    The beauty of Roger Federer accentuated with the beautiful piano music. :)

    This is how I teach the forehand and backhand stroke. If my students continue to run forward into a high contact point then I make them let the ball bounce twice before contact, to get the feel of a relaxed arm. Great lesson, Tomaz!

    You are a master explaining really important aspects of the game in a very simple manner.

    No one teaches tennis like you Coach Thomas.
    I am very athletic and played a lot of sports.
    My problem, as most people, I can't keep my head down and I hit the ball too soon.
    Do some more videos on keeping the head still, staring at the ball, and a loss grip. This is the most critical aspect that is never discussed except by you.

    Thank you.
    I thought warming up means to destroy the ball and crush your opponents self esteem but I was wrong. Lesson learned and will adjust to this from now on.

    Tomaz - I wish I had come to know this kind of thing early in my tennis career. I like the way you explain everything and give a reason.

    I thought I was confused before watching this video. I need to practice more about this feeling. I want this feeling.

    I know you have heard this, but I say it as well: you are the best TH-cam coach out there. Just superb. I am trying to watch all of your videos to make me a better player.

    So much logic and common sense. Thank you Tomaz.

    Thanks. I have seen more experienced players doing this, especially hitting easy and slow, and I never knew why... You are trying to stay relaxed at the beginning. Will surely start doing this...🙂

    Great video topic... Much needed for recreational players. I call these drills "length without strength " drills.

    I feel better with your tips. I am 52 years old and can no longer play as if I was 20 years old accelerating so much the ball, beating hard.

    Will you post more on fundamental some time soon?
    Thanks for all your work!! Fresh beginner here... Wish I could afford to have in person classes with you!!

      Lucie, not to take anything away from your post, at same time to add that he does have many beginner lessons on his TH-cam site. For instance he talks about the basic way to swing, how to hit a forehand, how to hit a backhand, and a multi- step process for learning serve. You just have to look for them. I am a long time fan of his teaching...
      What I like about Tomaz is not just his straightforward unpretentious teaching style but also how he always goes back to the biomechanics; he gives the reasons why things are done.

    Great advice. Now I only have to convince my tennis partners to not go for winners from the very first stroke...

    Shall we stay far behind the baseline while rallying in the match?

    Simplemente St Thomas.

  • @jonathanchen1026
    @jonathanchen1026 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My question is, if your partner is hitting it hard or deep or high from the get go, should you still stick to hitting casually and effortlessly without acceleration regardless of how they are hitting the ball to you?

  • @ardaorhan4053
    @ardaorhan4053 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So while rallying you have to be far behind the baseline,but what if the ball stays short (not a drop shot) a groundstroke.

    • @evanwilder4602
      @evanwilder4602 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you let it bounce and keep it going when it reaches you, at least during the groundstroke warm up period. The point isn't to hustle to the net on a short shot.

    Interesting that you feel knee height is what you think as optimal height. Balance seems to be the main component of any stroke. I find that "Waist height" is where players can generate incredible spin power and placement while maintaining easier balance. Nie vid Tomaz

    • @feeltennis
      @feeltennis  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The lower the contact point, the lower my center of gravity therefore better ability to balance myself. I am also talking about fundamentals of tennis but you are pointing out a contact point where players generate incredible spin power which suggests an attacking / aggressive shot. Low contact points also make it the easiest to impart a lot of topspin.
