- When a team of burglars broke into a New Jersey home, footage showed the dogs inside wagging their tails instead of attacking. The thieves, who broke into the home on Tuesday morning, made off with a sack of valuables the dogs just watched from the sofa. In a second video from earlier this week, two burglars in Massachusetts gave a cookie to a dog named Chloe, subduing her. Mike D'Abruzzo, who trains guard dogs, showed IE how household pets react when burglars break in. #InsideEdition
What do they expect? These aren't guard dogs. Someone broke into my house a couple of years ago and my dog tried to go home with the guy

My son and I were rough-housing when he was about 7 years old. We were both playing, yelling, and acting like we were hurting one another. My CAT came tearing into the room, growling and puffed up three times his normal size! But when he saw it was me and my son, he was confused, and didn’t know who needed protecting! Lol!
Funniest thing I’ve ever seen! Wish I had that on video! Kitty passed several years ago, but he was one of the most loving, and certainly smartest, cats I’ve ever had. R.I.P. sweet boy. 😿

That couldn't be further from the truth, most burglars only want money and don't want anyone to get hurt, I know because a long time ago I was in that position, fortunately that was a long time ago and I have progressed a lot as a person.

Unless your dog is trained to protect it really won't do anything to protect your home. People really think their dog will do work but it's really a dog's bluff. My dog actually did help in a burglary. My house was broken into a few years back, and the criminals made off with the TVs, laptops, jewelry, all the good stuff. My dog, shadow, was in school for criminal justice at the time though, and brought up good ideas to the police about what she saw in the crime. Her insight on their method helped link the thieves to a string of other crimes, and im happy to say they were brought to justice.

When my house was broken into my dog went to her bed and I’m glad she did. She’s not trained in anyway to attack and I’m glad she wasn’t hurt, stuff can be replaced but an animals life is different.

As a child I had a pet goose who chased a burglar out of the yard. Otto's wingspan was about 5 feet across and he was mad a heck. Otto chased him flailing his wings and the guy ran and hopped the fence like his life depended on it. But Otto was really a sweetie, especially to kids.

My dog is a trained guard dog and she is my ptsd service dog. She always puts her body between me and whomever I may be talking to. She won't let anyone in my room. Her room too. She's s gentle giant but she will go for throat. She is very protective of me. And it helps I was bonding with her from her birth.

I have a dog, shes untrained but she loves to protect the family, she'll want to sleep as close as possible with you and when she hears a noise she goes haywire and barks so loud you can hear it two blocks away, her bark then starts a chain reaction with the other dogs, then she would growl and snarl and bark, but she'll never bite XD not once had she even bitten anyone, even her least favorite human, she also loves to kill snakes and rats/mice but shes just a medium sized doggo, its her birthday today too! Shes the best dog ever!

I absolutely agree, however there was no owner in sight in these videos. But I suppose the energy of those burglars wasn't really negative either so it makes sense that the dogs didn't go crazy.

Normally your dogs would attack if you were there and you felt threatened. Dogs can pick up on human emotions and can act on them to defend their owner.
