Do not buy Lenovo Legion 5. Facing sudden restart issues on my 1 month old laptop since day 1.

  • Edit - sent the laptop to repair center and those folks performed Windows Restore and loaded factory OS despite telling them it’s not the Windows’ fault. Still facing the same issue. Probably the last time I have bought anything from Lenovo.

    I hate this kind of "don't buy this" videos, especially the short one without any further/detail explanation. What happens with yours doesn't mean it happens with other's too. It could be just manufacturing defect. That's why Lenovo offers 3 years warranty. Just return it or claim your warranty so you could get a replacement. You even could try factory reset your Legion by resetting windows, this worked for me when I was facing sudden restarts in my L7i and never face this problem anymore since then.

    • @thehuman5607
      @thehuman5607  ปีที่แล้ว +225

      Yeah I understand your point and it is reasonable. My frustration comes out from the fact that Lenovo denied replacement citing weird reasons. I sent the same for repair too but they just performed factory reset, reinstalled OS and sent it back to me and that did not solve the issue. I have tried installing Ubuntu, Windows 10 and everything (I am tech savvy and know a lot about computers). Finally I sent them this laptop and they changed the entire mainboard. This whole thing took 2 months but now this thing is a beast. Thanks for comments. Appreciate it. Have a good day!

    DO NOT take this into into consideration when deciding on a laptop. This does not seem to be a reoccurring issue. Production faults happen from time to time in every factory. The warranty should cover any such manufacturing faults. They may repair your laptop, or give you a new laptop.
    Edit: This may also be an issue with windows 11, as I know that it has some bugs.

    • @thehuman5607
      @thehuman5607  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      True. Don’t take this into consideration. Some defective products do slip the quality checks. However note that Lenovo had denied replacement giving absurd reasons. Take this into consideration. However, the repair process has been pretty smooth but the repair center had failed to find fault in the very first try. Had to send it twice and the next time they did change the entire mainboard!

    This started happening to me too, I own mine since 2020 and it worked flawlessly until like one month ago. Currently I am trying to find out where is the problem, overheating is definitely not an issue. Normally this happens only on idle CPU or very low load, laptop either freezes or restarts. This might relate to battery but it is hard to troubleshoot since logs show nothing. Don't add an additional drive to the legion 5, be it SSD or Nvme if you don't know how to properly install/troubleshoot or unwilling to replace the drive. you also get a one-year factory warranty from I.B... I mean Lenovo on the laptop. Had this been a problem from day one, you could have returned it to the place of purchase within the return period for refund or sent it to Lenovo to be repaired or replaced under warranty. you could have just retuned the HD also when you've seen this happening and tried to reinstall it... (at least I would have) take the second hard drive out, try to reseat it or replace it. There may just only be a problem with the second hard drive.

In 2 months, I played games such as cold war, battlefield 1, bfv without any problems. Whenever I left my computer on until morning to install Battlefield 2042, when I woke up, "Auto Repair" was written on my screen. My computer was unformatable via USB stick, freezing and not loading. I was encountering a blue screen error that was not resetting in the reset section in Windows 11. I used to have this problem with my 1650 legion. I figured it out that the vantage software + turning on and off mux switch( hybrid mode) frequently caused it. I turned off the hybrid mode and never opened vantage again since I don't really go out with it and doesn't use it on battery so battery drain is not an issue.
