basket is just my favorite.😊 I want to get into knitting specifically so I can knit a sweater for my mom. It's on my hobby wish list.
Antique baskets can be beautiful, but some times the inside isn't the best. Once you get it home you can use mild dish soap, cool water and a soft brush to get some surface grime off. Choose a sunny day for it's bath, because sitting it in the sun to dry insures it will dry well and the sun's UV will sanitize. Fixing a hole is easy if you can find similar reeds. But if after a good scrub, the inside is still not perfect or there maybe bits of reed ends poking out... when you go to purchase fabric for the lid, get a little extra to line the basket. It will be soooo pretty opening the basket to see the matching lining. And the lining will prevent those pokey ends from snagging your yarn balls as they spin around inside your basket. And the lining will cover any unsightly stains. 💖🌞🌵😷
I love knitting so much. I learned when I was about 12, and have been knitting on and off since then. Right now I'm knitting quite a bit, I'm actually working on a baby blanket for my cousin who just had a baby.
Oh amazing! I’ll have to share a picture of the baby blanket when I’m finished knitting it. Do you have any suggestions for other simpler projects for babies/new parents that I could tackle next? I’m so excited about it 🥰
@@PlantBasedBride Oh yes! Do share some pictures 😊 As for projects the Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman is a classic, and isn’t too challenging to make.
I definitely need to learn to knit socks! My feet are always cold. The only thing is I’ll have to figure out how to add little grippy sticky things to the bottom, because I am notoriously clumsy on stairs and I’m only allowed to wear socks with grips so I don’t fall lol
I love your illustrations! Have you considered doing medieval style mythical flora/fauna? I feel like it would blend well with your most commonly used color pallets 😊
OK, that sounds absolutely adorable! I would love to see what you did with it 🥰 I almost added a drawing of a cat peeking out from behind the balls of yarn but changed my mind at the last minute. I feel like a cats playing with yarn theme is in my future at some point lol 🧶
I can't believe I had never thought of using the circle stencils to draw round corners before, such a simple thing but my mind's been blown 😂 Your themes are always so pretty and inspiring!! 💕💕
I happen to be knitting slouchy hats for a giveaway I am going to do at an event i am going to at the end of May. I had to pause you to count the cast on. Lol! Once you find the sweet flow you can knit and listen to audio books or reading.
Cute theme as usual. Watching the video felt very familiar 😂 like you I learned to knit as a child, then let it go and picked it up again when my friends starting having babies a couple years ago. And like you, I called my mom way too many times. No idea how to help with the cats but I would advise to have a couple projects on the go, with one being easy, especially if you are attempting something big like a sweater. I found that it can get very frustrating when projects take a long time so having something else finished in the mean time helps. Good luck with the knitting!
That’s a great tip, honestly! I lose motivation easily if it takes too long to finish something so I’ll definitely need to have a few things on the go at once 😂❤️
My sister is expecting her second child in the fall, and I'm also planning to knit a baby blanket! I got into knitting a couple years ago, but it's an interest that comes and goes, so I haven't been pressed about moving beyond the basics. But now I'm excited to try some fun patterns!! Also, no idea what was going on in my brain, but when I looked at the thumbnail really quick while scrolling, my first thought seeing the person was: cottagecore Buddy the Elf🤦
Hahaha omg that’s hilarious 😂 I can honestly see it lol Oo congrats on the upcoming neige or nephew! I have so many ambitious project ideas, but I’m trying to rein it in haha
My knitting skills are minuscule, but my sister is amazing! She has made my baby daughter some impressive sweaters. She loves knitting so much she bought sheep and taught herself to process the wool into yarn she can use!
Beautiful theme! I've been thinking of incorporating a knitting journal aspect into my bujo next year to track my projects. I use Ravelry but am notoriously bad about updating it D:
Loving this layout. My tip is for any knitter/crocheter….take your smart watch off. The way I knit it thinks I’m walking miles and miles, or maybe you need to finish your steps. 😊
@@PlantBasedBrideI started with knitting, like you as a child. I picked up crochet as an adult and love it. Oh, it made me tear up hearing you mention that high school (and I guess teenage life in general) made you - and me - stop so many of our creative doings. But it's nice to begin starting them again as well. Its also so nice to see that I share more than one hobby with my favorite creators; besides BuJo'ing it's also the Sims and now knitting 🥰✨ Also - do you have tips or any other resources to check put, on nice yarn that aren't wool or in other ways made from animals? I would like the warm and cozy ones, other than the cottion I already know of. And the chemical oves i guess. But the one ypu are using last in the video looks and sounds great tho - can you link to that maybe? 🙏🏽 The best, Gunilla
Aw I’m glad we’re both finding our way back to our childhood hobbies ❤️ the yarn I’m using for the sweater in this video is a recycled acrylic from Loops & Threads! They’re carried at my local Michael’s and very affordable. I’ve done a bit of research, since I also don’t buy/use wool and other animal products, and most common seems to be cotton, acrylic, and more niche natural fibres like bamboo (which is pricier). My mom recommended acrylic because it’s easier to care for in a finished garment than some natural fibres that can be more finicky in the wash, so finding recycled acrylic yarn was awesome!
@@PlantBasedBride nice to know that iteven is easier to care for! But damn, we don't have Michael's in Denmark.. And I can't even find it on the internon which I am boycotting as well as I am boycitting avimal products! Any other tips by any chance? I will keep looking by my self as well tho, ofc! Thanks for your answer, and your videos in general!
It feels like it! Especially because all the projects are so little 😂 I think I’ll just have to knit around the cats enough that they start to lose interest lol

I just started journaling and I am by no means an artist. Not even close-lol. When I use markers my drawings look so bad. I have never used markers to color in my drawings and as hard as I try not to I keep going out of the lines and its so hard to keep the pressure even so then there are a lot of streaks. Just what I wanted-streaks and going out of the lines. I feel like I am in Kindergarten again. Did you or has anyone reading this have this problem? Its making me feel kind of bad. I have been using colored pencils which looks way better. I have way more control with the pencils than the markers.
I definitely coloured outside of the lines in several areas and had lots of streaks in the art I did for this video! I think that’s really common/normal ❤️ I hope you’re not being too hard on yourself!
Oo haha this is amazing! I can give them some of the atrociously ugly yarn I bought as a preteen for one of my last projects and now wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole lol I’m sure they’ll have a blast with it 😂
