    Very good story, well acted for the most part. As well as that, it's interesting to see the intense light of Cape Town, as well as the historic value of the visual record of the places and people and ways.
    Thanks.

    This is a remake of Richard Widmark and Thelma Ritter's movie, "Pickup on South Street," made in 1953. Love Claire Trevor and I am also a fan of James Brolin. Thanks Film Detective for this entertaining and suspenseful picture.

      I was just going to say, either it's a remake, or they just plain pick-pocketed the whole plot from it.

    South Africa and not a single black person? Amazing! Claire Trevor was a treat, Brolin much better than expected and handsome, Bisset gorgeous as always, even as she aged. Last 25 minutes too much for suspended disbelief...still overall entertaining. Thanks for posting.

      Did you watch the whole movie? Yes, the main actors were all white, but there are non-white people in some street scenes. For example 01:34:40 is probably where you see this the most, but there are other scenes too.

    Unwitting woman delivering a small envelope has her wallet stolen by a pickpocket on a city bus, engendering a frantic search for the pickpocket-by government security and her criminal client. When she and the pickpocket discover that the envelope contained state secrets being sold to "communists," the whole context changes, even leading to unlikely love. Thanks for posting!

    ? ? ? Somebody help me out please. The main actor looks just like Christian Bale (Batman), whose father had lived in South Africa. The similarity is amazing. Was it his father? Look at pictures of Christian Philip Bale and you know what I mean.

    • @andreimadasov4955
      @andreimadasov4955 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not his father. The actor's name is in the name of the video - James Brolin, father of Thanos and husband of the famous chimney collector Barbara Streisand. Bale's and Brolin's similarity is uncanny, but this is just the case of doppelganger. He is actually the same age in this movie as Bale was in American Psycho.

    • @zackadesina
      @zackadesina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sscbkr48 That is not how it was in 1967. Black and Asian Africans lived in CT in abundance until they were forced out into the shanty towns by law. However, they were still required to return everyday in abundance to do all the menial jobs as cleaners, maids, waiters, baby sitters, bin men etc, etc. Their lives criss-crossed consistently everyday with whites, impossible for it not to be so. But you wouldn't know it if you had little knowledge of SA history and you just watched this poor excuse of a film. PS - politics is never an 'aside.'

      Yes, it was a prosperous, orderly, stable and advanced economy but only if you were white. The rest of the population was terrorised, brutalised and defamed for decades. Now you wonder why things have changed? Such ignorance. If you have traumatised an entire people for nigh on a century, of course they will struggle to get back to being a prosperous, orderly, stable and advanced economy. Wasn't that part of the 'superior race's' plan all along?
