My memories of listening to this legend's live concerts in temples at Pollachi and Coimbatore are rekindled by this recording. I was in primary and middle school then. Thanks for sharing it through TH-cam 🙏
Great conglomeration of three contemporary legends Madurai Mani Iyer, Lalgudi Jayaram, and Palakkadu Mani. A treat to ears. Mist scintillating and thought-provoking concert. Mani Iyer's expansive and exhaustive sangathis combined with articulative Niraval further enriched with super fast swaram yet landing in perfect sruthi and layam took us to an aesthetic world. Listening to Madurai Mani Iyer Kacheri is Indeed a divine experience that is beyond expression. ❤

Exceptional were the rende4ring of Kritis by him that even one not having any knowledge of karnatak music would gather in large numbers and enjoy his way of handling most difficult kritis to the liking of all kinds of Audiences. His katchery during Vasantha Utsavam at Mylai Kapaleeswarar Temple would attract large audience.
This is a remarkable concert. What fantastic examples of violin accompaniment when Shri MMI is singing in the Thaara Sthayi. Shri Mani Iyer and MDR are perhaps two of the most difficult singers to accompany. In particular MMI. So much melody and precise Shruthi alignment. Also the pauses of MMI are something special. Much melody in those pauses! Shri Lalgudi in this concert has done wonders. What magnificent music making this is. Many thanks sir for this post. Just listen to the swaram sequence in Mohanam. Good gosh! Hari
Yes sir. Lalgudi Sir Palghat Mani Iyer and the khanjira Mahavidwan have enhanced the concert quality. In fact at some places, Lalgudi Sir has taken from the idea's of Mani Iyervaal and developed on it and got applauses at instances where Mani Iyervaal did not get applauses and enhanced Mani Iyervaal's music. And the beauty is Mani Iyervaal enjoyed this fact that Lalgudi Sir was able to reproduce anything and sang with even much comfort and happiness on seeing Lalgudi Sir grow. Such is the pakkavadyam of Lalgudi Sir that he enhances and gives a better version of what the artist is trying to reproduce.

Even now there is a nagging feeling of whether we missed last 10/15 minutes after S/Bhairavi. Some one only should confirm. Can any one Pl list the ragas in the Swaramalika of RTP ..? Sama, ....., Begada and S/Bhairavi. Or Pl correct me. Thanks once again.
It's interesting that Sri Lalgudi earned most of the applauses -- it's weird. Maybe he was encouraged by the audience and Sri MMI for bering such a virtuoso at this young age.
