@diana, thank you for watching. I do see this differently to you. I think the mother is moving to help Venus feed in the sitting position. When she changes breast, Effie moves so she can remain sitting up. So when Venus is on the left breast, Effie is on her back, when Venus moves to the right breast, Effie moves to her side. If she stayed on her back Venus would have to either change sides or lay on her tummy which wouldn't be comfortable at all. I can see why you think she is rejecting her but I promise this mum is lovely to her baby and is not mean to her baby. I know in the beginning she did come across as indifferent but I don't know why she was like that, but she really isn't any more. They cuddle and Effie is very tactile and loves her baby very much.

@@paulineszymanski8650I rewatched the video and footage on each side of the published footage. It does look like Effie put her arm in front as to stop Venus feeding. She had been having a feed for quite a while anyway. I do stand by my opinion that the reason Effie rolled from her back to side and back and side again was so that Venus could comfortably sit and feed. You never know, perhaps she finds other ways of feeding could be uncomfortable to Effie. Anyway she wasn't rejecting Venus. So after the video cut, Venus layed for a couple of minutes on Effies arm and then got up and walked to her own bag (that they sit on). After a while, Venus walked back to Mum and pulled on her arm. Effie then lifted her head, resting on her elbows, with Venus sitting in front of her but snuggled in. After a while Kiburi comes in and e edyone woke up. They then moved to the gate where the keepers were placing branches on the gate for the gorillas to reach for and snack on until they, the keepers, completed setting up for enrichment.
She clearly stops the baby from sucking. This mother clearly pushes this baby away continuously. There are gorillas just like humans that reject their babies. I just do not understand why people keep taking up,for Effie. She is a terrible gorilla mom. Every video almost she pushes the baby away.
She really is a beautiful little gorilla and so robust and healthy. Hoping her older sister is more gentle with her now. I’m not seeing many videos of this group. Love Effie and love Venus

I have been struggling getting to the zoo recently and the editing of videos as well which is why there is not as many videos coming out than there was. I had to stay until closing time to get my moneys worth as getting to the zoo took me 3 hours!! She pottered around almost the whole time I was there and I think it was worth it in the end.
