The Good Folk. Some call them Fairies, but that's a derogatory term. A fairy bush belongs to the good folk and anybody with any sort of common sense does not mess with the good folk.
It interesting to understand the beliefs people used to have and the reasons behind them. My grandfather was born on a dirt floor in a house that my grandmother still lives in, and it's incredibly important to value your heritage and traditions. But very few people believe this kind of thing anymore. I could guarantee that the man in the video doesn't believe a word of it.
The bends in the roads are likely to avoid the fairy bush. That understanding existed with Native Americans as well. A family cut down a tree that was sacred to them, they all died and only the wife was left. She donated the property which is called Yadoo which is now a writers retreat.
Which area of Ireland is that accent from? It's very unique.
County Clare
It's not very unique, it's soft Munster
Eddie is from County Kerry but lives in Clare many years.
Very interesting, what is he talking about?

I doubt this because there are no straight roads in Ireland, they will have bends for no reason at all.
Doubt the good folk at your peril................

The hawthorn tree is sacred too, no one who knows anything interferes with a hawthorn tree.
@ALavin-en1kr The only faeries left in Ireland become Taeschoks (however you spell that).
@@JohnBurman-l2l The fairies do not become anything. They remain their true, authentic selves.
