    That video unveils the whole new approach to mixing drums and treating transients/sustains of almost every sound. Mindblown! Thanks!

    Very nice! I’m thinking it would also be cool to make this a custom action. Select any track and run it, it would duplicate the track put a first preset on it with just attack, then move to duplicate and put the second preset on it :)

    • @TazzSmk
      @TazzSmk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      or, if someone could make Transient Splitter JS plugin which would send Attack on one stereo channel and Sustain on another stereo channel, then just do two sends to whatever new tracks - and make this a template ;)

    • @IDDQDSound
      @IDDQDSound 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TazzSmk I thought of that too! The issue would be that you still have to run the plugin and make two receive tracks to get them as faders :)

    • @TazzSmk
      @TazzSmk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IDDQDSound it could work within a track in basically same way you can use JS 3-band Splitter (then whatever plugins) and JS 3-band Joiner ;)

    Using an agressive comp on room and even saturation is my favorite trick for drums. You can circumvent 1175 minimum attack and release settings by typing in values directly to input boxes. Low values provide a nice saturation. Then blend it with dry signal. Be mindful of the low end.

      @@MediaBoy13 Thank You. I will follow him. Yes, I wonder why most Reaper power users are rock/metal affiliated. Do you know any one else in Pop music using reaper as a main DAW? I really Apricate your kind responses.

    • @MediaBoy13
      @MediaBoy13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ethio-gugs I think Reaper appeals to metal and rock musicians for a couple of reasons.
      It's free 60 day trial period (which is still able to be used for an indefinite period) is more appealing that a pricier, "industry standard" such as Pro-Tools or Cubase.
      Most musicians these days can get an interface for a cheap price and plug their guitar or bass in to record straight to Reaper and program drums or bass, which is incredibly ideal for bands to record demos or artists to make music in their bedroom. Reaper is a lot more "instrument friendly" compared to something like FL Studio or Ableton which are geared towards making beats and more rap/electronic/pop music due to the plugins, tools and synths that come readily available with them.
      With that being said, be the change you want to see and be that person who produces pop music with Reaper, good luck.

      @@MediaBoy13 That is right. REAPER is both simple, cpu light weight and ofcourse complex. It depends on how you want it to be. It helps thanks a lot. I got to subscribe to you. We are reaper friends afterwards.

    Isn't it simpler to just control transient/attack on the transient shaper itself instead of creating one track for each?
    I suppose there's merit on the idea of controlling it directly on the mixer, not sure if that's what Kenny's going for.

    • @REAPERMania
      @REAPERMania  2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Yes. It's simpler. And unfortunately I didn't have the time in this video to show you all of the flexibility that my method can provide. For example, you can now EQ the attack and release completely different. Maybe the attack could be bright while the release is darker. Or vice versa. You can also add different amounts of reverb to each. Or different reverbs altogether. But the biggest thing for me is like you mentioned. When mixing, you don't want to have to keep opening your FX if you can help it. So with this method, you can do it all with the faders while you're mixing.
