1972Linclon. That was me talking to the elderly neighbor and I was trying to simplify my answers to his questions. I didn't explain to him that you need to gently float the AFFF on top of the burning fuel in order to not plunge the water and foam under the fuel and spread the fuel fire. Something I am sure you must be good at as I read your passionate post about the use of foam.

George....I just got back from vacation and heard from my relative (employed officer with a fire department) to watch these videos. We ended up watching them together and it is very somewhat discouraging, as he was explaining the do's and dont's to this house fire - but mostly dont's from the actions of their command officer on this fire. On one side of the coin it is freakin hilarious watching this and should be on AFV. On the other side I am a tax payer for this department and it sickens me!

    Hey
Just found an "Oldie But Goodie" check TH-cam video titled:
    -Pleasanton House Fire
But hey, they do a good job protecting "The Centennial Light Bulb, as seen in this video:
-Centennial Light Bulb Celebration, 110 years.
By the way, isn't Wicktonville Fire Department in this area? Maybe they should take over.
back to the video on this page, sounds like someone who works for LPFD is "talking tactics and strategy" on the video. Matbe he was in Command?

Hey all don't be so harsh . . . Just another "LPFD Classic"
For a reminder of their past hit's see the following you tube video's:
    1. Car Explosion on Marsala
    2. Fire in Pleasanton CA on 7/5/10
    3. Engine 99 leaving 96's lot
    4. Livermore Multiple House Fire (listen to person in background on video)
and the hits just keep on coming!

Fahrenheit476. When people start posting all their nitpicky concerns about a fire it usually means they don't work for a busy department and they over worry about every little thing because they haven't been to a lot of fires. The burning fuel on the ground didn't harm anything and the BC was fine.

My uncle came over to see me from my return of being on vacation and we discussed in lenght the videos that Mr. Hudson listed. To my surprise my uncle also told me that a buddy of his saw a chief officer dancing in uniform at Arthur Murray dance studio that was posted on facebook! With public employee pensions on the chopping block, firefighter overtime capping salaries well over 150K, I have to ask why isn't the fire chief of this department holding his staff officers accountable!

I'm not buying it 476. I work for a large bay area metro fire dept also and that small amount of fuel fire on the ground compared to the large fire load that was presenting in the structure wasn't that big of an issue. You can see that the engineer on the hose line was able to sweep it back with no problem. And the IDLH atmosphere OUTSIDE the structure that the BC momentarily walked through may have the long term potential to cause cancer, but it hardly signifies a breakdown of training.

I think the guy in the white helmet is "Fire Marshal Bill" from Living Color. "Let Me Show Ya Something"
Hee Hee this should be submitted to America's Funniest Home Video's"

And, as someone who has worked 34 years in a large metro fire dept, you would have seen way more reckless behavior "back in the day." The level of outrage that your original post expresses doesn't jive with what you would have seen and experienced throughout your career. I'm not saying that they were perfect at this fire, but the "outrageous" safety violations that you point out just are not that big a deal. This "mentality" isn't reckless, just common sense.

Hmmm. I assume that by using your pomposity quote, you are implying that I am pompous. However the definition of pompous is "characterized by an ostentatious display of dignity or importance." Something that I would submit you are more guilty of with your posts than I. Also interesting how you label someone who disagrees with you as arrogant.

Than you randomly state that I must work for a volunteer department right after I stated that I WORK for a large bay area metro dept. Very odd. Plus your grammar is horrible! If you are going to try to debate someone, at least spell correctly and use proper sentence structure so your arguments sound more cogent.
