People always like to look back at old SF shows and talk about how in some ways they accurately represented "the future" - well here we see Logan getting a text on his mobile about the next runner.

The thing that bugged me about this series was that the sandman, Francis, seemed to have a steady stream of support - sandmen, vehicles, more sandmen etc. All presumably happy to return to the city at some point knowing that their family and loved ones, have had and will continue to have, their lives pointlessly cut short at 30.

There was a sci fi show (Twilight Zone?) where a woman who did past life regression therapy wakes up in a world where everyone knows their past lives. She never could discover any of her past lives, and the authorities apprehended her and ask her to save society by using hypnotherapy to make patients forget their past lives. Knowing that reincarnation was real produced a society where people had the right to commit suicide, and people did it for the slightest dissatisfaction with their current lives.

Thanks for your tribute to the "another Donald Moffat" ! About some cut scenes, there is a very sad lost from the 1951's version of THE THING: the first non humanoid movie alien, made faithfully from the great John Campbell's novella; but the production felt the props was too terrific and all was destroyed according the historian Bob Burns. But I cannot think than anybody would have kept any shot of it,and hope one picture could be found one day in a cellar...

I love this movie. I love 70's Sci-Fi & practically all things "70's'" (& early 80's), especially vintage electronics. In the 60's/70's a "computer/screen" was so "hi-tech" & futuristic. PCs are common today, so the movie looks dated, as will practically any Sci-Fi movie when viewed 25+ years after it's release. But anyway, I really love the look/feel of Logan's Run. I love the cinematography, the sets, the colors, wardrobe, sound, etc. It's an all time classic. A remake could be cool....

As a teenager, this sci-fi series, as with a few others, at that time: Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, were part of a 'staple tv diet'. The music was, big and loud, as were a few more programmes screened during the late 70's/early 80's. Definitely a blast from the past.

I own this on DVD and the show really isn't that bad. Typical 70's sci-fi fare, but the actors looked like they had fun. Donald Moffat was the break out actor here and he added a lot to the show. He was definitely the "Data" of this series and played his part extremely well. It's the usual chase plots you'd expect, but both Harrison and Menzes were very attractive and had lots of chemistry. The ratings were pretty solid, but the show was preempted so much that it ended up being cancelled too soon. Darn shame, as I would have enjoyed a couple of seasons out of this show.

This was my favorite show when I was a kid in elementary school. I always liked the shows that got cancelled after one season or less. This show had a lot of problems, but it really doomed itself when it had Logan find sanctuary well before the end of the first season, and then he and his posse just casually move on because they are dissatisfied with what they find there. The search for Sanctuary was the series's raison-de-etre!

70's and early 80's shows had a cheesy sort of charm to them, that no show will ever be able to recreate. This show was some years before my time, but it looks like it would've been one that I would've enjoyed. - Had my parents let me stay up past Dukes of Hazard or Knight Rider. :-/

I purposely got sacked from boyscouts several consecutive sundays in the late 70ties, early 80ties to watch this in the afternoon in the French dubbed version on Antenne 2, French TV. It was called 'L'age de crystal' (the age of crystal).
It took a couple of years - until I saw the movie, before I got to understand what the title meant.
I always liked it more than the film. I thought it was a good American adventure series, which, due to bad timing, got cancelled too quickly

and also, Heather is 2 years older than Gregory Harrison and Randy Powell
Harrison had also starred in the Final Season of Falcon Crest and Powell appeared on episodes of Dallas including Who Shot JR?
Gregory and Randy will be 59 this year and Heather will be 61 this year as well and she is also younger than Farrah Fawcett who starred in the Logan's Run Movie.
