Good info! Kind of happy not to be stuck with any one company and have the freedom to use whatever. Cool that you have sponsors that help out with entry fees though, that’s helpful!
Shopping local truly is the best! Supporting small businesses creates a stronger community. That said, if you're actively promoting a company, it's fair to hope they'll also show support for you in return. Sometimes it can feel like being part of a large 'pro staff' team means getting lost in the crowd. It's always worth ensuring that your partnership is mutually beneficial and that your efforts are genuinely appreciated!
💯 many companies give “discounts” but never really pay it forward to the anglers working their butt off. I’m in the same boat. Drop all sponsors and go the community route. Rather make content for my folks and create a strong ambassador program for my brand. No more pro staff. Just community!
Totally agree Dom. To each their own on what they think their time is worth but I'd rather continue on my branding. TH-cam is a hobby and never will be a source of income for me😆 Community is spot on! Happy Holidays!
Learned this big time when a few companies sponsored my car. It got to the point where I felt like I was doing more for them than they were doing for me. Nothing wrong with it, but having control with what you use and what you show on your channel is more important than sponsorship. 🙌
Those companies got their money's worth for sure. Like I told you, I learned everything about those companies and their baits from your posts. Hope to see you at a YAB event in '25!
What’s up brother That’s what I was referring on my Facebook post about the bunch of promoters 😂 I glad you figured out that not worth the effort for promoting your own money 👊🏻
Nice job Sean. Very useful info and having to omit a particular bait that is working for you on your socials is just silly. Keep the good stuff rolling.
Good content to bring up! I mean is “pro staff” worth it? How big of a discount do you actually get for posting an advertisement on your facebook every week? With TH-cam channels, what does that payout? All these “angles” I see guys going in this sport , but is it really worth it ? I mean if I found a “sponsor “ to pay my entry fees and gas to a tournament I think that would be worth it, but getting 30% off a rod is not worth it ! In my opinion.
Agreed Bryan, The fact that brands put items on sale to match the price of a "Pro Staff" Discount was probably my turning point. at 56 years old I'd couldn't give two craps about spending a couple extra bucks with a local shop and getting some local juice and spending local. 😆
