Mitakuyape : I was born into a white family as you can see my my birth name. The road of life has brought me 2 the Oglala Lakota Nation. I am " Angel With Tatoos", is the name that was given 2 me. I wanted 2 say respectfully of course , that this video was made or posted 11 years ago or more. I want 2 reassure you that the native Oglala Lakota tongue / language has not disappeared and faded into an oblivion! To the contrary right now on Pine Ridge Reservation the Lakota language is being restored to its place in schools , colleges, universities, at home and in all walks of life from what I understand . The language has had a rebirth. The language is being taught and spoken 2 young and old from one end of reservation 2 the other. Teachers from other parts of the world are helping 2 keep the Lakota language alive. I am currently learning and speaking Lakota . This journey in life has brought me 2 the Lakota Nation of Native American Indians. I'm no longer a white man bcus my cante ( heart) is Lakota. Be rest assured our language is being preserved and taught 2 future generations. May Wakang Tanka bless the Lakota Nation on Pine Ridge Native American Indian Reservation and wherever they may be. Please Great Spirit= Creator=God= Yahweh please bless the Lakota children and youth , and please bless the Tatanka ( Buffalo) . May they roam the open prairies now and may their numbers increase abundantly 4 future generations. My prayers, hopes, and we'll wishes be with you all. Each and everyone of you. The days are coming soon in this generation where evil and wickedness and suffering will be no more. Those who hurt you and your people will stand before Wakang Tanka whose name is Yahweh and he will render judgement on everyone of them. And those of your people who were massacred Wakang Tanka has their names written down in the Book of Life each and everyone Wakang Tanka will blow through their spirit nostrils the breath of life and they will rise and live again in a land where the lion will eat hay and straw alongside the Buffalo, and the baby will play alongside a Serpent and no harm will come to him. Soon one day this will be a reality for all who fear Wakang Tanka as the Giver of Life and Creator. I say Amen to close this comment and prayer! Amen! Toke sha okhe . We will talk later. Send me a reply anytime.
Since my childhood, I've always loved and still love and will love forever the native americans. I've always felt since my youngest age that these people suffered a lot. I wish you all the best and I love you so much. May God bless you and bless your ancestors.
Great video, was a great honor and a privledge to be involved and able to ask these fine people questions and i'm sure greatful to the filmmakers and the patricipants for allowing me to share their great stories and wisdom.
Bill Iron Hawk Do you happened to know this gentleman named Jason Black Tomahawk he was a very good friend of mine, i got married and i lost contact with him i want to know if he is well,i think about his letters ,his peace his honesty.
I have enjoyed these historical stories . I agree it is very important to continue the stories to hand down and the language must continue. Yes, they should never have taken your lands or put you away from each other schools away from your traditions and cultures. Be very proud of who you are. Yes keep your beautiful ways.
This has been a great documentary, the elders keep saying there is nothing for the people. Why do you not start up gardens, yes they are not being paid to do this job but have the benefits of those gardens and maybe enough to share.when you eat what you grow it feels good. Sing in gardens enjoy the day with those there with you. This would be a great way for them to learn the songs rather than in a classroom. Much respect
My grandparents & their siblings hav passed onward as of course my great grandparents & their siblings. I began asking when I was five, about our ancestors. Where we come from? Curious of our bloodline & history. Unfortunately they didn't know many details about our long ago history. I was told that the blood of warriors & slaves run through our veins & that we r tied 2 the land. I am so attracted 2 learning about my people & why so much was lost. So many; slaughtered. Healing is Essential.
Fascinating ...I am trying to learn as much as possible about your peoples culture and I found this video very informitive ....thank you for sharing ....
it is true because it is lost or hidden in mine and there comes a time when we KNOW who we are and recent the loss of our own cultures.I am determined to find and learn my culture. i have several cultures in me but want to know my Irish and MY native ways.
Almost makes me sad to listen, however, the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota are a resilient people - also a beautiful people. When there is life, (being alive), there is hope! I pray every night for the revival of all the things that are good in the Lakota tradition. Blessings!
The Lakota are not the only tribes that are so connected to the spirit world . The HOPI are connected to the star world . Much has been lost and few keep ideas and dreams alive Like the song says in english says one day we will return , actually none have never left . I was told a long time ago I may have some Cherokee DNA , blood , I would really like to know .
hey one thing i have noticed as im watching a lot of videos on natives, where are the horses? seems like the reservations would be perfect for horse breeding and also it is part of the old culture right?
Hau. Anpetu waśte. Ćetan wićemina waun. Pilamaya. Lakotiya waśte lila. Owakehi wo. Hello. Good day. 10 Hawks, I am. Thanks. Lakota is really good learn it. How hard was that? I started with śunkmanitu tanka owićé dances with wolves. I got the language pamphlet, mailed to me with a tape, which I have not yet digitized. I got the dictionary‘s from the Smithsonian at the Native American museum on the mall
GREAT VIDEO... I AM LEARNING THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT NATIVE AMERICAN HISTORY.... WE TOO HAVE BEEN COLONIZED BY THE SAME OUTSIDERS AND INDOCTRINATED US THRU RELIGION AND FEAR.... THANK YOU
there are other things they can do, especially single men. ranch hand for a season, save, take the money back to build things for the children like a swingset, skateboard pipes, skating rink, church, etc...donations help too, it doesn't have to be money, it could be wood, concrete, doors, windows, caulk, building materials, go dig wells and have an outside well to access for those whose pipes freeze, woodstoves, wood, etc.. it would be nice if the nation helped donate things to help them build, that Cheyenne river reservation needs help too. the government is supposed to have them better housing for sure, electric or solar panels donated too.
I am told I am of Scandanavian Descent and Sioux. Someday i wish to look deeper into my ancestry and find out the facts of my heritage. but one thing is for certain, when i look at an animal i see another person, not a thing. when i walk down a path or even just down a street and see a tree i can almost feel it breath. if only the great Cheif Crazy Horses prophecy would come true... this dieing world we as "Americans" see as a resource might accually recover from the damage it is sustaining. i am a mut, a mixed blood man. mad at my own skin for being white, and sad for the people and family i have never even gotten a chance to hug or see
Rather than being foreigners, Mexicans (and Central Americans, who were also Nahuatl-speaking peoples) are indigenous to Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. It also corroborates the oral traditions of Hopi, Pueblo and Lakota Indian elders -- that Nahuatl-speaking peoples are their relatives
Well i suggest changing the title of the video or putting a little more work in whatever you're trying to bring to light and find people who are actually elders.

Why you don't publicate your books.

when you do not have your identity, you get depression and addiction

That's true, but it's also not the point of the film.

Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate the feedback.
