I played rugby league in a comp with a high proportion of Pacific Islander and Māori and prior to big games we would line up and face off the Haka. The intensity is electrifying and it’s awesome to watch but even better when they are feet away coming towards you. The Aboriginal warcry is a recent innovation to games and as an Aussie it’s absolutely amazing to see and fills me with pride.

Every man watching the showing of being a warrior stirs an internal wanting for being in a moment, it’s been the same way through all ages. When that Adrenalin flows men and women become for those moments indestructible, emotional, remembering history, this is why every sport loves the Hakka, motivating and focusing. Love your own history, love your warriors.

There is a third option though we do find pride but not in every moment of our history we acknowledge the terrible things some of our ancestors did yet acknowledge the good things they did as well this has its drawbacks though because from your perspective any pride in our own history is often seen as hate for yours which is not the case for most of us nowadays

Keeping their culture alive and protected is so close to my heart. I love seeing how profound these videos are. I can’t love them enough. We don't necessarily have these war chants performed at games but we DEFINITELY do honor our natives. I've been to Packers games where members of the Oneida tribe do a prayer before the game, and a lot of teams across all different sports have ways they recognize the native tribes, if they have a significant local representation. Florida State does a great job, but its mostly done in the Midwest and southwest states.
