You are such a lovely couple and Sarah your joy is heart warming. I think you will struggle at slaughter time... I have been through it once with lambs and never wanted to keep sheep again... am far to soft hearted. Beautiful vlog xx
Hi Ros. Thanks for the nice comment. We will see regarding slautering/eating. Luke will be doing it and If we cant do it we will probably never eat goat again.
Your honesty about everything is so refreshing, I am spontaneous and so often I’m asking questions retrospectively ... I admit to it with the confidence no one can point a their finger at me , because three fingers are pointing back at them ... but more specifically to you I think this is why your channel (family) will thrive and grow ... 🙏☘️😘
That's great to know that you have advisers. I don't know how I would have coped with out the help from my Goat friends. I love your videos. I watch them while I'm making coffee. It's good to see what other landies are doing. All the best.
She is a nice looking Saanen, very good milkers like our two, she needs to be out grazing as much as possible to give you more milk, should be a couple of litres a day. Nice to finally meet you both in person and that Billy is getting on well.... have fun guys 😍
Same here.. you really have a beautiful place and we both enjoyed meeting you in person..oh and thanks again for the rennet! The guy told us she was a hornless murciana. Billy is good even though he did cry a bit and is getting head butted by hachamama but as you said I guess that's what goats do. Lol.
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife I would happily be corrected but all Murciana's i know of are black or brown and only the bucks get horns on that breed... her head, throat dangles and her over all shape looks Saanen to us..... a very good breed so which ever it is she looks very nice. Molly said your more than welcome and i didnt realise you left us some plants, thanxs! He will be fine, part of it will be her keeping Billy away from her milk and part sorting out the pecking order. Sure he will be fine!

Luke, guess what! I went to a hardware store (house & hobby) today and the salesman who attended me happened to be from Malta too (for some reason I asked his nationality). I told him he was one of the only 3 people that I "know" from Malta. When I mentioned you guys he said he knows you, Luke, and said you were a chef, so he really knows you 🙂. Mind you, I live in Zurich, Switzerland. The guy's name is Shane, around your age. Isn't that a great coincidence?! He said he would write you some day. By the way, your farm happens to be really close to the place where all my ancestors come from, also in the "Distrito" of Castelo Branco. I go there on vacation every year. We might just bump into each other some day, you never know. Cheers! Keep it up! You guys are great at what you do!
Hahaha wow..small world lol. Yes I know a shane who is half maltese half swiss! He s a great guy. Crazy aye! I wouldn't be surprised if we did bump into eachother.😁😁
Thanks John! And thanks for the nice gesture! We really appreciate it. Yes we paid 100 for the 3. Hachamama is about 3 yrs old. This was her second litter. Then suzie is about 7 weeks and sweetie pie about 10 days now. When we went back to leave sweetie pie with him for a month and got meatball we paid €20 for him. He said they are murciana breed.
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife Ok, 100€ each makes more sense. I´m going to get sheep as I´ve always thought goats are a bit too psychotic for me and I´m not going to eat them, just make cheese from the milk and maybe do something with the fleece.
Great vlog guys, the goats are so cute. Was a shame the brown one was so young, but will be back in a 5 weeks. There will be goats everywhere. How is Luke going to cope with the early morning starts everyday?? 🤔😂 Thanks for the mention 🍾🥂🎂
Thanks so much , yes super cute I miss sweetie pie but happy we don't have the tiny one as we were stressing way too much, and Thank you so much again for my pressie it was so nice of you guysx x x
Luke that was funny talking like a Goat 🐐 look like Molly is a little jealous. Luke you might have to make a milking bench. Make some goat toys for the yard .And in the end is all worth it Sarah try to make some treats for the goats peanut butter treats one cup of peanut butter 1 cup of sugar one egg mix it up bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 3:50 . And keep an eye on Luke not to eat them all🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Lol. Yep I'm in the process of building a stanchion. Only just found out what it's called lol. Also have to build feeders for hay and other bits and pieces. Then I'm hoping to buy an solar electric portable fence so they can start cleaning our land. (If I find one in our budget) Thanks for the treat recipe we will give it a go. And dont worry about me eating them lol I hate peanut butter.
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife I’ll let you go I know you’re extra busy now Talk to you later on Sunday goat whisperer’s sending Molly some love hugs and kisses 😘 😘 😘
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife Hi Luke was thinking about what you said about building a feeder for the hay you can use two pallets to make a V shape feeder On the pallets take out every other plank. For access to feed and the plank you take off put those on the ends and make two legs for each end. About the electric fence Can you use the Water mine to Make Power by use a water wheel in a Car Alternator to produce power and lighting if it’s possible all you need A bicycle wheel to make a water wheel and A belt to Connect to the alternator the plug the wires into the long stitching cord to Connect Power to the fence. And it’s free electricity 👍👍👍👍
Will you be making a milking stand? One your nanny is accustom to it, it will make milking much easier. Be careful to separate the billy kid from his mum before his is old enough to mate with his mum. Sorry if I seem to be giving to much advice. I just can relate to the massive learning curve that you must be going through. I feel like giving you my Watts app details so you can get advice in a pinch. It's very exciting. Blessings
Yes Luke is working on that milking stand..as for the advice Glen ,keep that coming because we're learning so much from you , we also have the family who have given us Billy, they are very experienced and answer any questions we have in a flash 😃

Ho dear I feel for you. Your in at the deep end with that little kid goat. That farmer was very irresponsible to give you that kid. I could tell that it was it wasnt right as soon as I saw it. If you have to bottle feed it. Then it may get diarra. I really wish you the best with it. When I started with goats I had a really good mentor. As new things come up all of the time. Blessings
Hi Claire the males will be a problem when they get older for the herd and we only need one male and Billy is the one we will keep to mate with our girls. We have never had an experience like this so we say that we will do that because a lot of people who have goats do this . We will see when the time comes obviously .
