it always makes my day when you post something new, this one in particular. Such outstanding scenery fitting for 2 long time 'buds" to play beautiful music. video quality is superb. Mahalo nui
You and Led never fail to give a delightful performance with some beautiful scenes to go along with it. Makes my day seeing an upload from you two! Hope you both are doing well :)
Breathtaking indeed. I think no other place calls to me as strongly. Even driving around and seeing the mountains through the power lines they are amazing, seeing them like this is beyond. Fran
Mahalo nui Fran, and Led and Lynn for this great video in front of The Ko’olau. It was definitely alive and well as the clouds fell over the top of the mountains, and your music continued that nahenahe feeling … well done and played!!!
Hi Fran - delighted to see another video you have posted. This is such a beautiful piece and I love listening to you and Led. The photography just perfect. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work 👍
Thank you, Brian, I hope I can squeeze in another clip or two before we head for home. I think I'll be making Lynnie a permanent part of the video team. Fran
@@franguidry that would be great Fran. I hope you can and look forward to viewing any you post. Lynn’s work really compliments the music and is an excellent addition. Best of luck to you all 👍
Thank you, Rudy, we're always trying to find ways to make our clips better and I think giving the Ko`olau Mountains a starring role is a good way to do that (grin). Fran
Thank you, Phil. I've been looking for a long time for a place to film the mountains without power lines in the way. Had to go to a cemetery to find it. Fran
You fellows are the very best. You play for the music, for yourselves, for each other. The purity of what you do moves me to the edge of tears. I have your CDs. Would you please make another Kaleponi & Kalapana CD? You have recorded on CD only 12 of 50 entries; surely with the new CDs you have a wide selection from which to choose. PLEASE!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent and the magnificent beauty of Ko olau Mountains. So enjoy your music, I think you need to hire Lynn to do all of the cinema.
What beautiful place to play this medely. Mahalo Fran and Led. Big fan here, but won't be back to Hawaii till the Pandemic is really over. Very homesick to see the Ko'olau's.
Yes, Sandra, it takes a bit of nerve and several vaccinations to get into that big flying test tube. We stayed masked up the whole trip and will do the same thing going home. Fran
I'm definitely in the cherishing business (grin). I can hardly believe my life led me to this kind of musical adventure, but I am deeply grateful. Fran
I've been listening to the Slack Key Masters sets for several years, but recently began listening to your duets with Led. Truly the soundtrack to heaven, especially with the scenery. The music is wonderful. Do y'all still play together? THANK YOU for the music.
Thanks for taking a moment to comment. Those slack key masters CDs are a treasure, aren't they? I'm flattered that you mention our stuff in the same sentence. Led and I play together whenever we're in the same area. We've managed to put together two clips this year while we are visiting Hawai`i and I hope to capture another one or two. Then he will visit California next month and we'll try to get some tunes down then. I have a playlist of the stuff we've done together: th-cam.com/play/PLKRxWcC_Lftc7G4ByRpjNm79hjuZ9PrPt.html Fran
I sometimes think the Ko`olau are the reason I love Hawai`i so much, but then I think of all the other wonders of the place, like the people, the music, the food, the beaches, the feel of the air. Still, those mountains are magical. Thanks for your visits and comments, Fran
Thanks Bob, the gig opportunities have really shrunk, it seems, especially those local kine shows where half the people in the audience were going to eventually wind up on stage or dancing hula in front of the musicians. In other words, we miss Honey's!! Fran
Wow!! Awesome!! Love it! Perfect day....did you make the weather good too? Hehehehe Perfect playing, beautiful music, perfect sound and video, perfect lighting.....I bet you did the weather too hehehe
Aloha sister, thanks for your enthusiastic comment. I think Led was in charge of the weather, he was definitely in charge of lighting because he made us get up at the crack of dawn to catch it. Fran
No, banyan trees are pretty rare actually. On the windward side I only know of one. There's a grove of them on the south side in Kapiolani Park, just outside of Waikiki. Fran
@@franguidry Oh, OK. Thanks. I remember my mom talking about the Banyon trees in the Punchbowl. I thought those looked similar to the young Banyons that dad took pictures of back in the late 50's when we lived there and visited the cemetery. (I know you're in a different cemetery here) The Banyons reminded me of umbrellas. I visited Oahu in 2003 and tried to reproduce several of Dad's photos from 58-61. Some places looked nearly the same and others were drastically different.
@@usmcbrat2 Some of the images I found for banyan trees were similar to the ones in the video, but I was under the impression that banyans hand multiple trunks/roots descending from the canopy, like this: img.theweek.in/content/dam/week/news/sci-tech/images/2020/10/13/banyan-tree.jpg Since I have no expertise in horticulture I'm probably wrong in my assumption. Heaven on earth, thanks for making this available to people who will never witness such beautiful music and sights together in person
Ah, thank you for your kindness. I'm fortunate to be able to see and share.

The music and the scenery were both incredibly beautiful - mahalo!
Mark I'm really glad you enjoyed the clip. Thanks for hanging out with us.

That's the sunniest I've ever seen that side of Oahu! Beautiful song. You two sound so good playing together.
Thank you, it's been sunny and warm for several days now, light and variable winds make for great beach time too.

My favorite mountains in the world - mahalo nui loa for this gift!
Those mountains probably have more fans than even Ledward (grin).

Excellent harmony with Mr.Kaapana as always♪
And dear beautiful Koolau majestic scenery we’ve visited several times.

Thanks, I hope we can offer more virtual travel soon.

Wow, such a nahenahe interpretation of Nani Ko'olau--beautiful and peaceful. Thanks!
Thank you, Arthur. Led credits his older brother for encouraging him to play slower to play sweeter and it sure worked this time.
