Nowadays it's all about efficiency and power, which I think over time Honda will discover, you can't have both reliably. I hope I'm wrong, I'd really like to see how these things hold up over time. The 2.0 is definitely a way better choice than the 1.5. That is just way too much strain on a little engine pulling a heavy car, I don't know what Honda was thinking. As a current 1.5t sport owner with 36k miles (started with 18k), the big reason for me to potentially trade for a 2.0t sport is the transmission. 10 Speed Automatic/ Manual (of course) > CVT. As a spirited driver I like to push my daily occasionally, and based on the history of CVT failures long term I don't get the confidence that it will hold up as a long term daily. I'm debating on either upgrading to a 2.0T with the chance of getting a rare manual however the 10 speed auto is very nice, or either getting a brand new Subaru WRX either 2020 or 2021; cuz awd for new england weather and I've always wanted a WRX but been kind of iffy and weighed the reliability score between it and something like the 10th gen accord.
I have the V6 coupe. I've driven both. Without a doubt, the new accord is better then the last generation in almost every way. Where the V6 win though, is the sounds of the engine and exhaust. Plus the V6 accord engine in known to be reliable where as this is a new engine, besides that, the new accord is better.
Vande Velde Vlogs 2 of course, go big or go home is what I always say. I wanna do a cold air intake, Borla exhaust, rims and maybe an airlift suspension.
Hay Cameron, my buddy has the 2020 accord. I drove it. Drives smooth. Lots of space. It does feel low. I still dont think I'd trade it for my 2018 SI Coupe though.🤣 Great video man. Keep em coming.
I had a 2018 Civic Si for one month. As soon as the 2018 Accord 2.0 6 speed hit the lot, I traded it in. The L15 is nice for a daily and if you want an LSD with your manual trans, but the opportunity to have a factory k20 turbo......couldn't pass that up. Plus the power down the road mod for mod will do it much better. I didn't like the fact that the clutch setup on my 2018 Si would slip right from factory because it wasn't made very well and needed an upgrade before ANY power mods. But they look amazing IMO
I have a 21 touring in metallic grey. Just did a chrome delete, gonna vht the chrome exhaust, switched to gloss black H,and accord and 2.0t symbol. Added the heated steering wheel for Canada models. And some aftermarket tailights on the way. Bought it with 16k on it and it already had a prl intake. These 10th gen accords and that 2.0t with the 10 speed is an absolute dream to drive. And my last 2 vehicles were 60,000$ and up. I think the touring is the best pick if you want adaptive dampers because it's only a few k more than the sport. And has ventilated and heated leather. It does come with alot of chrome tho.
I have 3% and 15% in the front and 20% on the windshield. Black on black and it's so dark at night. Still haven't been stopped so still looks pretty chill. And I agree CVT lags compared to the 10-speed.
The Type R has the K20C1 and the 2.0t Accord has the K20C4. Same block and everything but with a smaller turbo and more moderate tune. The same K20C4 in the Acura RDX and TLX makes around 280. So with a tune, that Accord could easily be pushing 280 and maybe further with better internals and a larger turbo.
My brother got a steal for a 2020 touring edition every option included. It’s quick for what it is but it dies down after the 80-100ish mark, well from what I’ve experienced driving it. Looks best in white tho imo.
It was (I think, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) he’s second car review, so the standards of his reviews weren’t clearly set. This is like a small upgrade to what to expect from his reviews which is nice. Also we tried to keep it professional as we didn’t know people would actually like to see an accord (or another car) review from Cameron’s audience.
ROBERT SANCHEZ in theory we just rolled the ball and tried to see if the audience would like it, and by the looks of it, it seems that they loved it which then makes Cameron do more car reviews for his audience
Sadly they only do the all LED to the touring which is pretty penny to buy. Which is why I’m planning on doing a touring LED swap. The rear inserts as well. The rear signals are easy replace bulb.
@@cartoonathalo its annoying that any trim below touring doesn't have the trunk LED brake lights. Honda cheaping out there but I mean we can just swap em in.
Yeah, great choice. V6 is faster in speed but the 2.0t is faster because of the turbo and lower gears. On drawbacks to the v6 is that you have the 6 speed (auto) trans (should have the 9 speed like acura) and the infotainment system is very outdated.
cartoon209 I like the 2 screens that my v6 comes with. However, the v6 auto trans I have gives me poor mileage (15-16mpg) in the city (I have a heavy foot). Then I saw the Acura TL type s coming out next year. Not sure if I want to keep my accord anymore 😒
Michael Marin it’s up to you, the TLX are going to have 2.0t and the type a is going to have a V6 with turbo. The choice is yours but who knows how reliable the type a will be? The auto transmission in the accord 9th gen is a bummer but it’s good. If only they did the 9 speed like the pilots or Acura cars.
That 2016&17 is best looking Accord they ever made, I've been looking for a touring v6 for a while now. Turbos are cool, but after 75/80 there's no replacement for displacement
daphenom45 I would sell you mine, but I love it too much. I got it new in December 2017. I only have 25k miles on it. I drive it once or twice every two weeks. I use my civic to drive to work.
i hear ya , i did the same came from 1.5 hate crappy cvt with a simulated paddle shifter total waste to 2.0 y , yes it does have bigger brakes drives excellent and paddle shifter do work in 10 speed works excellent as i use it al lot to slow down and overtake and reduce the amount of pushing the brakes , changed my air filter to k&n and its bang for your buck all the bells and whistles you need for your daily life .
Hey man, I was in your footsteps. As long as you are happy you are good. Don’t think you are under us because you are a 1.5t. I’ll still defend you when a 2.0t comes around.
Marcus McNeal it’s alright and nice to have but bumper to bumper traffic you start to feel the rubberbandiness of the transmission. Also if you give the Accord gas, you will feel the accord lag and the cvt wind up. Down shifting is okay but when you get to the “lower gears” it’s feel like a rubber band with tension.
I had a 2.0T, it was super fast! However, it would die in wet weather while trying to merge onto the interstate. Honda couldn't replicate, I traded it in. I believe Honda issued a recall on the fuel pump later.
Accord Sport 2.0T - 5.7 sec 0-60mph Civic Si - 6.2 sec 0-60mph. Plus Car and driver got 5.3 sec in the Accord Sport after 40k miles. Going by those numbers, I don't think the race would be close between the two cars. The 2.0T Accord smoked the old V6 Accord.
Don't like all that chrome. Honda should make the Sport trim look more sportier in my opinion. If you look at their Midsize competition: the Camry, Optima, Sonata, all those have a more sportier styling. Hopefully they make it look more aggressive for the next version.
cartoon209 I drive a lot in SoCal too so I feel you. IE to OC everyday. As much as I wanted a 6MT for my Civic the commute and my old man knees said CVT lol
The Honda motors with a CVT transmission have an "Atkinson Cycle" engine designed specifically for CVT with a broader torque band, but lower peak torque. With a 10 speed automatic they probably use a normal non Atkinson Cycle engine with a much higher peak torque.
Great review, I currently have a 9th Gen Sport CVT and plan to go 10th Gen 2.0t Touring in a few months (if I can find the color I want). I will say I can see folks wanting a traditional transmission over a CVT. There are some very clear differences that CVT's have vs geared transmissions. Overall though the MPG would be the chief reason to go CVT. But if you want more power the CVT's are going to top out pretty fast. I have seen folks modifying the 1.5t Accords and the CVT's failing on them. It's just not worth the headaches to modify and basically shorten the life of a CVT. The cost to repair a CVT is not worth it to me. I believe that Honda Accord 2.0t is great balance between MPG and street performance along with giving you the roominess of a midsize yet some zippiness of a smaller car. Or like it was said in the video "Dad Car". Keep in mind this Accord 2.0t (K20C4) is not the same engine from the Type-R (K20C1). The Acura RDX would be much closer to the Accord as far as the engine goes with the RDX having slightly more HP. Also this talk of a "De-Tuned" Type-R engine being in the Accord 2.0t is not true. They are differences in the engine internals, turbo, fuel system and even the cylinder heads are different. Here is a really good breakdown of the differences of the K20C1 and K20C4 th-cam.com/video/hXjJNJt4cnw/w-d-xo.html But basically the K20C1 is designed to handle more power than the K20C4. So please stop calling the K20C4 a "Detuned" Type-R engine. Thanks

Unless you are track racing...the 2.0 sport accord is worth every penny versus the Type R. You can get a 2.0 sport accord all in for less than $35K. accord looks better, more room, better road manners, and looks like a mature owners car.
If you use it on sport mode expect to fill up your tank alot frequently. It holds like 12 gallons per fill up. You will be 🔥 more gas quick. On economy it can give you about 28 miles a gallon if driven without stress.

Vande Velde Vlogs 2 of course, go big or go home is what I always say. I wanna do a cold air intake, Borla exhaust, rims and maybe an airlift suspension.
Hows gas milieage after that
Them accords are so nice
Hay Cameron, my buddy has the 2020 accord. I drove it. Drives smooth. Lots of space. It does feel low. I still dont think I'd trade it for my 2018 SI Coupe though.🤣
Great video man.
In the process of getting 2.0,great video! Respect to the dude,he knows his Accord...
Did u get it?
I got mine for 25K with 2K on the odometer 👌 I love it! Is also a 2.0
Does it display mph?
I have 3% and 15% in the front and 20% on the windshield. Black on black and it's so dark at night. Still haven't been stopped so still looks pretty chill. And I agree CVT lags compared to the 10-speed.
The Type R has the K20C1 and the 2.0t Accord has the K20C4. Same block and everything but with a smaller turbo and more moderate tune. The same K20C4 in the Acura RDX and TLX makes around 280. So with a tune, that Accord could easily be pushing 280 and maybe further with better internals and a larger turbo.
Yeah, someone has about almost 400 hp on the 2.0t.
My brother got a steal for a 2020 touring edition every option included. It’s quick for what it is but it dies down after the 80-100ish mark, well from what I’ve experienced driving it. Looks best in white tho imo.
You haven’t seen my old 1.5t silver one that had painted roof and door handles.
Speed limiter. This car has the engine but its limited. My old 2014 sport 2.4L top speed was 145mph. I was racing against a v6.
great review,I was expecting less from you guys at the beginning but you actually did a great job
The car pushes around 285hp saw a few Dyno for the 2.0
@6:17 "They're halogen, it's 2020 Honda, we kinda want all LEDs now" Trrueee, Same with the rear turn signals
Honda cheaping out there but I mean we can just swap em in.
that EP3 yes I’m looking at buying those touring lights. Especially the rear ones.
Remember same engine in Britain civic type R with 320 HP, so with tuning and some mods this can be achieved.
This driver is knowledge . Excellent video ,great guest .
I drive a 2017 accord touring v6, I test drive the 2.0t. It’s fun to drive, but, I love my v6 power.
Jose was a great guest. he knows his stuff.
José is a good fella
i hear ya , i did the same came from 1.5 hate crappy cvt with a simulated paddle shifter total waste to 2.0 y , yes it does have bigger brakes drives excellent and paddle shifter do work in 10 speed works excellent as i use it al lot to slow down and overtake and reduce the amount of pushing the brakes , changed my air filter to k&n and its bang for your buck all the bells and whistles you need for your daily life .
Yes people don’t give the Accord the love it deserves lol type R took all the credit. Lol
I have the 1.5t currently but will upgrade to a 2.0t manual as well soon.
Wish I had the 2.0T. I have the 1.5T Sport with Ktuner, but still doesn't compare to the 2.0T.
Hey man, I was in your footsteps. As long as you are happy you are good. Don’t think you are under us because you are a 1.5t. I’ll still defend you when a 2.0t comes around.
Diffrent transmission too.
@@cartoonathalo Thanks man, I appreciate that. Definitely happy/grateful for it.
I had a 2019 manual 1.5 and traded it for a 2021 sport 2.0, I got tired of shifting. The 2.0 is nice., gonna keep it.
I have owned a Honda Accord Sport 1.5 and the CVT is a definite downer!
It’s nice but very rubber bandy if you get what I mean
The Accord seems like it would be way too heavy to effectively use the CVT. Seems to work good in the Civic, but I wouldn’t want one not an Accord.
Yes on 2018-2019 models, I would be surprised if type r or RDX is on that list
What do you mean by wet weather please?
@@aymanal_jahwari9148, rain.
Accord Sport 2.0T - 5.7 sec 0-60mph
Civic Si - 6.2 sec 0-60mph.
Plus Car and driver got 5.3 sec in the Accord Sport after 40k miles.
Going by those numbers, I don't think the race would be close between the two cars. The 2.0T Accord smoked the old V6 Accord.
I think you’re new to my channel. My si is tuned. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be entertaining the possibility of a roll race
@@Camhill182 oh I gotcha...yeah definitely a tuned Si would be a good race. Glad you liked the Accord. I own a black Accord Sport 2.0T.
I can vouch for the accord. The accord has more power than rated it makes 250 to the wheels.
Don't like all that chrome. Honda should make the Sport trim look more sportier in my opinion. If you look at their Midsize competition: the Camry, Optima, Sonata, all those have a more sportier styling. Hopefully they make it look more aggressive for the next version.
Nice car and all but I was done watching the video when he said he got the Automatic for that Accord, I'd get 6 speed MT on that.
I got auto for the remote start. I like my car ready so I can leave for my commute. Also bumper to bumper traffic is annoying with a manual trans lol
Auto is faster
cartoon209 I drive a lot in SoCal too so I feel you. IE to OC everyday. As much as I wanted a 6MT for my Civic the commute and my old man knees said CVT lol
6 spd was my main mission when copping this car. I had to settle for red instead of white because of the manual foolishness.
Marcus McNeal Lol people don’t understand that I commute and you understand. Lol I found like 2 or 3 manual trans.
I’m so glad you looked at this car
The Honda motors with a CVT transmission have an "Atkinson Cycle" engine designed specifically for CVT with a broader torque band, but lower peak torque. With a 10 speed automatic they probably use a normal non Atkinson Cycle engine with a much higher peak torque.
Silver looks good, but the tinted Platinum white is a more premium look. What do you guys think?
A lot of people haven’t seen my 1.5t silver one that’s why.
Lol
Here is a really good breakdown of the differences of the K20C1 and K20C4
th-cam.com/video/hXjJNJt4cnw/w-d-xo.html
But basically the K20C1 is designed to handle more power than the K20C4.
So please stop calling the K20C4 a "Detuned" Type-R engine. Thanks
Nice overview. You guys seem very honest and true gear heads. I appreciate the video. I was a Honda Accord guy for many years, buying my first Honda in Downey CA. But, switched to KIA for daily driver and 2019 Mustang GT for weekends. Again, sweet looking Accord... baby got looks!
I have the speed limit feature in my Civic....it's called "Waze" jk....lol 🤣
I have the accord 2.0t touring and I enjoy it
I have a type R and here I am drooling over that sexy Accord lol
Cool vid 🔥🔥🔥 learned bout accords today. I’ve always been a fan of the accord coupes .
I sure hope that V-6 Coupe comes back...such nice lines!!
Elk Grove regional park! You're in my neighborhood lol. If you ever want to race a stock Si coupe to see how much faster your mods have made you, let me know!
I had a feeling this area looked familiar, and then I saw the Lodi plate frame and realized it was nearby. lol
If anyone wants to run a 9th gen FBO tuned Accord LX 6MT sedan, I'm up for it haha
got a 2021 Hybrid Touring.. 2.0 Dark Steel w Black int. Love the ride with adaptive suspension..
I have never been an Accord 2.0!! They look so good! I have been a huge car enthusiast and Honda fan !! That awesome how Honda can make great cars that perform well with all still amazing gas mileage!! My 2019 Civic Type R gets 24 mpg around town And 28 highway witch is not too bad for the performance you get! Always great videos Cameron!! Keep up the incredible content!! I love the review videos!!
As always, thanks Shaun!
the 2.0 accord has sunroof and power seats vs 1.5 sport don’t
1.5t has power seats as well. 1.5t doesn’t have heated seats.
I have a 2015 Si and I've thought about moving to the Accord 2.0T but I need it 6 Speed manual
Unless you are track racing...the 2.0 sport accord is worth every penny versus the Type R. You can get a 2.0 sport accord all in for less than $35K. accord looks better, more room, better road manners, and looks like a mature owners car.
Dad Car FTW!!!
Gotta love that truck like Accord turning diameter. I would still buy one, but that definitely isn't an Accord strong point.
If you use it on sport mode expect to fill up your tank alot frequently. It holds like 12 gallons per fill up. You will be 🔥 more gas quick. On economy it can give you about 28 miles a gallon if driven without stress.
the 2.0T from the accord is the same engine in the type R just less power
Got it, he read the brochure lol. He sounds like a Honda salesman
dylan, be nice
Cameron Hill he’s okay. It’s the small things that people don’t notice that you don’t see in the salesman’s videos and yes Dylan I was shy of course. I’m not very camera friendly but I am a funny guy. I just gotta get used to the camera. Also I was star struck by seeing cam and his civic SI lol 😂
Very mature with the visibility, cup holders, power seats. Someday you guys will be 40 and be shopping Ferraris and Lamborghinis!
I'm trying to decide between this or the Mazda 6 2.5. I like the acceleration of the Honda, but I prefer the looks and interior of the Mazda.
The Mazda 6 has no aftermarket whatsoever. The Accord being siblings with the CTR gives it a HUGE aftermarket.
Funny you brought up that shifting problem with your forearm hitting the drinks. I own a 2.0 manual and yeah... That's still a problem haha. Shifter is in the way
There is actually quite a difference in the fk8 motor and accord motor. jalopnik.com/heres-exactly-what-makes-the-2018-honda-accord-and-civi-1820164645
THIS^^^ I was watching the vid and I'm like, it's DEF not a detuned type R engine. That and the trans is different also. The only real comparison to the Type R you can make is they both have a turbo K20 lol. Thanks for the link, Didn't want to have to do it myself.
That engine is dope and the car looks awsome so much room definitely somthing to look at
You won’t be disappointed
Definitely a great car
Chris Woods it is a great car. I highly recommend the 2.0t over the 1.5t.
Got an 2018 2.0 touring. With stage 2 K tuner also Mishimoto high flow intake. Soon to come down pipe and inner cooler. Come check it out
Come check it out where?
I think I’m super far. I’m in Ohio:(
☹️
@@vandeveldevlogs8471 me too! What part? Really struggling with what to buy. Have a 2020 2.0t 10 speed but thinking of selling for the 23 civic si
yo, did you adjust the audio settings in your accord ? I just got a 2020 touring and the audio isn't that good. just wondering what you set them to so the quality is better than the default settings
My settings: -2 treble, +1 mid range, +2 bass. My other setting to try is +2 treble, +1 mid range, +2 bass
I got a 21 touring in sonic grey pearl. I love it more than any car I owned. Nice review. I gotta get them led reflector lights for sure
I traded in my 2018 Accord 2.0T Manual for a 2020 Si. They both have their pros and cons, but I really missed the better stereo and better shifter.
I liked the bigger screen and all that torque, though.
Seems like you downgraded
Saddened the 2021 will no longer have Manual trans. So much for #savethemanuals 😢
Or coupe civics, or Si’s or the Honda Fit
Si will come back remember they missed out the 10th gen 16 model year.
Waiting for the refresh and hope they redesign the rear the taillights are horrible looking
Lol tail lights aren’t amazing but the rest of the car I love so far.... until the refresh lol 😂
I have the 1.5 still night pearl I love it
Have you ever thought about a speaker upgrade and while you're at it installing some deadening?
One day, eventually.... I just want to slowly mod things
Why don’t you slide the cup holder back halfway and then put your drink in the big cup holder. I fit my 40oz. Hydroflask no problem in it
28k? that's a bargain and a half. i'd like to see what one is like with 150k on it. i bought my 2008 exl 2.4 with 139k several years ago and being retired don't put a lot miles on it. it's getting time to update and the 2.0 accord is the only one i'd consider...thanks, subscribed...
So far the highest I seen in mileage (Accord forum on Facebook) is 101,XXX miles. All legit commuting and he has a 2.0t accord touring 2018
@@cartoonathalo thanks for the info. i hope i can find nice used one--it would very probably be my last car and a nice way to go before leaving the driving to someone else!
This acord is so underrated.........
Don't compare Civic and Accord man, its big big different. The accord much smooth and very comfortable Car. You don't feel tired driving it.
I had the 1.5t but I think it maybe totaled. It had oil dilution problems and you can feel the transmission jerk like someone hit you. If I get another car It definitely be the 2.0t.
11:42 when I saw that e-tran I was like wait is this video in Elk Grove haha.
Nice video and it kept coming up on my recommendation but finally saw it today. I had a 18 Sports 1.5T but recently got a 20 Touring which now only comes in 2.0T since 19. Wow big difference!! I love those active dampers! The Accord is super nice overall. I was thinking for a bit to get a 20 Civic Sports Touring hatchback cause those are nice too but I wanted that bigger engine and space too of course. It would've been cheaper but I got a great price for my Accord Touring.
with all the torque, Honda needs to put this motor in the CRV
It's in the RDX, and that is probably why they won't put it in the CRV.
Tractor Home Improvement honestly that’s what really made me get a 2.0t. My uncle has a RDX and he let me drive it when I had my 1.5t. After that I really wanted a 2.0t more
Missed out on the manual with the 2.0. Huge fun.
Have fun searching 😂 they are cancelled and rare to find
Does the 2.0T Honda Accord also suffer from the oil dilution issue that the 1.5T Honda Accord has?
No
Is this color actually better than the white?
Lmaooo wait whaaaat?!?! I knew I noticed that road you were driving on y’all is in Elk Grove?! I’m in South Sac, when I get a car this summer when I graduate Ima mod it first day I get my hands on it🤣 Would love to grace the channel if I’m worthy😭😭
Great video man!! 👏 can’t wait for the race.
My friend got a Red 2.0T sport for 29k
To be safe long term but at the same time have a good noticable difference in performance which would you think we be best, hondata or Ktuner?
for the accord, ktuner
Hey, nice review, big accord fan, can you tell me the track you played at the end of the review, really like the track
Did your friend ever consider upgrading into a manual transmission? 🤔
I do a commute lol it’s not worth the time and energy to do it lol plus that’s clutch burning and burning. I do bumper to bumper traffic
cartoon209 I am with you. Outside of COVID times I spend so much time in traffic. I always have to go auto and it’s nice to have non cvt options!
