I really ship Germany and russia because I feel like these to would have a lot in common . Both of them never really show their emotions and either keep a straight face all the time or smile constantly. Prussia is really DDR in Hetalia but I think it's terrible to ship him with Russia (and I dislike how almost all RuPru djs are about this era). Russian Empire x Prussia is much better. Prussia literally gave Russia "Amber room" as sign of friendship between them (especially remembering that germans in WW2 stole elements of this room, it gives special meaning to these events). Catherine 2 was Prussian by birth and became one of the most succesful Russian emperors. And ballet "Nutcracker" was based on the tale of Prussian authour. Just listen to "Pas de deux" of Tchakovsky and imagine Prussia and Russia together, such a bittersweet feeling.

I've been simping for russia for almost a decade now and I ship him with almost everyone as long as i get to see my precious bby Ivan but i have to say RusFra/FraRus will always be my comfort ship. I just love their dynamic, how Russia kinda sees France as a mentor figure and how France sorta welcomes him. Even when they're in character these two problematic dudes just... fit together it's unbelievable. Just a little trivia, I live near Paris and it's somehow amusing to me seeing so many bus stops, metro stations, even schools named after something Russian like "Stalingrad", "Réaumur-Sébastopol" (from Sevastopol), "Youri Gagarine" (That one cosmonaut, you know him), etc. It might be unrelated to the ship but it's just cute i guess hshshsh

Honestly, I think (from a strategic point of view) that Lithuania’s (the character’s) main motives in the Soviet Union were: *#1:* To get closer to Belarus. *#2:* To make Russia happy in order to score ”points” in Belarus’s eyes (though that one backfired terribly, only serving to make her jealous of Lithuania for all the attention he gets from Russia; in addition to him coming off as annoying to her due to his anxiety/awkwardness in front of her). *#3:* Also, seeing as you implied Lithuania has masochistic tendencies, that would technically make the pain and the scars a reward, in and off themselves; which would only amplify the aforementioned jealousy on Belarus’s part. 🤔

i think dismissing germany is too reductive and simplistic speaking in more realistic terms and looking at the historical evidence more. sure yeah germany attacked ussr but ussr won this war. so in real life, people dont resent current germany as much as they resent something like usa. german-russian history isvery long and complicated but cant be easily reduced just to ww2. so in more realistic, less childish approach its not that impossible since they recovered their relationship more than usa and russia ever did despite having no real war conflict. it doesnt matter if they were close as enemies or friends, theres still a connection that is often depicted even in post war literature and verses about germany, which there are many. i guess it came from the fact that all in all, germany lost for good and russias bosses didnt try to pain germans as monsters, only its germany bosses and idealogy. as a result, no one hates germans, only nzs and even then, some pity them. out of all of those, this ship is probably the most complicated not because its difficult to write but because of how much history you can fit into it france also has a very long history with one another, abd russia at some point was heavily influenced by french culture, but thats more of the past thing. usa is more tricky but not impossible to ship once you go with more realistic approach of the nations and realize that no real life relationship is perfect or meant to last forever. stories need conflict. how boring itd be to read a story like "one day they fell in love and lived happily ever after. the end". if youd look at it like at some tragic sht like a story of star crossed lovers it would make more sense. all in all, i dont think ships that are in canon are that important since hetali is too heavily oversimplified and fan works that derive from real history often make more sense anyway, so canon is just a canvas to paint over on

Wow that was a good comment and explanation for a point of view,some of mine headcanons are a little bit similar,Germany always have to have and show devotion for his brother Prussia and Austria as family,take care of his friends (Italy and Japan) and listen to the Holy Roman Empire's(his childhood before death counterpart) mades and history because HRS's existed for more time than Germany,and as you said,Germany can have existencial crisis and attacks because of traumatic memories and because his counterpart had more devotion than Germany have now,Russia for the other side is always alone,even his allies doesn't are really friends,even with his sisters(his possible "only" family members alive) that he wishes that could get along and protect have toxic relationship with him, personally and professionally (political,economics and ideological reasons),I imagine that if Germany and Russia would have a development relationship it would be more or less like Bojack horseman and Sarah Lynn(as example),or anothers complex relationships that Bojack had, it's about two guys that want to find happiness and be themselves without the world collapse because of it and one day they could understand each other before something sad happens.

Russian Empire x Prussia is much better. Prussia literally gave Russia "Amber room" as sign of friendship between them (especially remembering that germans in WW2 stole elements of this room, it gives special meaning to these events). Catherine 2 was Prussian by birth and became one of the most succesful Russian emperors.
And ballet "Nutcracker" was based on the tale of Prussian authour. Just listen to "Pas de deux" of Tchakovsky and imagine Prussia and Russia together, such a bittersweet feeling.

I've been simping for russia for almost a decade now and I ship him with almost everyone as long as i get to see my precious bby Ivan but i have to say RusFra/FraRus will always be my comfort ship. i think dismissing germany is too reductive and simplistic speaking in more realistic terms and looking at the historical evidence more.
sure yeah germany attacked ussr but ussr won this war. so in real life, people dont resent current germany as much as they resent something like usa. german-russian history isvery long and complicated but cant be easily reduced just to ww2. so in more realistic, less childish approach its not that impossible since they recovered their relationship more than usa and russia ever did despite having no real war conflict. it doesnt matter if they were close as enemies or friends, theres still a connection that is often depicted even in post war literature and verses about germany, which there are many. i guess it came from the fact that all in all, germany lost for good and russias bosses didnt try to pain germans as monsters, only its germany bosses and idealogy. as a result, no one hates germans, only nzs and even then, some pity them. out of all of those, this ship is probably the most complicated not because its difficult to write but because of how much history you can fit into it
france also has a very long history with one another, abd russia at some point was heavily influenced by french culture, but thats more of the past thing.
usa is more tricky but not impossible to ship once you go with more realistic approach of the nations and realize that no real life relationship is perfect or meant to last forever. stories need conflict. how boring itd be to read a story like "one day they fell in love and lived happily ever after. the end". if youd look at it like at some tragic sht like a story of star crossed lovers it would make more sense.
all in all, i dont think ships that are in canon are that important since hetali is too heavily oversimplified and fan works that derive from real history often make more sense anyway, so canon is just a canvas to paint over on

well, i find this pairing interesting but even i have to admit that in hetalia they dont interract that much. also in real life and real history they were mostly rivals, that is until america came along. It makes writing stuff about them very difficult although the author of the video pointed out some interesting concept i havent thought about before. Previously ive only seen fanfics of them either being miserable fks as 2 fallen empires getting together or magic shenanigans.
