1CCBBH - 522. Metal Slug 3 (1 Credit Clear)

So it's come to this, huh? After all the smack I've talked about this game, I forced myself to sit down and attempt to learn it to finally put 1CC'ing the entire arcade Metal Slug series (note I said arcade, don't ask me about 7 / XX) to rest. And... after a lot of offstream practice in which I let absolutely nobody know I was labbing this, I got this within two attempts. Go figure! I wanted to start 2023 with a bang and this seemed like a good way to do it, so I have no regrets.

1CCBBH is a stream project in which I'm attempting to clear as many arcade games as possible on 1 credit, without continues. I am currently going through a bunch of games I've cleared before, and eventually will be tackling some new games I haven't gotten a 1CC on yet.

NO FUCKING WAY, BBH. I was one that even suggested you to try 1cc'ing Star Fighter while abck because of a trick you could get double or triple ship form one enemy, Galaga style..but even my sane brain wouldn't suggest this!
I thought I'd see this a an April Fools joke, and yet here we are.
I've dropped everything just to see this. This is a must-watch. Let's go!

I used to love this game, even would have put it in my top 3 at one point. Then I started trying to actually beat the Metal Slug games and 1cc attempts... 3 quickly fell down a few spots after that. Gratz on the 1cc. 🤘

Congrats. I've played this game since 2008, and never attempted a 1CC. Looking at how difficult it is I can see why someone would grow to think this is the worst game in the series because of that. Personally I just love it for the variety, and multiple paths you can take. Say what you want about the Final Mission, but considering this was the last game in the series developed by the original team, I'm glad they went out with a bang, and didn't compromise their vision/left it on the cutting room floor. Some games are just not worth the trouble of 1CC-ing.

Back 3 months later and holy hell this game was a fucking nightmare to 1cc. I somehow managed to do it without dying once. The 4th mission boss was a real bitch because of that fucking yellow attack he does. Complete and utter randomness with that part. I actually used this video to help me on that last part before the final boss so thanks for help😂😂😂.

congrats! Sol Dae Rokker was the thing I dreaded the most going into learning this, the absolute worst boss design. The devs were mad that people would speedrun bosses by stockpiling grenades and letting loose on bosses, so they designed a boss that was impossible to use a grenade on. And tried to turn the yellow shot pattern into a bullet hell when you're not given a hitbox that actually lets you dodge that shit. I would have dreaded it more if I hadn't seen another video showing off that strat of saving Shotgun ammo for it. Fuck doing it any other way

Metal slug 3 is fun to watch, there's clearly a lot of passion put into what at the time, was supposed to be the last snk slug.
not so much fun to play tho.

You did stage 1 too quick, if u hang about long enough on the boss stage you could gotten 21 pows when u finished

I still really like this game but the boss fights are certainly “inconsistent” in their quality. And by that I mean the Mission 4 boss sucks and I hate it.

I think it's better you don't try and 1CC 7/XX, as I actually think it's arguably even more difficult than this game, lol
(also, I could be wrong, but I think only the american xbox version had the infamously strict continue system, while the japanese and european ones had the more traditional "respawn where you last died" schtick)

I did actually see a gameplay video of the xbox version from the channel "The Geek Times" (which I'm pretty sure is a british channel since they have uploaded the european version of various game trailers), and it doesn't have the player start the mission over after continuing
