  • Hi everyone,
Here is a review of the new Rogue x Kabuki Strength Transformer bar.
I am also comparing it to the older Zinc version no longer offered.
Hope this video makes you decide if it’s worth to get the newer version offered by Rogue.
    Thanks for watching!

I have the feeling that the sleeve system is a step backwards at rogue. It looks less convenient than on the Kabuki.

      I agree!

Agree, very bad design move. They should of left it alone and had a pop pin design for that extra safety they were worried about.

@@ArmedBatmannaw those lil ears on the og version would snap off at like 600lb. Much stronger design, happy to see it

honestly since all these years of the bar to be in operation, I doubt that the actual ears were easily snapping as there would have been possible huge safety issues and complaints. Never heard of the ears snapping issue. I agree that at first it looks weird that such little things lock the sleeves, however when I look at Rogue designs, I'm thinking that it could just be an easier and cheaper business move to make a sleeve in a cylindrical shape and add the pin than having to form sleeves with ears....kabuki stuff has been thought through pretty good I think...just my two cents, i ain't no engineer though :)

I just ordered one from rogue, they are rarely in stock in Europe I saw them in stock this morning and got in quick, now they are out of stock again. I wish they would simplify the design the 4 "hardness" options aren't needed that is what adding weight is for.

I have a monster rack as well. I was reading reviews on rogues website and there were several people complaining about clipping the pop pin on the j cups, particularly the ghosts. Has that been an issue for you?

Have you tried doing banded squats with this bar and do you think it would be safe to do without bending or damaging anything in the camber mechanism or the removable sleeves?

Using bands or chains in any of the bars would be ok. I don’t do conjugate but I have seen people use bands with this bar without an issue.

Does the short handles feel better than the long bar handles. I have the transformer bar you compared to and was debating on upgrading. I love my bar but im a sucker for the overall design of the rogue one. I just worried about the powder coating.

They feel better much better as they are shorter and dont interfere with your knees/legs. They dont feel great as they are powder coat and you can barely feel the knurl. Note that the longer handles on the new one are longer than the older version so take that into consideration as well. I only upgraded it because of the shorter handles. The movement feels much better with shorter handles. Wish I would've order the black oxide from Kabuki before switching to Rogue.

Would this be better than a SSB Yoke?

The current Kabuki version has powder coating like Rogue’s version.

Not exactly correct. The Kabuki manufactured one in Oregon is all black oxide finish, which is very different than powder coating. Therefore the look of the bar will be the same essentially, but the knurling will be better. The black oxide sleeves are not as nice and will show wear more than Rogue’s black proprietary sleeve.
