I've been playing this all day, and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the work put into this. It's hard to put into words how much I respect this project. I have been astonished at every turn, and picked up some on the little details in which you had to improvise or otherwise do your own thing. The posters, the easter eggs, the picture at the Mayor's place... and the Astral Observatory got me emotional lol. Loved how it felt like an entire galaxy could be seen from the room. I can't imagine how weepy I'll be when I finally get to the Stone Tower Temple.
Thank you so much for everything you've done. Projects this faithful and passionate only come around once in a while. Here's hoping the ninjas don't come after you for this. It'd be a cold-hearted move, but not uncommon for them.

MM and MM3D are still readily available on the eShop, and there'll probably not be a ton of time between when the Wii U and 3DS eShop shuts down, and when Majora's Mask is added to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. Or not. We all know it's Nintendo so it'll probably be years from now. But I'm sure they'll go after this project anyways. @@liamcurran5612 in case you didn’t already know and wanted to play it there exists an amazing mod called project restoration that makes majoras mask 3D better, with things like improved zora swimming. You just need to have a homebrewed 3DS or you can use it with the 3DS emulator citra

If so, it doesn't fit with the story, since saving the princess would trigger a cutscene where the princess saves the monkey. Does this change that cutscene? Is this a troll lmao

@@Nerrel that'd be neat! I do have the icons already inserted into the game (they replace unused items) so all that's left is the proper coding to link those to the Ocarina per form.
I believe those can be dumped if you enable the Ocarina icons (WIP) option in Patcher64+, though I'm not sure if it's called that or if it has changed in recent versions.
wonder why the Wii u emulater sucked I mean when I got Majora's mask the game was a little dark and the controls were hard to get comfortable with but it seemed fine to me

@@Legend64Project Even if you do believe that this is worse, I think it is undeniable that this is a pretty interesting spin on the old textures and there is artistic merit in it. I'm sure some people prefer these over the old ones.
@@KazeN64 I don’t know. This is like an art restoration gone wrong. It didn’t make the original better, it just looks way worse now. HD textures on low poly geometry is a terrible mismatch. If you are going to make it HD, why not take the next logical step and update all the low poly assets as well? As it sits now it just looks inconsistent. It’s fine if people want to play it like this but I can’t stand that they are already declaring this to be the “definitive version” of the game. Do you rewrite Shakespeare and claim it to be better than the original? Nerrel can certainly be commended for his hard work and dedication, but that alone doesn’t make for a good final product.
Thank you so much to all of you for this incredible, amazing and gorgeous work. MM is my favorite Zelda game and now I get to play it in the best way there is. Also, the tutorial is super helpful, I'm sure I would be in trouble trying to install all this by myself. Again: thank you so much.

Honestly, I could not be happier with the changes made since the last video. some of the texture were almost too realistic and were in stark contrast with most of the game. Now everything seems like how I remembered playing it growing up, and the new textures compliment the low poly models to an extent where they almost look high poly. I've been following this project since 2017 and I am in udder awe that you guys managed to pull this off. props to everyone who worked on this and just a huge thankyou on behalf of the majora's mask community.
I think the biggest mark of quality when it comes to your work here is not only how you replaced the original textures with higher fidelity ones, but that you additionally went back to *those* textures and replaced them again to help preserve the intended look and design for them. That's truly a labor of love and and something I really appreciate. Thank you (and thanks to everyone else who helped) for making this incredible project on one of my favorite games.

You've created the best texture pack I have ever seen for any game and have breathed new life into an (almost) 22 year old game. Unlike many in the Zelda preservation community, you said you were going to do something and you followed through. You cannot be praised enough for this.
Furthermore, your attention to detail and artistic styling is better than any other who has attempted Zelda texture modding; You perfectly drew the line between retaining the original artwork's intentions and putting your own influence on things.

Now that it’s done, I would honestly love you to stream or do a playthrough with the texture pack! I would love to see you play and occasionally stop to point out a texture that may have had an interesting anecdote associated with it or that you’re just proud of, I think that would be a super cool and interesting watch!
It shows how passionate you all were when making this project, every single model/texture/shades are all done with perfection. When I'm playing it I literally cannot believe that it's Majora's Mask I'm seeing in front of my eyes. I'm so happy that you all put so much effort into pretty much re-creating a twenty-two year old game, and I know that there are a lot of other people who are grateful as well. Great work, it's only going to get better once the reverse-engineered sourceport inevitably happens and the textures are ported over, allowing for 60FPS and even more lighting improvements, as well as a normal third-person camera.

Finally decided to sit down and get this running and although I haven't started a proper playthrough yet (but I have confirmed that it's working and all of my patches that I wanted to add on are also working), I wanted to thank you for working so hard on this for all of us to enjoy. Wow it is amazing to see the retexture efforts that still continue to this day. I remember a retexture community about 12 years ago that was working on retexturing a ton of games. Ill never forget names like Djipi, and Xenobond. Good ole Emutalk forums. I wonder if they're still even up XD. I spent hours mixing and matching packs until I had my ideal OOTHD texture pack made of my favorite retexture mods. I even ended up doing a presentation on Retexturing in the 8th grade haha.

I encountered the monkey dipping scene on my first playthrough of the game. It was legit shocking to me, I couldn't believe the devs actually made that a scene in the first place. I remember it being the moment where I could really understand why the game was considered creepy by so many people, whether they saw that particular exchange or not.
In the span of time you've worked on this project I started and finished highschool, I fell in love, and left a 4 year relationship. Every new installation video was always so interesting to me. I've loved watching all of these videos and it's a very bittersweet feeling seeing it come to an end. I can't wait to play though the game this way. Thank you Nerrel, and thank you to everyone else who worked on this.

Just wanted to thank you and everyone else involved in making this. Seeing my cousins' play Majora's Mask scared me as a kid, and left me more afraid of the mask than of the Boogeyman or anything. While I'd gotten over it with age, it still unsettled me and kept me from playing the game.
This N64HD Project was my first playthrough of the game. While I had been spoiled on things like the ending and major side quests, it was a mostly blind playthrough that I enjoyed immensely! It's currently in my top two favorite Zelda games, and it's among the few games that I think everyone who considers themselves a gamer, begrudgingly or otherwise, should play. There simply isn't another game like it due to its unique Groundhog Day system and dreadful, anxiety-inducing atmosphere.
If a meta-goal of this project was to instill a love and understanding for this game into an expanded audience, I assure you that you can consider me a data point of success. Wish I could expand the love for Devil May Cry in the same way!

This is literally the easiest tutorial I've seen in terms of an entire texture change for an N64 game. It's super impressive and really neat that we all get to experience this.
This was working well for me until I tried to load my save state and it won't load any of them. It just says "Fatal Error: Stopping emulation". It doesn't happen with my original Project64 install or any games I try with it. I will have to just play the default MM I think. :( But this does look cool.
The kanji on the Bean Seller's arm is a detail I think almost anyone else would have missed. Well done
This comes at a perfect time because I like to replay this game in October for the Halloween-esque theming with the masks. I've been looking forward to this for years and I'm so happy this is done for possibly my favorite game. I'm sure even if Nintendo were to do an HD remake of this game I'd still come back to this as well because of how faithful it's done to the original art style.
You are easily the best tutorial I've ever seen when it comes to downloading things. The vast majority of tutorials are confusing as hell but you were actually straightforward and concise. Thought I'd just put that out there, my frustration has finally been quelled.
The reshade part is so unnecessarily confusing that i won't even bother myself with it.
Rather than that, i rate this video 9 Tingles out of 8.
What a legend! This is such a haunting and beautiful game - certainly the most meaningful gaming experience I've ever had. I can’t wait to revisit it in HD without the 3DS version’s shitty compromises

This has got to be the best retexture of everything ever. I'm surprised at how much only TEXTURES have made this game look beautiful. It looks almost like a modern game while having the old game's feel. You have made this the best way to play majoras mask (until mmn64hd3d super deluxe including funky kong) is released. Respect to you man I can only imagine all the work that has gone into this. I know alot of people have already asked but is there anyway you could give ocarina of time the same treatment? I love both of these games so much but playing this and then trying to replay OoT is hard, OoT looks like someone puked everywhere while majoras mask is pristine beauty. Anyways whatever you decide to do after this I hope and know it will go well!
