Ooh Lucy! They have lovely songs, I really like Snooze! Speaking of idols, I haven't read Tamon's B-side yet, so I don't know how it compares, but I enjoyed The Yakuza's Bias, which is about a yakuza basically stanning idols, and I was crying with laughter, it really spoke to me as a kpop fan lmao. I've also seen the anime for Raven of the Inner Palace, and I enjoyed it enough to be interested in the light novel, so I will be looking forward to your thoughts!! I think it has bit of an Apothecary Diaries vibes because of the court drama and mystery elements, but it's been a while since I've seen it. (I also saw your comment regarding danmeis, it's definitely an... experience getting into them, but once you do, there are some beautiful love stories in there. I read Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation years and years ago, and the relationship between the male leads is still one of my favourites.)
omg yes i've been meaning to read the yakuza's bias!! everytime i see it in the store though the volumes are really beat up so i tell myself i'll buy it online but then i forget TT
glad you enjoyed! and i am interested in danmei but everything ive looked into has had super long trigger warning lists which has put me off on those and i hear a lot about how emotionally taxing the stories are etc so 😅 if you have any recommendations for something nonexplicit or tragic let me know
@@tsukkinotes I 100% get that! 7seas is the only major publisher publishing danmeis right now and so far, majority of the works they’re licensing is very long and emotionally winding. For better or worse, they are the most accessible publisher for danmeis for those in the US. One title they have that’s light and fluffy is “The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish.” It’s quick and funny to read through no matter what state of mind you’re in! However, there is ableist language and Mpreg (but no explicit sex scenes). It’s currently ongoing! A manhua adaptation 7seas is doing of a danmei is “I ship my Rival x Me.” It’s coming out later this year around November and I highly recommend it! It’s one of my favorites, just overall super fluffy and a good time. It has commentary on celebrity shipping culture and it can be very self-aware at times. Finally-A recommendation from a smaller publisher is “Golden Terrace”! It’s published by Peach Flower House, completed at 2 volumes. Both volumes are available to purchase on the B&N site! It’s so, so, so good! There’s political intrigue (not super difficult to keep up with though! Author and translator does a fantastic job!) It’s an enemies to lovers. The main couple is very much right person, wrong time. Both are extremely capable in their own rights. It’s not very long, but it’s so sweet and stands as a completed story at two volumes. This is another one of my favorites! There is no major trigger warnings for this one :) None of these recs have explicit smut scenes either. Please let me know if you have questions! I live and die for “I ship my rival x me” and “Golden Terrace” and I would love to know what you think, should you decide to give them a chance!
@@tsukkinotes I 100% get that! 7seas is the only major English publisher licensing Danmei's right now, and a lot of their released titles are very long and emotionally winding. I have some recommendations that are all non-explicit, and relatively lost-investment. ! "The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish" is a fun and light read! It's currently being released in English, with 1 out of the 4 volumes. It's about a guy who transmigrates as a fish, and now he has to find his way into the heart of an emperor and prevent him from turning into a tyrant, all the while with the aid of a video game system. It's silly goofy fun, and reads incredibly quickly! There is ableist language and mpreg so beware if that is not your thing. Nothing explicit though! This is one of my favorites: "Golden Terrace" by Cang Wu Bin Bai. This is from a smaller publishing house, Peach Flower House. It's completed at two volumes and you can order both of them from B&N online! It's so, so, so good. It's a historical danmei. There's political intrigue, but it's not confusing because the author and the translator did an amazing job! The two main leads are super well-written characters who can hold their own. It's sorta enemies to lovers, and the two very much give the right person, wrong time vibes. Again, nothing explicit. This one has not been released yet but will be coming out later this year in November! It's actually a Manhua adaptation of a danmei "I Ship My Rival x Me." This one is also another one of my favorites! It's a comedic romance, with very meta commentary on celebrity shipping culture. It's self-aware while being effortlessly hilarious! It's about this B-list actor who consumes fan ship content of himself and another A-list actor (whom popular media has dubbed his "enemy" but really, he's not) to escape the toxicity of the celebrity world. When this "rival" and the mc are cast in the same drama, hijinks ensue. Please let me know if you have any questions! I would love to talk about Danmei's more! "I ship my rival x me" and "Golden Terrace" have my whole heart, and I would love it if they intrigue you enough for you to pick them up.
if i'm thinking of the same thing as what you said about the book display stand that sticks out the bookshelves, i've seen some of those a couple of times at the us daiso stores, but stock comes and goes
Hi, i am a recent viewer of your channel, just binged watch almost all of your videos and as someone is new to the manga scene i only have 2 volumes... However ive recently started reading a series on K manga called "My Home Hero" and based on what ive seen we seem to have similar taste in media (book wise) and i dont know if you read it or heard of it, but if you haven't, i implore you to check it out! (25 chapters free btw).

Since you’re trying to get into light novels, I was wondering if you read danmeis?

ahhh yes i hope to find them in the wild one day, i'm always a sucker for any new bookshelf accessories they have there lol
My closest B&N is the Glendale mall, it’s so annoying to go there
oof ya my closest one is about an hour away and it’s a small one so pretty rare that i feel like making the trek
GLENDALE?? BRO THATS DEVASTATING I HATE GLENDALE MALL
