      Idk, I’ve found that baby turtles love to wedge themselves into tight places for their own safety, and while you might at first panic about them getting stuck, they really know how to get themselves in and out of tight spaces

      @alanpalmer126 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@patrickstanley7211 I've had to rescue my baby painted from drowning himself in his own tank a half dozen times because of that. Now my moto is, better safe than sorry.

    With the amount of space you have, you can make make the whole porch under the shade there to be long wide aquarium or evena terrarium, where you can raise the new borns. IT would be great as a display piece and a beautiful viewing area, especially with LEDs at evening or nights.

  • @isai.9553

    Good turtles would be
    1.Shoftshell
    2.Pink belly side neck
    3.map turtle
    Those are my 3 recenedetions.

    Aquarium painting tip. Put on a very light first coat and let it dry. Then the second coat has something to adhere to and you’ll actually use less paint and have a nicer finished product.

    Kenan u have so many rare turtles you should get a few more commen turtles to educate new turtle owners that arnt going to have rare turtles I think u should get a few hatchlings of different species that can go in that tank with the diamond back terrapin like a painted turtle or something like that

  • @TristanL3
    @TristanL3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you use a bowl in the tank, hose into the bowl, and let that overflow to fill the tank with water, you’ll get a lot less substrate disturbance ✌🏻

    I also have a 55gal tank with two Marineland 220 pumps. I use river rock for the bottom. My sliders are about 18 months old and will eat all day if I feed them. They are twice the size when I got them. They rearrange the tank and move the plastic plants.
    I used a sheet of jungle paper to wrap around three sides.

      Works only if you don't need a monster tank lol but anything below 55-40 gallons is great when that sale hits. (They changed it so you can't get anything over a 40 iirc for $1/gal)

      Na he's right about online sales sites like craigslist, offerup, letgo, etc. I picked up 18 various sized tanks from 20gal to 125gal from someone who was getting out of the hobby for free. Just needed a little vinegar and elbow grease to make them like new again.

    Aquarium can get heavy very quickly so make sure your stand can support the weight. Water is 8.5 lbs per gallon and a 55 gallon tank empty is 78 lbs. Just filling halfway with water, substrate and decorations will put it over 400 pounds and most standard furniture is not meant to support that much weight.

    Razorback musk!!! They have wonderful personalities and beautiful patterns and I don’t think you have one haha put some fake plants throughout so it can rest if needed. Currently I have 5 dbt in a 55 gallon they damn near doubled in size in just a few weeks it’s crazy! Cute little turds

  • @Shaden0040
    @Shaden0040 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You should do traditional 20-30% water changes once a week to reduce the amonia, nitrates and nitrites from buildingup in the tank. I am sure turtles do not do well in high ammonia situations.

    You should always lay an aquarium on its front side to paint the back. This will eliminate any and all spotting and will give you a fully blacked out back, same for the sides and bottom. Use gravity in your favor. Also seeded biological media should of been used. I know you’re not a fish guy, just a few suggestions. Other than that, love your channel dude

  • @jackpepper2501

    Nice work! Chop an inch off of your log. If it expands against the glass it will rupture the aquarium seam or crack the glass. I hate going into civilization. Lol. You and me both. That's why I spent most of my life in the woods and in and on the water.

    i'm from jersey. every summer there's a turtle rescue i put together. down by doc road where my sisters boat is, any dead terrpains we find we'll cut open to save the eggs inside. ALWAYS, check dead turtles for eggs. i've saved quite a few in jersey by doing this. it's funny; when i crab here terrapins will grab my line. i use just a string, a hook ( not a hook but something to hold the fish on ) and terrapins will get pulled up hanging on the fish, lol.
