I had a chat with this makeup artist years back for knowing about his charges for my wedding which would happen in a couple of months then. Trust me he was soo annoying to chat with n then repeatedly kept asking me when am I going to book him. I said wait , let my date get fixed first. He got so pissed he blocked me lol His attitude was so pathetic. Thank God I didn’t go ahead with him and did my own makeup for my wedding 🫣

The patience you hold throughout is very mature , the way you explained everything about the whole scenario without even disrespecting the makeup artist . On your big day you were left unanswered and at the same time your partner comforting you is your biggest win . I understand how you weren't able to do your makeup yourself though you nail it thousand times more good then him. He charged you a good amount of money and gave you so much tension in return . I can't imagine what happenes to those who are unable to do their makeup and despite of knowing you were not able to do I really really really feel you. This incident of yours truly teaches us to learn from the situation and have a plan B on the D day if plan A doesn't works . I’m a makeup artist I take only one slot for evening because usually I don’t like rushing things with my bride even if I earn less I make sure I do the best and so far I’ve received best compliments touchwood my suggestion to other mua would be that you should not run after money and build a brand instead build a connection with your clients

I thought of booking him for my wedding. I had a talk with him and asked for a demo session just so I can understand if he’s capable of doing what I want… first of all he was charging 15k for the trial makeup which is way too much when I told him that other makeup artists are literally charging one third of the amount he simply told me to book some other makeup artist which I feel is very rude… Now after watching this video I just feel so blessed that I didn’t book him for my wedding day…
I also asked him for trail makeup, he said 15K and I requested him to get it done for 7.5K he refused and said why are you thinking so much, don't worry I will do exactly how you want on the big day.

IM a makeup artist and for 15 k wala package we only charge 2-4k for trial makeup 2k for half face and 4k for full as the products in that package is expensive! Rest of the package 1k ! 🙂 Some artist are just not done!

Exactly this is how he cheats people. I took his makeup classes and over call before joining he told me that his fees would be 20k but on the last day he changed his statement and said his fees is 30k so I would’ve to pay 10k more, such type of cheaters should be strictly boycotted. There are thousands of MUAs out there who aren’t fraud like him so let’s just boycott this guy who cheats everyone lol he could’ve said that he needs money we could donate but just look at the way he cheats and breaks one’s trust and specially someone’s big day.

Hey same here...this Rajiv is very very irresponsible he also ditched me on my bouvat day which was fortunately planned at my home and my reception MUA was Nanda Majumder..but I had my photoshoot for Fulsojja on that day..and Rajiv was supposed to come by 3pm and he ditched and said he will come by 5 and since it's at home I have to manage a bit, I still said ok and then when I started following up him at 5pm he started rejecting calls and then at 5:30 he said sorry I can't come am stuck somewhere else..and I shattered hearing this and had to become a guinea Pig of my in-laws since I was new..it was such a disgusting experience of mine only I know

Just looking at him work shows he’s such a mess. I feel really sorry for what you had to go through. Wedding is something we plan very meticulously and I understand how it feels as a bride when it cannot be executed. As an artist myself we intentionally do not take multiple bookings just to dedicate full time to the bride because it’s HER day. We wait for hours to ensure everything is going fine. But what he has done is outrageous and unprofessional.

It has happened to me. I can feel this video very closely. Your bridesmaid “Himani” I am sorry I don’t know her name correctly. Her sister got married and we shared the same MUA. That MUA she had been 4 hours late to my wedding too. Absolutely ruined my day. I didn’t know how to do my makeup back then and that inspired me to learn makeup post wedding. Today I am working as a bridal makeup artist and I MAKE SURE that I do not get late or be unprofessional/Rude to any of my bride. I will bring out my story once I have enough followers.
I feel so sorry. I'm a professional makeup artist. I'm very new in this profession and Rajiv Bhowmick is one of the makeup artists I've been following. Can't imagine that such a renowned makeup artist can be so unprofessional. Being a make up artist you've to be professional and compassionate. Brides trust us with everything on their most important day. It's a nightmare what you went through. I 1000% agree,, ki always listen to brides or clients ,, as a makeup artist , actually a self taught makeup artist, my 1st priority is what the client want .. always I have in my mind, I have to do the look according the client's preferences. Hat's off to you, how you handled the day! I had similar experience with my photographer team. Such people should be sued for ruining the most important day of our lives by their unprofessional behaviour. We as customers should come up with contract/ agreement to cover such incidents. Otherwise they have made marriage a business, exploiting people. Only legal contract can make them be professional just like we have at other work place. My cousin faced the same ...the MUA was someone else but he is known for doing makeup on celebrities....he called 1 day before marriage and said he won't be able to come and blocked her.I still remember how my sister was crying and sobbing on her aiburobhat ... finally on her aiburobhat night one mua agreed to do her makeup the next day.

Being an mua since 7 years. One rule even a non mua knows is We don't arrive late to a bride. This is understood we reach even before priest because that's how important being ready before time or muhurtham is important. Also, Taking atleast 30 mins to click pics before you go for your wedding is a relaxing time too. Even when brides delay, I say please stick to timings I don't want you to not even get a chance to see your entire look even once. She's a bride she has the right to ho up to mirror closely examine everything, suggest changes in hair makeup and draping and we will listen to her because it is 8 hours or longer she is already in a costume infront of 100 people, nervous, tired, stressed and on top of that she has to adapt to your style or preferences? Truly yruly unprofessional. 5 mins bhi late hota let it brides or my team toh bhi brides and us get in stressed because completing look as per discussed time is professionalism, fitting your creativity as per client or brides taste and preferences is true professionalism. He could have atleast understood and left the money, he's renowned mua he must have paid his artists in advance even if not pay them this time from your pocket keep it as a learning for yourself and everyone. How the actual fuck can you sit down for the payment, how can you record and post even after she repeatedly kept no. Torturing her for the payment, I mean cash will come will the brides day come back again the anxiousness she has to deal with can you change that to a happy time?

I don't know whether you know Madhav Purkait. He came on time but his team was late for some other bride. He received at least 50 calls during my make over. He totally blasted my make over. He burnt my saree . My mum carried a lipstick so I could change my lip color. He didn't even tell me that he burnt it. I came to know when I was undressing. I decided to post my story on quora... posting it here in this comment as well .. I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am with what happened on my engagement day. You know, the make-up artist (Not disclosing the name) and I have known each other for a long time, and I've always recommended her to my friends for their special events. Thanks to me, she gained 5-6 new clients. So naturally, I expected her to be incredibly supportive when it was my turn. She even offered to charge me less, but that is not an excuse for behaving unprofessionally with me as I had not asked for a single rupee concession from her. I didn't bargain or negotiate with her at all as I wanted her to give me the best services happily. I repeatedly asked the make-up artist about the timing for me to arrive at the venue so I could reach on time, and she was always so casual, saying she would let me know and not to worry about it. But even on the day of the event, she didn't inform me. After several follow-ups, at 1:30 PM, she suddenly asked me to be at the venue by 2 PM. I was elsewhere at the time, busy managing my event all on my own without much support. I rushed home, hadn't even had lunch, and we had arranged lunch for everyone at a restaurant. I was prepared to go without eating, but my family insisted I have something first. So I quickly ate at the restaurant and reached the venue by 2:40 PM. When I arrived, the make-up artist immediately started complaining about my lateness. She rushed through my makeup and told me that her assistant would take care of my hair and saree draping. I was already under a lot of stress since it was my engagement day, and I wanted everything to be perfect. But her assistant was barely 20 years old, and that added to my anxiety. She struggled to recreate the hairstyle I had asked for, and when I voiced my concerns, she was incredibly rude. She made comments about how the hairstyle wouldn't look good on me compared to the girl in the picture as the girl in the picture was much prettier than I. It hurt me deeply, and I couldn't hold back my tears. Somehow, I managed to compose myself and got my hairstyle done, but it took a lot of time. This left us with no time for the photographs, which was heartbreaking. The make-up artist's assistant also did the makeup for my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, but they were unhappy with the results. Let me tell you, their make up was charged separately. She didn't even help them properly drape their sarees. The event was delayed, and I couldn't change into my ball gown until the rituals were over. The assistant kept coming to me, asking my permission to leave. My dress was heavy, and I couldn't change without her assistance. I had to plead her multiple times to stay. It was an incredibly stressful situation for me, and it completely ruined my engagement day. I can't emphasize enough how unethical the make-up artist's behavior was, especially coming from someone I trusted and even helped in good faith.

I had a chat with this makeup artist years back for knowing about his charges for my wedding which would happen in a couple of months then. Trust me he was soo annoying to chat with n then repeatedly kept asking me when am I going to book him. I said wait , let my date get fixed first. He got so pissed he blocked me lol His attitude was so pathetic. Thank God I didn’t go ahead with him and did my own makeup for my wedding 🫣
getting gaslighted, cheated and overpaying is the new trend in the industry now due to some unruly and immoral unprofessional who are running the industry just to make money, had similar experience at my native on my sisters wedding paid for both didn't like the outcome was pitched for high-end products but got all basic below grade products not happy with the look at all overpaid but yess due to being very late at the venue we couldn't say or do anything just like you and its a trauma that had scarred the most joyous day of our life!

I’m a makeup artist I take only one slot for evening because usually I don’t like rushing things with my bride even if I earn less I make sure I do the best and so far I’ve received best compliments touchwood my suggestion to other mua would be that you should not run after money and build a brand instead build a connection with your clients

I thought of booking him for my wedding. I had a talk with him and asked for a demo session just so I can understand if he’s capable of doing what I want… first of all he was charging 15k for the trial makeup which is way too much when I told him that other makeup artists are literally charging one third of the amount he simply told me to book some other makeup artist which I feel is very rude… Now after watching this video I just feel so blessed that I didn’t book him for my wedding day…
I also asked him for trail makeup, he said 15K and I requested him to get it done for 7.5K he refused and said why are you thinking so much, don't worry I will do exactly how you want on the big day.

Exactly this is how he cheats people. I took his makeup classes and over call before joining he told me that his fees would be 20k but on the last day he changed his statement and said his fees is 30k so I would’ve to pay 10k more, such type of cheaters should be strictly boycotted. There are thousands of MUAs out there who aren’t fraud like him so let’s just boycott this guy who cheats everyone lol he could’ve said that he needs money we could donate but just look at the way he cheats and breaks one’s trust and specially someone’s big day.

Hey same here...this Rajiv is very very irresponsible he also ditched me on my bouvat day which was fortunately planned at my home and my reception MUA was Nanda Majumder..but I had my photoshoot for Fulsojja on that day..and Rajiv was supposed to come by 3pm and he ditched and said he will come by 5 and since it's at home I have to manage a bit, I still said ok and then when I started following up him at 5pm he started rejecting calls and then at 5:30 he said sorry I can't come am stuck somewhere else..and I shattered hearing this and had to become a guinea Pig of my in-laws since I was new..it was such a disgusting experience of mine only I know

Just looking at him work shows he’s such a mess. I feel really sorry for what you had to go through. Wedding is something we plan very meticulously and I understand how it feels as a bride when it cannot be executed. As an artist myself we intentionally do not take multiple bookings just to dedicate full time to the bride because it’s HER day. We wait for hours to ensure everything is going fine. But what he has done is outrageous and unprofessional.
On a side note, you looked beeaauuuutiful as a bride in the end dear ! I hope what you went through nobody goes through. Kudos for speaking out and preventing such mishaps from happening due to such creeps.
It has happened to me. I can feel this video very closely. Your bridesmaid “Himani” I am sorry I don’t know her name correctly. Her sister got married and we shared the same MUA. That MUA she had been 4 hours late to my wedding too. Absolutely ruined my day. I didn’t know how to do my makeup back then and that inspired me to learn makeup post wedding. Today I am working as a bridal makeup artist and I MAKE SURE that I do not get late or be unprofessional/Rude to any of my bride.

Hat's off to you, how you handled the day! I had similar experience with my photographer team. Such people should be sued for ruining the most important day of our lives by their unprofessional behaviour. We as customers should come up with contract/ agreement to cover such incidents. Otherwise they have made marriage a business, exploiting people. Only legal contract can make them be professional just like we have at other work place. Being an mua since 7 years. One rule even a non mua knows is We don't arrive late to a bride. This is understood we reach even before priest because that's how important being ready before time or muhurtham is important. Also, Taking atleast 30 mins to click pics before you go for your wedding is a relaxing time too. Even when brides delay, I say please stick to timings I don't want you to not even get a chance to see your entire look even once. She's a bride she has the right to ho up to mirror closely examine everything, suggest changes in hair makeup and draping and we will listen to her because it is 8 hours or longer she is already in a costume infront of 100 people, nervous, tired, stressed and on top of that she has to adapt to your style or preferences? Truly yruly unprofessional. 5 mins bhi late hota let it brides or my team toh bhi brides and us get in stressed because completing look as per discussed time is professionalism, fitting your creativity as per client or brides taste and preferences is true professionalism.
He could have atleast understood and left the money, he's renowned mua he must have paid his artists in advance even if not pay them this time from your pocket keep it as a learning for yourself and everyone. I can totally feel her anxiousness, my make up artist booked so many brides that day, we all were at her salon and mind u its a very renowned makeup artist of surat charging me 25k, we were 25 brides that day m not at all exaggerating and thr was so much chaos at that place, i was panicking like hell, they did such basic makeup, didnt do eyz how i asked them to do, it was a horrible experience, till date i hate my wedding pics, its a once in a lifetime thing and they ruined it for me

I don't know whether you know Madhav Purkait. He came on time but his team was late for some other bride. He received at least 50 calls during my make over. He totally blasted my make over. He burnt my saree . My mum carried a lipstick so I could change my lip color. He didn't even tell me that he burnt it. I came to know when I was undressing. Next morning I called him ,he charged me less. But money is not the main factor you know. That tension...that feeling... that's gone

I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am with what happened on my engagement day. You know, the make-up artist (Not disclosing the name) and I have known each other for a long time, and I've always recommended her to my friends for their special events. Thanks to me, she gained 5-6 new clients. So naturally, I expected her to be incredibly supportive when it was my turn.
She even offered to charge me less, but that is not an excuse for behaving unprofessionally with me as I had not asked for a single rupee concession from her. I didn't bargain or negotiate with her at all as I wanted her to give me the best services happily.
I repeatedly asked the make-up artist about the timing for me to arrive at the venue so I could reach on time, and she was always so casual, saying she would let me know and not to worry about it. But even on the day of the event, she didn't inform me. After several follow-ups, at 1:30 PM, she suddenly asked me to be at the venue by 2 PM. I was elsewhere at the time, busy managing my event all on my own without much support. I rushed home, hadn't even had lunch, and we had arranged lunch for everyone at a restaurant. I was prepared to go without eating, but my family insisted I have something first. So I quickly ate at the restaurant and reached the venue by 2:40 PM.
When I arrived, the make-up artist immediately started complaining about my lateness. She rushed through my makeup and told me that her assistant would take care of my hair and saree draping. I was already under a lot of stress since it was my engagement day, and I wanted everything to be perfect. But her assistant was barely 20 years old, and that added to my anxiety. She struggled to recreate the hairstyle I had asked for, and when I voiced my concerns, she was incredibly rude. She made comments about how the hairstyle wouldn't look good on me compared to the girl in the picture as the girl in the picture was much prettier than I. It hurt me deeply, and I couldn't hold back my tears.
Somehow, I managed to compose myself and got my hairstyle done, but it took a lot of time. This left us with no time for the photographs, which was heartbreaking. The make-up artist's assistant also did the makeup for my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, but they were unhappy with the results. Let me tell you, their make up was charged separately. She didn't even help them properly drape their sarees.
The event was delayed, and I couldn't change into my ball gown until the rituals were over. The assistant kept coming to me, asking my permission to leave. My dress was heavy, and I couldn't change without her assistance. I had to plead her multiple times to stay. It was an incredibly stressful situation for me, and it completely ruined my engagement day.
I can't emphasize enough how unethical the make-up artist's behavior was, especially coming from someone I trusted and even helped in good faith.

This is so unprofessional. I am a makeup too. But mene kabhi apni brides k sath esah nahi kiya.. that’s y main ek time peh 2,3 booking nhi leti makeup artist paiso k lalach meh pehle bookings le lete hai or fir khud to faste h and clients ko bhi preshan krte hai.. or fir unprofessionally kam krte h.. or baat bhi krte hai iko hota hai hum apne paise leh or bhage.. professionalism is when you know the value of her special day. Professionalism : punctuality, give a valuable time listen to her, what she wants.
My wedding day was just after one week of yours, 15th December it was. And my MUA was one of the sweetest person I've ever met. But right now, it is so terrible to watch your video. Hats off to you, that you were trying to handle the situation so calmly. It is not about you know about make up, it's all about control your emotions and extreme panic level. My mua supposed to come at 1-1.30. And I had started to call her just after my gaye holud was done which was 12.15, with same query every time "kotodur ele? R kotokhon lagbe amar bari aste according to gmap"? And my goodness, what would someone do like me, who is completely blank about makeup. I'm really felling so terribly tensed when I'm trying to imagine your situation. And about your make up artist, only one thing I want to say..... Karma always pays back.
